Glad to know that HS2 will finish at Huston Station, a week or two after this presentation. Common sense has prevailed.

Why is there no eastern access road to the station?
Having only one road (from Old Oak Common Lane) to the station is a single point of failure.

That would be very difficult to add across the existing infrastructure to the east

I believe the trains for HS2 are Japanese and the TBM is made by Germany so what is British Institution of Mechanical Engineers talking about the civil engineering stuff here? Shouldn't the IME be concentraing on what goodies from this most expensive HSR the British is getting from the HS2?

It will be a reminder going forward as to just how far we've fallen, industrially, economically, organisationally. The most expensive lesson in how not to do big projects, that are really out of our league. A fair few UK consultants/engineering contractors will get a decent superyacht or 2 out of it I expect

The HS2 project is dead but just doesn't know it yet. Should have killed it stone dead years ago. OOC to Curzon Street - not Central London, & not a convenient place in Birmingham. If that was ever worth doing. Probably less aggravation - and less expense - to go direct New St. to Euston WCML, marginal time-wise. The OOC -> Euston will never find the backers. Feeding frenzy for wizz-bang engineers/consultants "...golden credit cards..." has a ring of truth about it, & a load of enthusiasts in denial
