He needs to be Star Wars' Kevin Feige, I don't think he necessarily needs to direct anything but he needs to have control and a presence over everything
George Lucas sold and stepped down from Lucasfilm at age 68, Kathleen Kennedy is 64, when the time comes for someone else to run Lucasfilm, Dave Filoni should be considered.
I'm still only in favor of a creative role. There's a difference between putting him in a role like Kiri Hart's, which I think Kristian should be saying, and running an entire film studio that will include multiple Star Wars films in development, probably Indiana Jones, Star Wars parks, etc.
Adrian Avelar You're literally the first commenter I've seen even mention Kiri Hart's name. She's the person in charge of the story group and development.
Adrian Avelar LucasFilm doesn't have much of a say in the theme parks. That's all Disney. That's the reason why Iger bought LucasFilm- to have a Wizarding World of The Force. Nobody wants Kiri Hart's role because it's effectively useless
Filoni talks about making sure Kanan’s death has meaning, not just for the other characters to know and understand the meaning but also the audience. If only Luke got that kind of treatment.
"It's only divisive because fans suck ass." Even if that were so, fans are the reason Star Wars has endured for so long. Fans are the reason you got new Star Wars movies in the first place. It wouldn't exist without the fans...so if you like Star Wars, then you owe those very same fans that you hate a debt of gratitude.
Noiseless Sounds nah fam my expectations weren't that high, i hated it because it was a huge mess from start to finish. I have specific reasons but i doubt you care to hear them. And if you think over 70 likes is a lot then wait till you see my final form.
hey I have just a little qustion, how many hours are left until the series finale becuase sadly I do not live in the USA and I have to wait until it gets uploaded to the internet in a random website or something like that ;-;
Switch2Kill wait till rebels recon hits TH-cam and that's usually my sign to start looking for a copy to watch ;). From another viewer outside America.
Put this guy in charge of everything. He shouldn't have to be graciously invited to participate in anything. He should be the one making the big decisions. Clone Wars is the best thing about the prequel era and Rebels is better than the sequel movies. George trusted him and rightfully so. He knows knows, understands, and loves this shit.
He says he's not a storyteller on the level George is yet, but I would say he is already a fantastic storyteller. I cannot wait for the finale and then to marathon this last season! I wish they were releasing this last half of the season as a theatrical release. I would love to share the experience with other fans on that level.
I am surprised that he is not directing a live action Star Wars film. Clearly he cares about the story and understands the mythology. Kathleen Kennedy clearly needs to hire Feloni for a project.
Raghu Seetharaman he understands mythology...but story is a different matter...he needs to really consult with the guys at Pixar to make a well structured screenplay with depth on its own terms
Filoni is a creator who really understands Star Wars. Harloff is a fan who really understands Star Wars. I wish more creators and more fans were like these two.
The only problem I had with this...is that it wasn't 1-2 hours LONGER! What an awesome 22 minutes!! Excellent interview Kristian! Dave gave us some good answers, while not revealing anything "official"! We all could see the excitement & energy coming off of you during the interview, and maybe it was just me, but I saw you were so close to just bursting with certain questions, Canon etc..lol....
Dave seems very happy in his role and the power he wields. He talks to all of the creators, he can veto things that originated with him, and contrary to Kristian on some level, he seems to prefer smaller or lesser connections, depending on the fit. Like no Scarif here or very little Chopper and the Ghost in Rogue One. So if Dave's happy in his role, then I'm happy for him.
Filoni should be the head of creative content at Lucasfilm. Dave is the closest thing we have to Lucas and it would make sense, that he steer this ship into the future.
Amazing interview, Kristian! Really shows why you are one of the best in the business! You know how to be both a fan and a professional at the same time. And to Mr. Filoni, thank you orb EVERYTHING. There are many legends in the Star Wars universe, but you are one of the best...AND you're also canon :)
Here's what Iger should say in a press statement "Kathleen has done such an amazing job at revitalizing Star Wars for future generations which has opened up so many new possibilities. To help realize her vision, we are appointing Dave Filoni as an associate producer on upcoming projects". That's the best way to spin demoting Kennedy without getting killed in the press
Eric Kern The problem with that is the "story group" doesn't get heard other than when they have to do damage control or come up with backstories for Snoke's slippers. I said associate producer, which is as a generic and ethereal title Hollywood has next to a producer. Really, what did Kennedy do for Spielberg?
I really think that this would be the best solution. Kennedy is more of an organizer which is also very important but she lacks a general vision as shown in the sequel trilogy. Filoni could be the guy who has the vision what Star Wars should be. He would essentially be the guiding hand that ensures that all types of media (e.g. Rian's trilogy) feel like they belong in the same universe.
Phil zu Neide My issue with Kennedy being in charge of anything stems from how she became a producer in the first place. From my understanding, she was an enthusiastic, eager secretary for Spielberg who became a producer because he deemed it so. Her husband, on the other hand, worked under Bogdanovich, Scorsese to Spielberg, handling everything from location manager to second unit directing
Don Draper I don't really see how that matters. She must be good or she wouldn't have stayed so long in the business or be entrusted with one of the most valuable franchises.
Stikman I really hope not. He's a gem that must be protected from her. She's already got JJ and Rian. But hopefully, Dave will be protected by his wolves.
I love the part where he's talking about meaningful death for Kanan. Love Filoni for that. I wish the sequel trilogy would do more of that. Han's death didn't really do anything for the progression of the story or characters, not even for Kylo. Snoke is killed off for shock value just to get rid of him and with snoke gone they had to write off Luke aswell in a very underwhelming way.
Han’s death played a role in committing kylo to the dark side. He made a choice to kill the Ben Solo side of himself. To say it didn’t do anything to the story just isn’t true. It’s selective to not look at the development in the story.
Santez Henderson But did he really commit to the dark side? The whole Rey & Kylo plot is about how Kylo is still a conflicting character. Just like he was before killing Han. If anything made that switch it was Snoke's death, not Han's. Also, do you really think he's not going to be "redeemed" in ep9?
If I may say so, my feelings were they were going for funny and for shock value, and also to slap the fans in the face. I hated the dumb jokes too. They did away with any heart-felt scenes. If KK oversees all decisions, that was probably her right there. I wish someone would remake TLJ keeping Luke and Leia and also put Han at least a s force-ghost. These are just my feelings.
I hope to God that Filoni takes over all creative aspects at Lucasfilm. Gonna miss Rebels and the lore that it has introduced and explored. Hope Filoni has something in the works and it comes soon!
This is why I'm not saddened by the ending of Rebels. They already have a show underway. While we've been watching S4 they've been putting together the next TV show.
I just have to say I am SOOO happy that you got this interview. Kristian, you are the PERFECT person to be asking the MAN...Dave Filoni, these questions. Loved it!!!
I want to thank Dave Filoni for his vision and artistry in Star Wars. We want to see a live action movie directed by him! Thank you Kristian for making this interview happen.
Filoni... a fan = why he connects to the fanbase so well and is on the mark with his story choices. Everyone that's head creative should be required to go through a test to see if they're truly a fan of star wars before making decisions which effect canon. ahem... K. Kennedy..
Had to watch this interview right after the finale. Filoni gets Star Wars! I still can't believe I actually teared up at the end of the episode. Great interview Kristain! I'm gonna really miss Rebels.
Master Filoni, Years ago you served the farther of Star Wars in the Clone Wars, Now we fans BEG you to help us in our struggle against Kathleen Kennedy. I regret that I am unable to present the fans request to you in person, but I live in UK & i'm afraid my mission to bring this message to Lucasfilm has failed. I have placed information vital to the survival of Star Wars into the message board of this podcast. Pablo Hidalgo will know how to retrieve it. You must see this message safely delivered to Bob Iger at Disney. This is our most desperate hour. Help us Dave Filoni, You're our only hope..
Man Dave Filioni is such a Humble guy and is so amazing in his knowledge and story telling. I hope one day he gets his shot to connect most of the star wars world.
Dave should be head of storytelling. I don’t like all of his decisions but all of them are creative and true to what George wanted for SW. He is his apprentice and heir apparent after all.
Filoni for creative control of Star Wars .😁😉.he is the only one who can put things back on track for star Wars😉😁😁.. What a wonderful person. A true star wars guru. He has done great work congratulations . Great interview
Manuel Cardoso question..... if Dave Filoni loved TLJ... would you take back what you’ve just said?? Because assuming that he enjoyed TLJ i don’t see how he would put it back on track in your eyes since for him its currently on track :)
Juan Jaramillo We can assume a lot of things but even you have to agree that there is something not right going on with Star Wars ...and i do not want to go into the political side of it...because Star Wars has always been diverse. The problem is more on the creative side that is lacking....Kathleen may be a fantastic producer and she has the credentials to prove it but she lacks the imagination and creativity to understand Star Wars at least thats how i see it. Doesnt...mean that someone like Filoni in charge would resolve anything but some change is needed... even though i liked TLJ ...yes i did like the movie but I didnt love...it.! overall....i felt that it was a huge step down...and found it to be disapointing especially when it comes to Star wars. And the more i see it... the more I understand the problems that came with some of the choices that were made with it. And if the franchise is to continue these problems should be taken into account and not ignored.
Manuel Cardoso she didn’t write the story though & btw I have a feeling I know what political stuff you mean ;) Lemme guess its something to do with “feminist agenda” right ;)
Ya it does and although she didn't write the story she influenced the script and it was obvious based on how shit it was. Now go stfu #Disneyfan +Juan Jaramillo
Awesome Interview!! Love Dave Filoni. I agree with Kristen that Dave should be consultant on all starwar content. Clone Wars was great. Love Rebels! can't wait for his next story.
That was so awesome. Glad you were able to pull off that interview. Keep up the GREAT work. Man hopefully JJ taps him in the shoulder and uses Dave to his fullest extent to build his story/film to improve it dramatically.
I find it encouraging that Filoni and all the new filmmakers so far have spoken and/or collaborated somewhat. I also found it interesting how Filoni squashed this idea that he had everything pre-planned for Rebels. That's the gift of tv that film doesn't allow for...space and time. There's been more screen time for Rebels (27.5 hours total) than all of the prequels, OT, rogue one, TFA and TALK combined (19.5 hours)! TV is a lot more flexible and forgiving that way.
I don't even watch Rebels and this is a fantastic interview and I would listen to them talk about canon for hours. I'm really hoping that Collider's new plans to cover/do more live events (live for crowds) will make it possible for Kristian to talk to Dave more this year
He is the man. Such a nice guy and so humble is incredible. He is what Lucas Films need to get the SW franchise to the next level and they just don't see it. Unbelievable. Nothing but love and huge respect for Mr. Filoni.......
Great interview!!! It was very interesting listening to what Dave Filoni had to say about a range of Star Wars related topics. Filoni really is a gem of a Star Wars content creator!
Just watched the filnalé and I can't wait for the next series Filoni does. Especially if it picks up soonishly after the end of Rebels. Filoni has made so many great animated series at this point, he could crap in a bag and I'd watch it.
Thanks, Christian for letting Dave know that we believe he is the heir apparent and for putting it on record that he NEEDS to be the lead Dog as far as story goes at LFL. You speak for many of us. Great interview.
Fun fact for those of you who haven't watched Clone Wars Conversations, which is an interview style show (can double as a podcast) between James Arnold Taylor (voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi) and various voice actors from Clone Wars where they talk about the show behind the scenes, what it was like for them, their inspiration to voicing the character, working with Dave, etc.: Sam Witwer was on the show and told a story about his time on the Mortis arc. There was a scene with Anakin and the Son playing Shmi, where Matt Lanter emotionally says "I have a wife, I'd like you to meet her." Sam, being a new recruit to Clone Wars, raised his hand akin to a student and says "Um, we gotta do that again." Dave and the people behind the glass go, "Well...why?" And Sam said, "Because Padme already met Shmi." And Dave takes his hat off, ponders, and realizes that he was right. Padme did meet Shmi in Episode 1. Ashley Eckstein turns to Sam and says "I've never seen someone out-geek Dave before." The whole room bursts into laughter, good times all around. Sam firmly believes that they would've caught the error on their own before it aired, but it's still a funny story.
im very happy Kristian did the interview before he saw the finale, not saying he would spoil it but its awesome watching the excitement coming from a place of not knowing, but god.... I LOVE DAVE FILONI
Kennedy should be moved elsewhere. It is so obvious that Filoni needs to run the creative side of things if not more. His two series have far surpassed what the movies have done.
it's an unfair comparison. Its a completely different style of storytelling. He's has 10 seasons (i think) between both shows to weave together a story, it's just not something we can judge next to a few hours of a film.
NitsujZenitram2804 Good point, but Kennedy's competence is. Rogue One made it as clear as day that she was in over her head. Having to call in your spouse to assess and assist in fixing your own production was a red flag that things were going off the rails
NitsujZenitram2804 I'm a Sous Chef. I never once had my girlfriend expedite my orders or place an order to Baldor. I never gotten so far into the weeds that I asked her to come in and help
Filoni should be running the show. The dude really, REALLY gets it. I hope someday he’s either in charge of LucasFilm or making his own films because he deserves it. How can you be so humble Dave? How?
MY GOD!! JUST NOW FINISHED THE FINALE OF REBELS AND BAWLED MY EYES OUT!! Seriously, Filoni must take sadistic pleasure in making grown men cry. Lol. Just incredible! He is THE greatest storyteller and now the god of all SW lore. Put the man in charge of all creative direction at Lucasfilm. He has truly learned and mastered the ways of the Force from uncle George!
Harloff is trying so hard to wear his poker face when you know he believes in his heart of hearts that Filoni could be the savior and redeemer of Lucasfilm and he just wants to get him to admit it. It's so much fun to see the tortured looks on his face as he tries not to burst when listening to the answers to his leading questions.
Give filoni a bloody film to make, he deserves more than anybody.
James Roa a one hr low budget movie. Let see if he can make it goof
*good
He needs to be Star Wars' Kevin Feige, I don't think he necessarily needs to direct anything but he needs to have control and a presence over everything
James Roa I agree
Tom 22 exactly
George Lucas sold and stepped down from Lucasfilm at age 68, Kathleen Kennedy is 64, when the time comes for someone else to run Lucasfilm, Dave Filoni should be considered.
I'm still only in favor of a creative role. There's a difference between putting him in a role like Kiri Hart's, which I think Kristian should be saying, and running an entire film studio that will include multiple Star Wars films in development, probably Indiana Jones, Star Wars parks, etc.
lets hope she gets an early retirement
Better Call Maul he probably wouldn't be about to continue being a creator. Or at least I would assume so.
Adrian Avelar
You're literally the first commenter I've seen even mention Kiri Hart's name. She's the person in charge of the story group and development.
Adrian Avelar
LucasFilm doesn't have much of a say in the theme parks. That's all Disney. That's the reason why Iger bought LucasFilm- to have a Wizarding World of The Force. Nobody wants Kiri Hart's role because it's effectively useless
He is the chosen one. He is going to bring the balance in the force into Lucasfilm. Guys #Indavewetrust
May the Filoni be with us
I think it's too late now, they're already two thirds of the way through the new trilogy. Not sure what else they can do
Juan Sebastián Zapata Paez #indavewetrust
Filoni should be the Kevin Feige of the Star Wars universe.
DoN BrEaKeR Agreed!
Filoni talks about making sure Kanan’s death has meaning, not just for the other characters to know and understand the meaning but also the audience. If only Luke got that kind of treatment.
True.
Derek Richardson Yeah, they straight up treated him like an inconvenience. Oh, Luke's back, but we want him gone by 9 so, bye-bye. Bullshit.
Yeah. Haha. Most random death I’ve ever seen to a main character in a movie…
With Star Wars being so divisive right now you could say this is our most desperate hour. Help us Dave Filoni, you're our only hope.
Noiseless Sounds fans do suck but the movie sucked harder.
Noiseless Sounds well if enough people have the same criticism then it's probably true.
Noiseless Sounds can't speak for everybody but I didn't get my opinions off the internet.
Dave Filoni!!! Wish this interview was a hour long, thanks Kristian. :)
There is an hour long Q&A
Christian said there was a longer one on Jedi Council, didn't he?
These are 21 minutes of preparation for tonight and relaxing while I am listening to the words of one of the greatest Star Wars creators ever!
hey I have just a little qustion, how many hours are left until the series finale becuase sadly I do not live in the USA and I have to wait until it gets uploaded to the internet in a random website or something like that ;-;
I said "one of the greatest [...]" so that doesn't exclude George
Rod Diaz if it’s tonight then about 11 hours from
Switch2Kill wait till rebels recon hits TH-cam and that's usually my sign to start looking for a copy to watch ;).
From another viewer outside America.
So agree with this Rian Jhonson says hes a fan but Dave truly loves Star wars. He would make a Amazing movie.
After listening to this interview, Lucasfilm MUST make Filoni head of all creative. The dude just GETS IT. Make it happen!!!
I just wish he wasn't so damn humble. The executive sharks will skip right over him because of that.
This is the only person who can save Star Wars!!!!!
Star Wars doesn’t need saving. Never did.
@@MiffysGameRoom Cute opinion
and he just did
He says he's not a storyteller on the level George is yet, but I would say he is already a fantastic storyteller. I cannot wait for the finale and then to marathon this last season! I wish they were releasing this last half of the season as a theatrical release. I would love to share the experience with other fans on that level.
Execute Order 66 already Emperor Filoni. Time for you to take it all over!
Patrick Brophy in the voice of the emperor "ultimate power must me miiinnne!"
Amen. if we could vote on it K Rat would be GONE.
I'm impressed with how Krisitan can display his supreme fandom while still being professional.
He should be directing the movies and running lucas films
Kathleen Kennedy should step aside and let him run the story.
He probably doesn't have time. There is a very strong chance that he is already in development on the new series for the streaming network.
Pixar sucks.
Filoni is a creator who really understands Star Wars. Harloff is a fan who really understands Star Wars. I wish more creators and more fans were like these two.
Great interview. Love to see Witwer vs. Hidalgo on a Star Wars Schmoedown. Make it happen.
Graff Fuller Oh... never thought of that. Witwer is the king but Hidalgo would beat him for sure. It’s literally his job to know Star Wars.
BloodyFlowerFilms I could see Hidalgo correcting the quiz.
watching kristian unable to hold back his smiles made me smile
"Please help us Dave, you're our only hope!"
Dave has heart for this franchise and its something it needs right now, Help us Filoni you're our only hope.
Kristian literally thinks Dave reads everything & knows everything to the point where he comes up with everything by himself
I am praying for a Star Wars Rebels sequel right now.
Filoni should be the head of creative content at Lucasfilm. Dave is the closest thing we have to Lucas and it would make sense, that he steer this ship into the future.
Harloff is so giddy, and rightfully so.
THE LEGEND OF GUY WHO KEEPS STAR WARS COOL DAVE FILONI!
BTW, Right now on Disney XD is the REBELS Marathon that has been going on since yesterday! Watching them all, back to back is so damn awesome!

I wish this interview was 2 hours long! Filoni is amazing🤭
Outstanding conversation. I'm impressed that the subjects you were curious about were directly answered by Filoni.
Make this man the head of Lucasfilm people!
Mark head of creativity let KK handle all ceo business stuff and let dave handle the actual storytelling
I honestly wonder if Kathleen Kennedy even knows who Dave Filoni is.
Stikman She just knows Jar Jar Abrams and Ruin Johnson
Yep he’s just some random dude thats in charge of the animation mhm
Stikman I really hope not. He's a gem that must be protected from her. She's already got JJ and Rian. But hopefully, Dave will be protected by his wolves.
You're an idiot
I hope she knows what unemployment will be like.
Love Dave Filoni. He should be in charge of all creative decisions at Lucusfilm.

I just have to say I am SOOO happy that you got this interview. Kristian, you are the PERFECT person to be asking the MAN...Dave Filoni, these questions. Loved it!!!

& yes i am a disney fan is that supposed to offend me?
Awesome Interview!! Love Dave Filoni. I agree with Kristen that Dave should be consultant on all starwar content. Clone Wars was great. Love Rebels! can't wait for his next story.
That was so awesome. Glad you were able to pull off that interview. Keep up the GREAT work. Man hopefully JJ taps him in the shoulder and uses Dave to his fullest extent to build his story/film to improve it dramatically.
Dave is the man!!! Thank you for a great interview Christian.
Never thought I could ever love another man this much. Filoni is the GOAT. Great interview, Kristian!
Incredible interview Kristian. Luv this guy! Thank you Dave Filoni. The last 4 Episodes of Rebels were AMAZING!
I will say this again... Dave Filoni is the BEST!!!
Great interview Kristian also I really can’t believe it’s coming to an end I’ve grown more attached to these characters more than I realized
I'm really hoping that Collider's new plans to cover/do more live events (live for crowds) will make it possible for Kristian to talk to Dave more this year
I love Filoni, loved watching this chat, especially considering Kristian's discussions on Jedi Council about him
Good job kristian, and much respect to you Dave filoni.
This is great Kristian! Glad you got to spend some time with him. Now let's get this guy a bigger role in Lucasfilm.
Wow what a nice genuine man. Wish everyone valued down to earth individuals.. such as he
He is the man.
I LOVE This, but also wish that you interviewed him after seeing the finale! Well done, Harloff! Great Interview!
It’s awesome to hear an interview with a person who loves Star Wars ...👍🏽 give Filoni a movie .. he deserves a chance
This is cool, I'm glad y'all could get together like this.
Dave Filoni to write and direct an Obi Wan movie. Seriously, clear the slate and just make that happen.
It wouldn’t be a obi wan movie it would be a trollbi wan movie.
Thanks, Christian for letting Dave know that we believe he is the heir apparent and for putting it on record that he NEEDS to be the lead Dog as far as story goes at LFL. You speak for many of us. Great interview.
AWESOME interview Kristian. Can’t wait for tonight!!
There was a scene with Anakin and the Son playing Shmi, where Matt Lanter emotionally says "I have a wife, I'd like you to meet her." Sam, being a new recruit to Clone Wars, raised his hand akin to a student and says "Um, we gotta do that again." Dave and the people behind the glass go, "Well...why?" And Sam said, "Because Padme already met Shmi."
And Dave takes his hat off, ponders, and realizes that he was right.
He came up with the portals when he and Lucas made the mortis arc. The portals are there. Check the first episode of that arc. You'll see.
Trust kristian to ask the right questions. GREAT interview!
im very happy Kristian did the interview before he saw the finale, not saying he would spoil it but its awesome watching the excitement coming from a place of not knowing, but god.... I LOVE DAVE FILONI
This is sooooooo good. Love Harloff when he's super passionate about something. He loves Filoni!!!
AWESOME INTERVIEW 😆 Can't wait for the next adventure...
Wow, that was great Kristian, loved the questions asked and answered
This guy is a gem. A genius who also happens to be a true fan.
Dave Filoni is the best, waiting for some of the best content I have seen yet tonight. Hope he creates a live action TV show or movie
Many thanks to Mr. Harloff and Mr. Filoni! ✨
LONG LIVE DAVE FILONI!!!!!!
Imagine if Filoni would have been given the reigns to Episode VIII.... pure bliss.
NitsujZenitram2804
Good point, but Kennedy's competence is. Rogue One made it as clear as day that she was in over her head. Having to call in your spouse to assess and assist in fixing your own production was a red flag that things were going off the rails
really? you've never spoken about your work with your significant other?

I'm a Sous Chef. I never once had my girlfriend expedite my orders or place an order to Baldor. I never gotten so far into the weeds that I asked her to come in and help
Moved to the trash can.
So much truth. If the franchise made more use of his talents...
Loved this! We need Filoni on the council!!!!
Woah!! We got an interview with Filoni!!
Dave filoni should be in charge of Lucas film. Who else agrees????
Everyone except SJWs
Movies-video games collector Batman fan 2017
In the immortal words of Boba Fett:
"Yep."
Cool. Cannot wait Dave
I'm bummed I can only hit the like button once. Thank you Kristian.
Jeez Filoni just gets it, how can you not love this guy
