Man, Glenn honesty just made my day. I thought it was crazy that I always have to try and play pretty in the key of D. Yeah I know he's still absolutely killing in that key, but just that one little bit of honesty makes me want to get out of bed and go back to the years I use to practice to 4am several nights a week just trying to learn how to play. I'm no where near Glenn level yet, but I'm sure thankful to God how far He's brought me and for Gerard Johnson telling me to learn to play in all keys and actually teaching me things years ago til this day I still use in learning.
When I say I totally respect Glenn for his honesty... words won’t allow me to express the respect I have for that! He’s one of the Giants of gospel music today yet he’s humble enough to share with the world where he might feel less comfortable. Most musicians half his level wouldn’t admit that. It’s not that he can’t play in every key! Obviously he can murder any key!!!!
@@JohnAReese, you are the first player that I have heard that says playing in different keys is just muscle memory at the end of the day. The first one. So if you have been playing for 30 years, it's either you've spent a majority of the time playing in one key or you are a genius that can simply play any key because it's all muscle memory to you. For almost all other piano players, we spend time transferring ideas in each key because the geography of the keys are all different and just because one can play perfectly in Ab major doesn't mean immediately that they can do the same things in A major.
