Aero Fighters/Sonic Wings is a masterpiece. Besides its great gameplay, it has a mistic and lore, because reflected contemporanean conflics in the early 90s, like the fall of the Berlin wall (1989), the fall of the USSR, the Balkans war and the conflict in the Persian gulf, coincidentally (or not) 4 of all stages the game has. In other hand, I love to play with F14's Keith, I like the sound effect of the missiles when using the smart bombs.

I remember when I first played this arcade game I always went with the F-14 Tomcat piloted by Keith.

Aero Fighters, Raiden and Strikers 1945 are the best Shmups imo.
