Print-on-demand sellers have always been looking for ways to increase their productivity.
In the long term, the only way you can compete is by creating more and more designs of considerably higher quality.
The problem is that you're constrained by quickly you or your designers can produce designs.
It either takes a long time or it costs a great deal of money.
Midjourney completely changed the game when it first introduced v4 to the world.
However, the vast majority of Merch designs are vectors because the designs need to be scaled for various different types of products.
Unfortunately, Adobe Illustrator's image tracer has always been a huge pile of rubbish, producing very low-quality vectors.
But that's about to change quite a bit.
You can now vectorize your images with much greater quality straight within Discord thanks to a tool called Tracejourney!

This is gold :). Thank you Christian!
Thanks for this video 🙌
Wow,awesome, thanks for sharing
Fantastic find. Well touched upon. Very helpful for those wanting to create mockups!
Thank you for this. 💯
My pleasure!
Was hoping you or someone would tackle this soon. 🙌🏽 Appreciate you and your channel so much.
Glad I could help!
Thank you so much. Your channel is really the best for MJ info and tutorials. Thank you a lot🙏
Glad you like them!
Another solid video by Tokenized. Well done. Will give Tracejourney a try. Thanks.
Enjoy!
Wow! This looks amazing - just what I was hoping someone would come up with - and the mock-up feature looks fantastic!!🤩 I still struggle a bit with discord but this definitely looks worth the battle!!😆 Thank you🙏🤗
I hate Discord but I think many people will find this useful nonetheless 🙂
Fantastic, thank you very much
wow! incredible! thank you.
Awesome Christian! Very helpful. Have a successful course launch. Enjoy the weekend. Grüße aus Thüringen.
Danke! 🙂
Wow...this is frickin' amazing!
So awesome!
I'm immensely grateful for your recent TH-cam video From Pixels to Vectors. After weeks of searching, you have presented me with the perfect solution I was seeking. Your content has been invaluable, and I'm truly thankful for your kindness in sharing this gift. Your video has made a significant impact on daily work.
Glad I could help!🙂
I found this very helpful if you want to vectorize your own images :
Tracejourney Bot can now process images from the web
use /url and insert an image url
the bot will fetch the image and respond with the options menu
Great tip!
This is awesome!! ❤️ Thank you for sharing this, if the tag feature works now, this will be even better!! 🔥🔥❤️🍀
Holy smokes, Chris, that's incredible! This field is moving so damn fast. I'm hoping the next tool someone comes out with makes 3D models. ModelJourney? Thanks again, this will be so useful to so many people.
I think 3D models will take some more time.
Supergut 😊 herzlichen Dank ♡
Once again, high quality content.
Amazing, I was looking for something similar 🎉
Glad I could help!
Thank you so much for that video. Right now you can connect Tracejourney with your private server. I tried to put a wall art image on a blank wall frame mockup with three different websites for Photoshop but they always cut a part on the image. And when I tried Tracejourney it did the job properly without losing anything in my ai images.
Muchas gracias, excelente contenido.
thanks for this video :)
You can also add the Tracejourney bot to your server. And copying the id (and changing the server) will no longer be necessary.
All the best!
amazing!
Good stuff!
Saludos de un venezolano en Chile, no me pierdo ninguno de tus videos! :)
Gracias! 🙂
This is cool!
Wow it’s very impressive
game changer ,,, no doubt
I stopped print on demand because I was manually tracing images and doing the colors and shading in Affinity Designer for years but it’s a lot of work! This changes the game but I will still probably do the shading myself because I can make it look way better. Thanks Token! +1
There are always tradeoffs of course but yeah, I think this changes things quite a bit.
@@TokenizedAI Saves hours!
Regardless - this feature is not possible to be used on your own original design. Having the skill to outline WELL a drawing - is never used. MJ or not - you will need you manual skills, because they are enriching and enhancing your brain function.Make no mistake about it….
@@StyleViewStudio I don’t think you understood.
Oh my!
They added a new feature yesterday, exporting vector images to pdf and other as well.
You can also work with the bot in dm, does not have to be their server.
Upscale works up to x 4.
Yeah, I only realized yesterday that you can actually DM the bot directly.
Good stuff. Thanks for the find and sharing! But... hey, what's up with the copy prompt button?!?
It's from a Chrome extension for a website I'm working on (Promptalot). But the site is still very much WIP and not fully functional. You've been warned 😅
Hi Christian, congrats for the content that you share. Is always very interesting. I have a question but not about Tracejourney. I want to know (if it's possible) How do you put these two green buttons on the discord interface to copy prompt? Thanks a lot.
It's from a Chrome extension that I built for a project I'm working on, called Promptalot. It's still in development though.
Maybe it's something we can use? HECK YES,! You just eliminated several steps. I signed up immediately. Thank you for the video
😁
Hi, as always great content! By the way I noticed that you have a copy prompt button under each midjourney generator, how did you got that?
Promptalot chrome extension
It's from an extension for a website I'm working on (still work in progress though).
I get that if I have MJ with this bot in one server I can't use the command /show but will I be able to use this bot in privet
if I put it in a server alone away from the server that has MJ and use the command /show in privet in that new server that only have this bot?
I have a question about it, is it possible to use tracejourney with AI generated image which is not made by Midjourney, I use Leonardo AI.
Thanks for the info. Very interesting. How does this compare to upscaling with, say Gigapixel, which can increase the image x 6 with no image loss? Is it necessary to convert to vector for a T-Shirt?
Upscaling is unnecessary if you convert them to vectors. The whole point of using vectors is that they are infinitely scalable.
@@TokenizedAI Yep. I understand that. However, that premise also works in reverse. If you get the same quality from upscaling, why do you need to vectorise for an image the size of a T-shirt? If it was a billboard poster that would be different. I've just upscaled some MJ images using Gigapixel and had them printed on very large canvases 2m wide at 300dpi with zero pixelation or quality loss, so I'm just wondering if vectorising has any advantage in this instance.
Valid points. I think because some platforms allow you to upload vectors and then change colors (on the frontend, for the customer).
I also think it might just be that people have gotten used to working with them. Especially when you're adding typography too. I personally prefer to work with vectors for almost everything.
@@TokenizedAI Fair point. Definitely a bonus for adding vector text, especially if you need to customise it or individual elements of the image itself.
Nice Video! Sad that this App not available for free try anymore
This is great info thank you but when I try to put a prompt in tracejourney, it only brings up the upscale links. I can't seem to get the vector, remove bg etc.
Cause they only show up once you upscale a particular image.
Once you have upscaled an image, is there no way to get the options from tracejourney? I keep getting already upscaled this image.
Please ask Tracejourney's support. The comments section under my video really isn't the best place to ask these questions.
This is such a God send! Thank you! I would leave 100 likes if I could! It is SO much better than image trace in Illustrator! And thannk you to the TraceJourney team!
Glad it helped!
They also added DL in PDF and EPS yesterday because they knew you where going to release a video today 😅
lol, really? Haha, maybe I should have recorded it later 😆
Looks great, I did send an image and upscale it but does not show the vectorise buttons!
Probably best to ask their suppzin the server.
@@TokenizedAI All sorted 🙂
It would be nice if you could do a direct final result comparison with Adobe Illustrator.
But that's the point. To get anything even remotely this good in Adobe Illustrator, it would take you sooooooo much time. Just not worth it.
If you have just the standard package i.e. your images are public, if you create a private discord server, can people on midJ discord server still see your images? Stupid question i know
Are you talking about the MJ plans?
Your images are always public (on the web app) unless you're in Stealth Mode (requires Pro plan). Using a private server just eliminates the need to prompt inside the official MJ Discord and also allows for more organization. But if someone wants to find your images, they can.
@@TokenizedAI I thought that would be the answer, just wanted a confirmation. Thankyou for replying.
And what about CMYK colors? Could be a problem when printing Rgb
80% of the POD sellers don't use CMYK. Honestly, it's a non-issue with modern DTG.
If you chat with the trace journey bot directly, does that keep gour images private?
Define "private"? Your MJ images are never private unless you use "stealth mode".
Can someone help, I'm not getting the envelope icon to send the image from my server to the main server. Do I need to do something in my settings? Thanks in advance
i figured it out
Can you vectorize anything? For some reason I always figured vectorizing wasn't for intricate designs.
Depends on how intricate they are. But it's definitely better than conventional image tracers.
on my midjourney they don't have this vectorize button
Are these free to use when you have the midjourney subscription of 30usd?
They aren't affiliated with MJ in any way.
Very nice but certainly won’t be using until such time as I can get it in my own server. However, even then I’m doubtful. Why pay to vectorize when I can do it for free in Inkscape? In all my years of trying to find the best vectorizer programme I always come back to Inkscape. Have you personally tried this prog, and if so how does TraceJourney compare to it?
You don't need it in your own server. You can message their bot directly too.
Inkscape is no better than Adobe Illustrator's image tracer. I've used them all. Trust me.
@@TokenizedAI it is same. Just tried to vectorize your image from screenshot from youtobe. Same result but in Illustrator you have more settings for colors, number of dots etc. But Illustrator cost some money
❤👌
Any particular reason to do that instead of using illustrator ?
Adobe Illustrator's image tracer is total crap compared to this. I say this in the video too.
Any different from Adobe Illy trace?
No idea
If one has a professional subscription to MJ - I wonder if it includes TraceJourney…
They're not affiliated. So, afraid not.
having trouble finding the server
Check description
the 10 free is per month?
I don't know. I recommend asking in the Discord.
HOW TO CREATE TRACE JOURNEY PRIVATE SERVER
ASK THE TRACEJOURNEY SUPPORT
:-) Adobe illustrator image trace is totally crap -agree :-)
🤣 The truth must be told.
how is it "crap?" You can completely customize vector settings for multiple vector options. don't get how this is better than AI. need to back up that claim - it's a big one.
Try vectorizing more detailed designs with Adobe Illustrator. It's horrible by comparison.
@@TokenizedAI I've vectorized really detailed ai robot animals, for example. Not the funnest, but you got to be willing to do the steps. Def appreciate a simple approach though.
@@antigravityinc agree with you. 14 years of experience illustrating in Illustrator i hate trace and never use it for projects (number of objects and dots matter for my work) but i dont see how it is crap too.
Vectors images isn't only good quality, if you would like to modify something or animate, that's impossible
Or simply use vectorize and save 56 steps.

Yes, I know. I literally say this in the video 🙄
Why do all your videos lately seem like they're shot through cotton, or clouds? Or an iced-over lens? Anyway, I thank you for these. But I must admit that they make me feel reinforced in my belief that coming up with a decent prompt is like voodoo, and you just keep trying again, and again, until you get something "similar" to what you want. Although "similar" can mean "worlds apart." Is that why you don't actually care about making the characters match from one image to another? You've convinced me that it's because that is not possible. And that's why I'm not going to pay almost $200 for a course from you that will probably teach me that using AI to create a consistent set of characters through even a 4-page comic is impossible. I mean, that's what you've shown us, right?
This video is more than half a year old. So, not sure what you mean by "lately". Sounds like you commented under the wrong video, to be honest.
It's not voodoo, but yes, creating consistent characters is extremely difficult with the current level of the tech. I don't claim it's easy and I don't "ice over". I'm literally known for not icing over anything. On the contrary. No idea where you got that idea because I literally demonstrate how challenging it is. That's why Midjourney is working on features to facilitate this.
As for the course, the product page specifically states that it does not cover character consistency. It teaches the foundational skills of Midjourney, how to prompt and how to do so with intent. It does not cover hyper specific use cases such as creating comic books, which is only 1 single use case out of hundreds. So, if that's what you're looking for, then the course isn't for you. But like I said, the course page is open and transparent about that if one reads it.
FANTASTIC VIDEO! Great for designers - will save me time skillfully tracing by hand or perfecting the Illustrator outlines. NOT because A Illustrator is bad - my taste level is very high and I know EXACTLY what shape I need or what line ,etc, I am Illustrator master. I can evaluate Adobe Illustrator . But I am not aware of you being a designer who uses Adobe Illustrator professionally - if that is the case - I don’t think you are qualified to put down software , from which MJ is sucking up all its features.
All amateurs who use MJ will get the wrong idea that MJ will make the a Designers…It will NOT. Never forget that MJ is specifically created with designer users in mind - professionals who already know what they want ,can do it without MJ only for longer period of time.
Apart from that - great video.Thank you!💖
PS. Calling the best software”c**p” is not only unnecessary but arrogant as well. Where do you thinkMJ borrowed the code to trace imagery.? From Adobe Illustrator - the very first and best drafting software. You may not be insulting .It reduces your own value as a professional.Adobe Illustrator is still the best!
With all due respect, I've been using Adobe Illustrator for 20 years.
I know the image tracer very well and I know that it's much worse at this and requires far more post-work. It works for certain use cases but it's horrible for more complex designs for print-on-demand.
I'm not making stuff up. I'm also not being arrogant. It's an opinion that is widely shared in the print-on-demand space.
I trust that people understand that my statement refers to the image tracer and not to the entire piece of software. In the context of the video, it's quite obvious that this is what I meant.
PS: MJ didn't borrow anything from Adobe. Adobe doesn't do open source software. This tool isn't even MJ. I'm really not sure where you're getting this info from. Very confusing.
Sadly they are charging more than Midjourney now
Well, to be fair, background removal and of this type requires GPUs, which cost a fair amount of money. Also, their vectorization feature uses an API from a 3rd party, which is also fairly expensive.
Too bad they don't let you have your own server.
You can just message the bot directly.
@@TokenizedAI Currently that is something we are working on, the limit was reached for maximum servers that can have it. It should become available for more people very soon
tracejourney is paid now...
It always was. It just came with trial credits.
How does image scaling compare to doing it with GigaPixel? It's Vector so it should be much clearer than that?
You can scale your vector endlessly. Not sure if comparing that to GigaPixel is fair.
Paid sevice. only 10 free credits. There are a few really good mockup sites out there with way more easy-to-access resources (tees, leggings, etc). Vectors aren't always necessary, too.
P.S. Great content. (need to watch on 1.25 speed haha)
Nothing wrong with paid services. That's how everyone's salary is paid. People tend to forget that.
