I enjoyed seeing the differences in technique between cello and erhu. Some techniques can be reproduced, but others cannot. It was said in the video that the unique features of each instrument should be acknowledged. I agree! Cooperation is more important than competition. There is much opportunity for the exchange of musical instruments from different countries. Let's learn, laugh and appreciate music more! Hope you will make more videos like this.
Absolutely adore how much character and soul the Erhu has. I love cello but I have a soft spot for the erhu
The good sportsmanship makes me so happy!
There's no competition or challenges in musical instruments. Every instrument is unique in its way of playing, more over the sound produced. All these instruments unite in one specific way, music. They understand each other language and speak with it. But I like this kind of education video.
Hi TENG, I enjoyed this episode and I thought if you could do a 'Ruan vs Guitar' version, it would be splendid
Two instruments that I absolutely love, although I am a bit more infatuated with the erhu. Thank you so very much.
Erhu definitely wins in the mobility department 😅
Thanks for sharing that! Both instruments definitely shines in their own unique ways! 🤩
2:45 Woah that is a very cool technique on the erhu!
Loved it. I’m a retired cellist who is looking to pick up the Erhu and was wondering what some of the differences are 😊 thanks for sharing
Bravo Maestro! Ottimo glissando!
Thank you! :-)
Loved it.
The creepiest part about the erhu is the fact that part of it is actually made from horse hair and snake skin, so when he was doing that horse sound, I can imagine it almost like it's what a horse would sound like if it was fending/fighting off a snake
Yes, I enjoyed this video very much. Will be even better when both of you end the video by playing a piece of music together infusing the different technicques you've shown.
Thank you so much for your support! Stay tuned for our future episodes of TENG Backstage and you might be able to catch that!
This video is underrated
very interesting !
Actually the horse head fiddle used in Mongolia music is the best. It's a cross between the two.
Even if it were a cross between the two, that doesn’t make it better, just different.
Very poor reasoning.
erhu vs pedal steel guitar. the faceoff we from the west who listen to country music need.
Left hand pizzicato does appear in cello rep from time to time, but it’s not quite the same thing that was being demonstrated.
I’m trying to listen to them with an acute ear Yet! You have background music on the video ??????? Sad and frustrating
awesome
Thank you!
What is the difference between Gehu and Cello?
I can feel it’s uncomfortable when one party wins… 😂
Wouldn't zhonghu vs cello be more approriate?
How a violin/violin challenge?
forgot about harmonic notes/sounds on the cello
You should have switched bows
Ricochet?
I have not bothered to listen to this video These 2 guys are too entertaining to be genuinly interesting and l dont really care for the technicalities of either instrument BUT as a serious and dedicated Classical musician and pianist l must say that in terms of Tone quality and what this can mean to the mind nothing matches the ERHU lt can sound like the SOUL singing
Ehru better
🥳💯🤎👍
