I know I'm probably too late to have my comment seen, but I come with an important innovation me and my friend discovered on our blightfall playthrough. Using the Minefactory ranch, you can automatically milk mooshrooms for infinite mushroom soup. When you pump this into a thermal dynamics tank, you can use the minefactory straw to drink it directly from the tank for a saturation 2 buff which fills your hunger bar instantly. This is not affected by diminishing returns. Discovering this in our world was legitimately like discovering fire, and I only hope to be a discount prometheus for all who see this.

Having just beaten Blightfall, it's incredible how much Thaumcraft is capable of that I simply ignored because of my incredible distain for it... despite Blightfall maybe being my favorite modpack? A couple of things I noticed: - I think the food degradation mod is broken so that it resets degradation based on some very high number of items eaten instead of every 200 hunger refilled. This, for me, makes it even more annoying than usual. I ended up cheesing it (heh) by keeping stacks of cheesecake around, which when placed and eaten have no degradation (but also don't reset the degradation in case you want to eat something else). It got very funny how many 1-slice blocks of cheesecake I would leave around everywhere I went, often snagging them later whenever I returned and was down a hunger tick. Late game I filled up an enderium-lined tank with mushroom soup using a rancher and some mooshrooms from the island, and one bucket's worth when drunk through a straw fully refills hunger and saturation. - Enderium is your best melee weapon material by such a wide margin it's kind of insane. The rest of TC materials in this modpack is kinda.... half-baked, imo? I would need to go through my world again to collect better notes on it. - If you don't want to sweat armor much, including recharging the redstone armor thing or doing the blood magic armor, you can capture the tainted hero from the floating city (assuming he stays spawned when you purify it before going there), put him in a spawner, and farm him for his pretty good armor, including his traveler's boots, which I have sorely missed when playing minecraft since finishing Blightfall. For your challenge, I would recommend getting to the border as soon as possible, so you can boat around the blighted terrain to start making purified paths inwards where needed - getting to the void demiplane, whose portal is found in the stronghold in the northwest of the map, will help you a *lot,* especially in this challenge!
I was joking last episode about the goose breaking containment, but god lord I overstimated the integrity of this modpack, we went from gluten premium nuclear reactor, to a morality black pit making the genova convention a list of moraly ethic alternatives, also please, for the love of god, make a transportation system that is just entity cramming launchers
You can just use the config option that removes the minigame entirely and lets you buy research for knowledge points. Makes the deconstruction table more useful, and eating mana beans gives the knowledge point they contain so setting up a proper farming and breeding system becomes something worthwhile.
@@TheSphero which is the minigame config option? I thought I still remembered but I tried turning it off and it still wanted me to play matchmaker for hours. In the end I said f it and gave myself the cheatnomicon and a stack of soap.
Probably wont go unnoticed but your big dig series helped me through a tought breakup and ive been hooked on your videos since. Youre what i aspire to pull of every time i play a modpack.
so long as you have a little storage with a lot of the most used items for research and make sure you have stations set down to improve the odds of what you want, and make sure you have plenty of paper (golems can harvest that a little later on, making sure you never run out), it's actually a pretty entertaining roguelike minigame
your first episode on this challenge actually got me interested in playing the pack myself! normally though, challenge runs are not for me, personally :) going pretty well so far!
Also a bit of a spoiler for the endgame of Blightfall, and something introduced in one of the more recent (relatively speaking) versions: There is an unlockable recipe that indirectly leads to infinite Primordial Pearls. It's the recipe for a Giant Taintacle spawn egg. It is this recipe that made me realize that such a resource is borderline useless without desirable items that include it. You could theoretically make infinite Primal Crushers, I guess? Or jam a ton of pearls into one node to decimate the nearby landscape and flood it with flux juice, in the hopes of maybe getting some extra aspects. But otherwise it's kinda useless. Even the addons I mentioned in my other comment don't add much additional use for Primordial Pearls, barring Thaumic Horizon's pocket plane mechanic (which is a whole world harder to exploit without mods that let you directly inject nodes with desirable aspects, anyways.) You barely even need much pearls for other things in those addons, anyway. Tainted Magic uses them for some interesting endgame items like the Shard of Creation and Warpwood wand cores, and Thaumic Horizons has its Soul Beacon for enabling self-infusion. But those are, realistically, one-and-done affairs. There's no need for this! (Also hi, Firefox bugged out and I had to type all of this out in black text against a dark background. Fun!)
im imagining you sitting there while the game is frozen just thinking "great, what have i done now that unleashed the lightning apocalypse..." and after a minute it's gone and you're like "oh good, it sorted itself out"
So, so incredibly excited to see this. (While yes, I know I could have seen it early, it’s…not quite financially feasible to do so right now…which means I just get to wait happily for it~)
6:15 also, for those at home, you can also right click the buckets directly into the smeltery’s fluid drain (the part where you put the smeltery faucet) and it’ll auto-cook the obsidian in there, should you lack an igneous extruder!
19:18 I’d also typically recommend in metal-gated packs with TiCon to see if SDX is still in the pack. After all, ‘1 slime ball plus 1 TNT to guarantee all drops’ is a cheese the entire family can enjoy!
if you are interested in spawning vanilla hostile mobs, cursed earth does still spawn them fairly normally from the hostile mob farms ive built in the pack previously, and you can find an inactive division sigil on one of the small islands surrounding the large glacier (also nice for axe of healing).
something i love about Blightfall is that the bedrock is entirely flat within the area of the continent we're cleansing. thus making it possible for the cowardly(it's me, i'm the cowardly) to cleanse the entire area from underneath. just watch out for lava pockets.
While I love Blightfall to bits, one thing about it that upsets me to no end is the lack of a few addons for Thaumcraft that I, in my typical delusion, have convinced myself are mandatory to any TC4 playthrough. These are Thaumic Horizons and Tainted Magic. Tainted Magic is more of a personal thing, as I like having more magical materials to deck myself out in (and Shadow Fortress armor has arguable benefits to use over Awakened Ichorcloth armor), but Thaumic Horizon's exclusion from Blightfall feels particularly egregious, as it fills a few niches that inexplicably slot into the gameplay _perfectly,_ barring one that renders a mechanic no one likes moot. Is dying repeatedly upsetting your crew to the point of despair? Just resurrect yourself, then. Sick of taint poison? Why not infuse yourself with a Silverwood Heart? Want a lot of animals but are a staunch Luddite who hates using RF for anything? Clone a bunch of duplicates of your favorite pig, and why not spruce him up with an infusion? The only thing is that using Fames to un-starve yourself with minimal effort flies in the face of the infuriating decision to include Spice of Life, but again, nobody likes Spice of Life, so it can go screw itself. (For the record, in my Blightfall playthrough, I did do this until I progressed through Botania enough to get Gaia artifacts. The Fruit of Grisaia counters Spice of Life entirely, but at least has the justification of being an "end-game" item. And, for those who are particularly anal about game balance.... cakes still exist. They are immune to diminishing returns as well, and only cost like three farms. Even if you dislike exploits, there is still the loop of submitting bread to get emergency rations. So why do you care?)
For the curious, the benefits to using Shadow Fortress armor over Awakened Ichorcloth is: 1: It doesn't require Nether Stars to make the basic material for it, nor does it require gathering a bunch of esoteric knick-knacks for the final infusion. 2: I'm pretty sure the armor value of a complete set is way higher. I haven't checked though, but I'm basically invincible. 3: The vis discount across all three pieces of it is a consistent _5%,_ compared to the Awakened Ichorcloth's like... 4% or less. 4: You can infuse a fortress armor faceplate of your choice on it. Grinning Devil is a little bit moot since by that point you're warped out of your mind, but Sipping Fiend is slept on, and Vengeful Ghost is fun and cool-looking. 5: The dark blue color is really swag. Now, Awakened Ichorcloth has a lot of extra features to it that would make one want to use it, chief among them being the fact that the Robes of the Stratosphere grant creative flight when worn. That's a pretty big benefit... would be a shame if I could just make myself an angel ring that allows for the same thing. There's no shadow boots equivalent, but the Boots of the Voidwalker that Tainted Magic offers are still a serviceable pair of footwear, and match the rest of the suit's 5% vis discount. The main drawback of using Shadow Fortress armor is that _oh my god_ that is a hell of a lot of Warping, but past a certain level of exhaustion and/or apathy, you just learn to live with it.
22:32 People upvote this I saw a zombie around this time instantly spawn then despawn this might be the reason why mods don’t spawn it’s that they get auto yeeted out
Hey now, the Automagy logistics is really cool, it’s just terribly underpowered compared to everything else in the modiverse. I really enjoyed using it in a thaumcraft only playthrough.
Oh god how did Blightless Blightfall become a re-tread of Nothing with EVEN MORE frustration and war crimes!? When you crammed the villagers so hard that their collision boxes launched stuff several chunks over, it got me cracking up!
Don't know if this is useful to you at all now, but i found a way that I have not seen elsewhere on the internet that lets me transmute greatwood saplings into silverwood saplings using only 1 block and no power, this also works for greatwood logs into silverwood logs btw. Using the Minefactory Unifier you can change items into others with similar tags which i guess this version of thaumcraft uses. when in the interface with nothing else in the grid place a greatwood sapling in the top left, it will be converted into a weird dark oak sapling just called "oak sapling" then put a silverwood sapling anywhere in the grid on the right and put the "oak sapling" back through and it turns it into silverwood. I havnt done much testing myself to see what other stuff you can make with it, i just abused the hell out of it in my own run.
Also, a warning for bottling nodes: every time you bottle them, there is a chance they decrease one step in "brightness". Do this to a "faded" node, and the node breaks for good. Good luck!
That frame of the infusion core zapping several hundred entities almost made me snort while drinking- How do you manage to get so much cursed stuff to happen in your playthroughs omg
For some reason I have a dire vision of Goose somehow achieving worldwide purification by dousing every block in Silverwood potions because he thought the other options were too troublesome to mass produce.
Note on "impossible" taint spread: i would bet there is a cave under the ocean that is filled with taint slowly spreading towards your base. Can be absolutely annoying to deal with.

Then another of their videos got recommended to me and I had a brainwave. You sound, in many ways, the exact same as the guy on the Technology Connections youtube channel.
1:10 Say what you will about the reactors, but it could be worse. At least you don't need to use annoying-to-craft materials over and over again at costs going up by either 3^(x+1) (where x is the tier of the generator) or even as high as EIGHT^(x+1) for some mods just to get solar power that can keep up with a STANDARD MEKANISM METALLURGIC INFUSER I'm looking at you, "POWAH!" There is NO REASON you need to differentiate horizontal and vertical dielectric rods either Apologies, i have some frustrations with power mods at times. (Edit: The amount of people who have grown this exact same hatred from the exact same modpack of ATM9TTS is more than i expected)
Oh no yeah, I actively refuse to engage with Powah because of some of its mind-boggling decisions like these. I gave it a fair shake for the first time in ATM9Sky, immediately hated everything about it, and haven't touched it since.
Powah was genuinely the worst part of all the mods 9 to the sky. I hated every second of bashing my head into into it. Shame its slowly becoming a "staple" of modern packs. It also frustrated the hell out of me becuase the energizing system wasn't like properly automatable and I ran into so many issues having to mass produce items with it.

Even if you dislike exploits, there is still the loop of submitting bread to get emergency rations. So why do you care?)
For the curious, the benefits to using Shadow Fortress armor over Awakened Ichorcloth is:
1: It doesn't require Nether Stars to make the basic material for it, nor does it require gathering a bunch of esoteric knick-knacks for the final infusion.
Describing doors as an aphrodisiac because they force villager breeding is hilarious. Bless your heart Goose.
24:45 wow, a reference to Nothing!
Oh god how did Blightless Blightfall become a re-tread of Nothing with EVEN MORE frustration and war crimes!?
When you crammed the villagers so hard that their collision boxes launched stuff several chunks over, it got me cracking up!
I get so excited every time I see you post 🎉
yesss Ive been waiting patiently
21:07 did he just walk past flowers whose whole job is purifying taint to then pick up other flowers that do it worse or am I going insane
I'm guessing he just wanted to start at the top and work his way down on the whole 'looting the POI to the ground' thing.
i really like your videos :3 you bring joy to my bleak, compsci student life ^^
Ah yes, I see exploiting the weak applies to more than just those stuck in an endless void
question for the goose: has anyone ever called your goose sona a fursona
Perish
Wouldn't it technically be a feather-sona
o7 for AAAAAHH MY BALLLSSSS the enderman you were a brave soul
I decided to play along. I regret the decision, and am sticking with it.
Love watching your videos man
thaumcraft gods trying to murder you through frame lag at the alter 31:21
8:00 bro that went way too hard.
"High octane animal cruelty" killed me
I appreciate the reference to the Mojang lawsuit
Goose going "I hate this mechanic" was great.
Classic™️ Balanced™️ Thorncraft™️
Or in short: CBT™️ :>
The longer Goose plays a modpack, the more sure he is that warcrimes are the corner stone to progress when the difficulty is extremely high.
GOOSE IS EXTREMLY POLITICAL ABOUT DOORS
This has made me decide to play Blightfall (normally) with a friend
I'm so excited for this next episode.
Also, a warning for bottling nodes: every time you bottle them, there is a chance they decrease one step in "brightness". Do this to a "faded" node, and the node breaks for good. Good luck!
Absolutely great! I love it :)
That frame of the infusion core zapping several hundred entities almost made me snort while drinking- How do you manage to get so much cursed stuff to happen in your playthroughs omg
Doing cursed stuff causes cursed stuff, goose is just showing us the edge of madness
This is comedy gold more than anything!
For some reason I have a dire vision of Goose somehow achieving worldwide purification by dousing every block in Silverwood potions because he thought the other options were too troublesome to mass produce.
Absolute cinema
Ah, the joys of not having to deal with mob cramming
Note on "impossible" taint spread: i would bet there is a cave under the ocean that is filled with taint slowly spreading towards your base. Can be absolutely annoying to deal with.
I've been watching for a while and I always thought you sounded like another youtuber I watch occasionally but I couldn't put my finger on who. Then another of their videos got recommended to me and I had a brainwave. You sound, in many ways, the exact same as the guy on the Technology Connections youtube channel.
1:10 Say what you will about the reactors, but it could be worse. At least you don't need to use annoying-to-craft materials over and over again at costs going up by either 3^(x+1) (where x is the tier of the generator) or even as high as EIGHT^(x+1) for some mods just to get solar power that can keep up with a STANDARD MEKANISM METALLURGIC INFUSER
I'm looking at you, "POWAH!" There is NO REASON you need to differentiate horizontal and vertical dielectric rods either
Apologies, i have some frustrations with power mods at times. (Edit: The amount of people who have grown this exact same hatred from the exact same modpack of ATM9TTS is more than i expected)
a very understandable frustration no less
but... no one man should have all that powah!
Mekanism + Flux Networks yet again reign supreme
The bedrockium in question:
I don't know if this material woll be actually useful, but it sure does need a lot of cobblestone
based neurotic goose realeases new episode
Yey! More of the funny goose!❤
It's notable that Yellorium is oredictionaried with Uranium, meaning you can use Uranium in all the same cases you can use Yellorium.
ahhh, good I can see part 2 now! woo!
Goose going "politics" is very entertraining
goose I love you my sweet summer fowl
ok the chicken reveal got me
I’m goosed up and ready to rumble
Splendid video, commenting for algorithm
