Never ever came across African snails in the past, but now they have invaded my garden and feasting away on my precious plants. My Pellionias, Gynura Procumbens, Gynura Pseudochina, Talinum Triangulare etc. are now just sticks. Anyway now am going try the yeast n sugar trap as suggested.

I’ve tried beer traps, and caught some strange looking bugs, which got out minutes before I picked the cup up! I wondered if it was also catching the slugs. I will research

I have a slug city on the one side of my garden while the other side is basically normal if not hardly any. I've been trying to figure it out for days. At night they all jump around at once into the ground. And then if I'm weeding in the daytime they jump at me and shit. Well it turns out I sprinkled some egg shells almost 2 months ago on the one side of the garden and obviously this has made them all run to the other side lol this is great. Shows it works. Time to cook some eggs and have a beer

      Here are the steps,
      1) Add two tspoons of sugar and one packet of east in a disposable plastic glass.
      2) Add 3/4 th lukewarm water in the container and stir it with spoon
      3) Take any oil and apply to top inner part of the glass. This will prevent any slugs not to crawl outside
      4) Prepare such kind of containers and burry them in the garden bed till top level fo the container.

Iron phosphate works on them if you don’t mind killing them, just keep it in an undisturbed corner and perhaps oil the side of whatever container you choose like the video said. Never dealt with slugs as an IPM tech, mostly thrips, caterpillars.

I had the same problem. They live and play in the tree next to and overhanging parts of my garden. And there are MANY of 'em in my neighborhood as well as some rabbits though I haven't had issue with the latter. They'll knock the chestnuts (or whatever they are) off the tree, some landing in my garden bed, and then go get them later. I used to offer them some scraps (e.g. apple cores) away from my plants, but that only encourages them if you aren't constantly doing it--they go where the food is. I've chased several up the tree and even threw a pair of nunchaku at one I saw climbing down while I was doing some martial arts training. I began to do rigorous training with my heavy bo staff around said tree just when they are waking up and thinking about breakfast. Hell, I even considered paying to remove the tree so they'd leave my plants alone--an expensive over-reaction to be sure. I also bought some 110 connibear traps and had a talk, if you will, telling them that I'm eating SOMETHING from my garden whether it's veggies or squirrel. They took the aggressive hint so far last season and ventured out to safer foraging grounds so I have yet to set any traps (and hope I do not have to this year). I used to love squirrels until I started gardening a few years ago. My advice? If you don't want to do any of that, then get a dog to chase them away. Or a bebe gun. Remember also that they can cause a lot of damage to your home, chewing up wiring for instance. As far as I know, there are no plants, sprays, etc., that deter those tree rats; they are animals, so speak to them like an animal (i.e. be territorial). Hope this helps.
