    Slides are just more problems, the stablizers can be replaced with power stablizers, but let's face it, this is a True 4 Season trailers!!!!
    Great to see quality, and solar friendly!

    Those thermo pane windows are much more valuable than ostensibly seen in R value- if the Sun (930w per sq meter) strikes them, the outer pane gets way hot, the inner pane is vastly closer to the inner temp. This is far and away the most important thing when hoping to cool on a hot sunny day.
    The insulated shell is ridiculously better than any other RV I know of.

      Good Morning!! Couldn't agree more, some places really downplay what Thermal Pane windows do for you between temperatures and sound. Thanks for watching!! Camping Cass

      Had this 27fs for a month. The basics are solid, there are perhaps a dozen smaller problems, knocking them out one by one. Only one problem is workmanship, the rest are supply chain (devices manufactured elsewhere, controllers, refrigerator, etc) problem oriented.
      Still, glad I stepped up. Northwood still makes a high quality product, so when the bugs are gone, mostly are, will have a high quality product.

    My mind was set on buying a toy hauler for two reasons, dirt bike for some weekends and on the long run going on a trip across Canada with our Goldwing in the back. Now few people told me that sharing a living space with toys filled with fuel may not be quite comfortable. A toy hauler would be the best thing for us with the project that we have, but i'm a bit scared. A few comments would be much appreciated from those who own toy haulers...tks!

    • @outdoorrvspecialist
      @outdoorrvspecialist  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good Morning! Sharing your living space with toys does come with some challenges. You will have some smell from them and pending the toy, you may have to move it out of the unit to utilize the seating, beds etc. If it is just dirt bikes, you should be able to leave them inside and utilize the seating. On the flip side, if a person went to a garage model toy hauler to avoid the slight smell, TT or FW, the length of the unit bumps up higher. Just in my mind, I think a lot depends on where you like to go camping, is it going to be tight? Or do you go where it is wide open spaces? Some people will do with a shorter standard 5th wheel and pull a trailer behind with the toy in it. That has it conveniences on one hand having comfortable living quarters. But the drawback is tandem pulling. Some states don't allow tandem pulling and pulling into fuel stops face challenges. Lastly, kind of on the same subject but not. I think the quality of the unit you buy makes a big difference on the like ability of the unit from what I've seen through the years. Hopefully that helps and please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!! Camping Cass

      The impact is minimal and you can easily minimize any fuel smell by draining the fuel from a motorcycle, and also washing them before you put them away. It’s never been a problem for us at all and nothing that opening the trailer up for a few minutes doesn’t alleviate.

      The Desert Fox (24AS or 27FS and more) have TWO tiny vents, rear and low and forward and high specifically to air out the fumes from your toy in your hauler. They are designed to use rushing air as you drive OR hot air in the trailer to continually, SLOWLY, vent the interior. I must say again, Northwood is something really special due to myriad details. Truthfully, though, I think many toy haulers have these vents of necessity.

    For a 75k unit those are pretty pitiful stabilizer jacks. The inside is a bit cluttered now if it had a slide that would be nice.

    • @outdoorrvspecialist
      @outdoorrvspecialist  ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't want anything too elaborate for stabilizers with most folks taking these off road, most people like the clearance. But an easy upgrade we would do for anyone would be to install Rock Solid Stabilizer jacks like Jayco is doing, they are for real. Thanks for watching!! Camping Cass

      If you want all the goodies buy mainstream. Arctic Fox gives you the good stuff where you can’t see. The construction is superior and the quality. One of these will outlive and outperform the best mainstream brand and than some.

    • @MindFusion-ij1xl
      @MindFusion-ij1xl 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is a problem with no efficient solution- if you want to preserve the Toy Hauler space for a Toy, you cannot bring a box shaped slide inwards and retain the Toy space. I tried once to imagine how and it is rather complex and inefficient.
      If you must, must, have a slide, they dramatically expand interior useable space, give up the toy hauler. IMO the logic is insurmountable here.

    Why are there bundles of wires hanging down underneath the carriage? I've noticed this on several Northwood Models. 3-6 inches of Pigtailed wires just poking out underneath waiting for something to rip them off. What feature or purpose does this serve?

    • @outdoorrvspecialist
      @outdoorrvspecialist  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! These are test wires for holding tank sensors. Thanks for watching!! Camping Cass

    • @MindFusion-ij1xl

      Though the (below) video and poster is right, there IS some wires just behind the propane tanks that I saw that seem to mysteriously appear unkempt on my 24AS- I forgot until you mentioned it. Mine had no tank heaters.
      Lets face it, God is not who makes Northwood, they are merely the best of the best, I think you pointed out a genuine imperfection. Good one!

    I have two questions about Desert Fox 24AS, but they're generally applicable to the 27FS as well.
    #1) The 24AS lists a payload of 4200 lbs, but a sticker attached to one unit listed ~2800 lbs. Most items supposedly come standard, so I could not reconcile the 1400+ lb payload disparity. I was unable even if everything was optional (happijack, generator, empty propane cyl., etc.) Can you clarify and say what a REAL average is?
    #2) Wood, particle board and luan are inferior to a synthetic, like Azdel. Does Northwood use a synthetic paneling in the walls and/or roof?

    • @MindFusion-ij1xl
      @MindFusion-ij1xl 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You left out FRP and plywood. Both of these may have a bad name, plywood is superior to solid wood in many RV purposes, FRP (fiberglass reinforced plywood) has good insulation values, stays flat, blocks sound, holds clear (gel) coat well, and, if interior not foolishly kept closed up, sweating, good for decades. If you see some FRP equipped RVs with concave dents, this means they heated it up, lots of moisture, and the FRP on inside swelled, as the exterior gelcoat stayed firm, and the walls cave in.
      If you turn a box like an RV into a near icebox in insulating quality (even if the heat is inside, the cold outside) the humidity factors inescapably damage the interior.
      Risking overposting, if you want a 24AS or 27FS to stay warm, heat tanks, stay dry inside at 0 degrees F, you must crack the bathroom vent just a bit so the escaping heat will also transport the moisture out, otherwise you damage the coach. It is not a manufacturing defect, it is an artifact of an extremely well built, insulated, box, or trailer.

    • @gregparrott
      @gregparrott 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@MindFusion-ij1xl Thanks for the reply. Yes, even the materials you mentioned can experience warpage, delamination or other issues. That's why I lean towards the synthetics, like Azdel. Azdel is great, but I don't think it is used as a base structural material for exterior walls. I've seen some builds where a structural foam is used for exterior panels. I would place a high value for the use of construction materials that will not warp, delaminate, mold, weaken, etc. In the event that the roof or siding leaks, or condensation or temperature gradients occur.

    • @MindFusion-ij1xl
      @MindFusion-ij1xl 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gregparrott you’ve made me curious about Azdel, will look into it. There is a lot of moisture from breath, cooking, shower, heating secondary effects, it goes into anything and everything that is porous,, sponge, cloth, leather, and wood surfaces.
      I cannot think how all these can be replaced with a substance that it does not have porous qualities, but I like how you politely challenge my point of view. Good luck.
