In a lot of ways, Hawk knew he didn’t deserve Tim over how he pushed him away and betrayed him, but what’s ironic is that in spite of that, Hawk always needed Tim more than Tim needed him, and for Tim he was there for Hawk when he didn’t have to be and saved him in a lot of ways by loving him through everything no matter what which is why Hawk loved and needed him. More from Hawk though he does deserve some sympathy considering that although he hurt Tim; Tim still lived an open life and had peace and comfort with what he did and who he was surrounded by, whereas Hawk always had to hide and lie about himself to be safe and maintain the life he chose for himself which he was only really happy with *in reason* - Hawk was responsible for his own choices but deep down he always wanted to live free and be open as Tim was and with him, but couldn’t because he chose the easy way out even though it was anything but easy for him.

I watched Queer As Folk in 2007 the beginning are quite slow and sad ending for the last episode. But this movie is whole new level only first season I already fall in love and I can’t move on and I can’t even wait for new season/episode. Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey such a great actor! The storyline really touch my heart.

*He’s had a couple romances. Nothing that lasted. Something kept getting in the way.* Although Marcus was talking solely about Tim, I’d say that those words all ring true for both Tim and for Hawk. Hawk married Lucy but he never loved her how she deserved and had to live through their 30 years of marriage knowing that she never had from him and that it was only ever Tim who he held that for. Hawk was also hooking up emotionlessly with men before and even when they were married which hurt Lucy but she had comfort as her mother told her knowing that Hawk always came back to her and the rest was all about the meeting of needs. But with Tim, that’s where it really struck Lucy knowing that he was always the only one who Hawk’s heart and desire truly was with. Lucy deserves sympathy but also respect for not tearing Hawk away from Tim in the end and having the respect to tell him to stay and see everything unfinished between them through even though she was hurting from it. For Tim, he was always told and warned by so many that Hawk was bad for him, that he had to let him go and get over him, but Tim always had Hawk; Hawk always needed Tim more, and even throughout everything, Tim always loved him and no one else got close to his heart like how he’d been the only one to get to Hawk’s.
Kinda resent Hawk without even watching the entire series I feel like Hawk ruined Tim s life .I can tell he made him fall in love with him then abandoned him .But at the same time I want to shake Tim , Hawk had so many red flags .At the same time both their lives were ruined by the time and circumstances they lived in , Hawk seems to be better of but he compartmentalises everything ,no one in his life really knows him
Have not read the book .I'm basing it on how Tim is alone and sick in present day and Hawk is married and successful .Tim s sister also pointing out that he never got over Hawk implies he didn't live a particularly full life.
There is another movie with Matt Bomer called The Normal Heart which came out in 2014. Also stars Mark Ruffalo, Jim Parsons and Julia Roberts about the AIDS epidemic during the Reagan years. I always hated Reagan but after watching this movie, I knew my hate was justified. Excellent movie but let’s just say I kept a box of tissues next to me.
Loved The Normal Heart. Mark Ruffalo tried so hard to save his partner, Matt Bomer. AIDS, what a horrible plague. So many beautif 3:49 ul people died all because conservative white men were afraid of their own homoerotic fears and tendencies. 🎉🎉

I haven't seen this series other than clips, but it makes me angry how they have deviated from the novel. The series bastardizes the novel into a cheap soap opera. I don't know how Andrew Mallon could have approved of this. Maybe he sold the rights and had no say in it. Awful.
