You should NEVER put chicks under a hen in broad daylight. 😱 You need to do it in the dark at night time, with as little use of a flashlight as possible. They usually will then accept them by morning. She is still in what I call a "broody coma". She may be one of those, that needs to hear her chicks peeping from inside the eggs, and hatches them herself. 🤷♀️
Lol stop torturing baby chicks and remove them after they have been attacked it doesn’t take them being pecked 30 x to know they mother is not safe / broody good mama glad you had Bonnie .
There’s no rhyme or reason why a broody hen will and will not accept the chicks. My broody left her clutch early and I needed to incubate the ones she left. When I reintroduced them she accepted them at first but two days later had scalped them. I see this scenario playing out over and over here with my hens and from others here on YT. I’m thinking they just sense something is wrong with the chicks in that maybe they’re weak or simply not hers. It’s just how it goes sometimes and it’s not usually the human’s fault.
there was two mothers that came to my backyard but for some reason one of the mother rejected one of them and started pecking at it and i found it at the side of my house crying out for its mom i was hoping it would be reuinited with is mother in the backyard but once the chick reunited she instantly started pecking at it. idk if it was sick or what but it made be sad. i tried to follow them but they eneded up under some brush and fencing. if i ever see a chick crying out for mother again i will take care of it myself.
Do your hens peck at you/hurt you? I've never seen that before. Mine thankfully are super tame can be picked up and touched no problem. Maybe its the hormones!
I wouldnt have left her that long with the chicks, shes saying no right from the start.( black hen) Not sure why you need to throw the chicks under? Are you scared of your hens ? Maybe im lucky but all i have to do is lift my girls wings. I have one hen that will pecķ but not enough to do damage.
Think it’s just different methods of introduction to mother hen. There’s like multiple methods, of course the night time method being the most popular and reportedly the most successful. But then there is the daytime method that is what our friend here is doing. The daytime method, there seems to be 2-3 versions of it. Some of it is like introducing them one by one by placing the babies under them and watching if they coo to the babies or do a warning call, while others I’ve seen are more like this.
Good question? Some hens hatch out their eggs and kill their own chicks. Until you know what the hen will do with babies, you need to watch carefully. After the first time you should know the hen will pretty much always accept babies.

I agree with you! Thanks for your comment. Most comments on here aren't very nice. :)
You are afraid of that hen
Why are scared of broody hen by throwing the chick?

The baby is scared of the white one because of how the first one was to them
Turning on light or putting chicks during daylight...??????!!!!!!
Tink is a nice guy to mother the new chicks ♥️
Do it at night time.
why not just put them under the hen instead of throwing and shoving them? the broody hen won’t hurt you
Our man is what we call a “sissy” 😂
Ouch
@@strophishwow, how rude.
@@randygreen007 Am I wrong? 🤣
@@randygreen007 I could’ve used a much more rude word than sissy. I think I was actually quite polite. If anything, he is rude to the chickens!

Haha well these broody mammas like to peck at me, but they are pretty docile normally.
Mission Accomplished.. I'm So happy that Tink accepted all the baby chicks and decided to be a Mom! 🐤🐤🐤
What a great video.. Thanks!

Why broody hens accept the chicks while some others don't?
