    Question, even though there isn't a check valve in the main, isn't there checks in the nipples on top of the water heater itself? That wouldn't let expanded water back up into the main?

    Hey Steve, the only CYA you should have probably done is to replace the PRV drain pipe so it's code compliant (i.e. water comes out at floor level vs. 2'-ish at 18:59). Otherwise, if someone gets burned and you last touched the PRV... (you know the rest...)

    Should have put in an st8 expansion tank for that heater... if it was electric thats one thing as they heat slower but gas heats faster and i always put an expansion tank on, especially since the T&P was going off.

    • @neverenoughtime3151
      @neverenoughtime3151 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      See 20:21 as to why he didn't. Unless you have a check valve, the expanding water pushes back through the meter and there's no need for expansion tank.

    • @johnm4556
      @johnm4556 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@neverenoughtime3151 No that is just a shitty excuse as to why not to put one in. He complained about putting a ball valve in. Its a cheap tank and covers your ass if anything went wrong. Laziness is why it wasn't done right. Not bashing another plumbers work, just saying he should look out for things like that. Unless his state doesnt require an expansion tank. I get his work is repair and so is mine but dont do a half fast job. Do it right the first time and you won't have a call back.
