    A bit of info on each speaker or mic when mousing over them would be great. Year and type, that sort of thing.

    Surprisingly the 96 and 03 are the closest to the sound in my head. I came to the conclusion it was not a v30 but a "greenback" maybe 4 or 5 years ago but never realized that it was this era specifically. explains why I never got a long with the creambacks. the blackbacks are really really close.

      @The Real Bud Swayze pretty good “cheap” mic to record cabs with is like an SM57 for $100 so you got $100 left, where can you find a good cab for that price? nolly has spent thousands and thousands of dollars on all of these cabs and speakers combined, not to mention over a thousand dollars worth of mics to choose from, a team behind him doing the same thing for multiple years, micing them up properly and giving them to us for this price. $200 on a setup even close to this is remotely impossible not to mention having the knowledge to mic the cab and having the preamps he has available at hand to give us the best possible options for a huge discount in the grand scheme of all of this.

    • @kronabus199a
      @kronabus199a ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jackclay9145 agreed! And the Goldstack plug-in is currently priced at $40, so I’m not sure where the other commenter came up with $200 lol. Hell, it’s $35 for Cali Cabs right now, and given how expensive it is to source those early-2000s V30s, that’s an absolute steal to achieve that iconic sound.

    I remember when these came out. I was like, before I'll buy it, I'll wait for the "deep-dive review" content of Nolly and Rabea just like what they did from the last GGD Studio Cabs Cali. A couple days after.... I bought mine! Got no time to wait 😎 I knew that it would sound great. Haha

    At first, while using the plugin, I thought Glassy was the Heavy Magnetic Greenback (G12H 30W) because of it's brightness and Syrupy sounded like a Classic 20W Pulsonic so I was surprised when you said it is all 25W speakers. Thank you guys for all the info and nice riffs played here! One cool thing is that Rabea uses a 69 GB (so, pulsonic cone) and a Blackback from 76 in his Neural Archetype Plugin so probably he feels at home with these tones.

    I could listen to Nolly and Rabea talk for hours !! Man how I love these videos. I would really love to have one plugin where I can select Zilla, Cali and Goldstack cabs and mics. This would be really amazing for the workflow and I hope you guys would add soon an automatic volume compensation when blending several cabs and IRs. I am sometimes struggling with the Fletcher Munson effect while experimenting. Anyway Rock on guys and thank you for making this world a better place !!!

    In the past few years I've owned a Marshall 4x12 from the year 1969 with the original speakers. Warehouse 'Green Berets' and the newer Celestion made EVH speakers. All were great in their own way, but the old Marshall was REALLY soft in the high end and would only pair up well with something like a strident sounding 80's JCM800.

  • @alrecks619
    @alrecks619 ปีที่แล้ว

    is that some sort of weird crankshaft thing going on the back? lol. Apparently there are G12M25 Blackbacks because the green plastics ran out of supply.
    Edit : also can't help but to notice about the whole pre-rola thing, pulsonic cones, whatever that can affect the sound of each classic speakers.

  • @charleslivingston803
    @charleslivingston803 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks, this was kind of needed! There’s no instructions on the website (except installation) and no reference chart for the cabs/speakers. Not necessarily needed since they all sound great, but it’s fun to know this stuff.
    This is the best Marshall IR package available. Celestion’s own Speakermix Pro is a phasey thin mess. There’s a difference when someone passionately curates best examples of historic speakers and captures them expertly.

    Is it possible to mix and match between the other GGD cabs (Cali & Zilla) or would you have to export as an IR from one to load it into the other? If not then that would be a pretty sweet addition down the road!
