I think the 30+ club is not really feeling it or maybe its me. I just watched the tribute. Keke and Teyana took me back to actual video and live performances. Kinda what you said Usher and Beyonce live performance. I felt the same on wanting some male performers, such as Lucky Daye to perform. I think even Bruno and Anderson Paak would have did Usher justice too. Ne-yo is another one. Honestly I am sick of the sex and lingerie performances all over the stage. All the grinding is not music performances. When have you ever saw MJ, Janet, Aaliyah, etc. grinding as though it's choreography? It's annoying. I hope they actually hire some true choreographers to make performances good
No it’s not just you I think it’s safe to say the 30+ is over it! I enjoyed the ladies but I think a few talented male artist would’ve elevated that tribute. The twerking in underwear is exhausting but I guess that’s wat this youth likes.
So, true. I hadn’t watched The BET awards in years. The last time it was even interesting to watch was back when Monique was hosting. . . BUT! I did catch some parts this year and all I can say is that it was overall a cringey to watch. It was more twerking, half-nakedness, and ratchetness going on than I could ever digest in one night. I didn’t think it made sense for majority of women to do a tribute to Usher. I was hoping to see Tank, Genuwine, Tyrese, Chris Brown, Luke James, or hell! Justin Beibers up there for the performances. I feel like either the award show tried to cater too much to Gen Z or that there is some type of theme taking place where women empowerment was the focus. But from what I saw, it’s showing me that life and time is getting very weird. The performance by Will Smith was good, but I do feel like when Will Smith presents himself now he is always trying to make up for his mistake. I think most of us have moved on and realizes that he is human, too, but I need him to stop feeling sorry for himself because at this point in time, we have given him grace. Bad Boys 4 was spectacular and we should be still talking about that and not this redemption song that I feel was very forced in my opinion. This year just didn’t have any organization and was overall corny. I think we need to go back to when Monique was hosting because at least the award show had dignity.
Coco Jones was the only woman I felt belonged in that tribute and did it right! But aside from that it needed more men and more women from Usher's era (90s/early 2000s)
Time's just change i don't know if it's because we are older or what but awards shows fell off especially BET I think the problem is these artists doesn't have any star power what made lil kim stand out was her music didn't sound the same & we didn't see her so much & we had balance social media made us see celebrities so much we don't care for them anymore
I agree it’s a combination of both, we have outgrown it and the star quality is just not there. No artist development just industry plants with a mic and a stage.
Yes!! Stars were STARS in our (Gen X) day. Its because they were not accessible. Couldn't reach out and 'touch' them on twitter, facebook, instagram. We had to go to the store to purchase a magazine, cut the poster out, and tape them on our bedroom wall to look at them everyday. Now, they can just pull them up on your phone on a whim. And we didn't know their political opinions on everything.
so true. You used to be happy to see certain celebs. You didn't have access to them like that and it was about their talent. Now its exhausting. not as many talented ones, but a few
smh, it’s ONE hit song lol not a hit ALBUM. let’s tell the truth: she looks like a teenager so they have her appealing to the creeps. she’s pretty. & her “hit song” is about an abundance of female ejaculation…..i mean, let’s be serious.
You were on point with this review. Very accurate observation. There was not enough male representation. I don’t see longevity in what some people are now calling the EBT awards.
How is it not your business my beautiful, when all of everybody's faves are thirty plus... We grew up with these artists; So I think we still have some range to have an opinion...
Girl you so right Tyla a pretty girl and I want to root for her but she to simple for me. I didn't like lotto performance this year but the past 2 yrs she would kill it. And I'm really starting to like sexy red. Keke killed that shit!! I keep watching it over and over ❤❤❤ Big Glo and Megan baby don't play with them ❤❤❤ Chole did great as always and Tianna Taylor and Victoria eat that shit. ❤❤❤
I think Usher was trying to show hes into women and not men... meaning it was his way of saying "No i wasnt doing anything with Diddy"...either way...Usher ...we know the truth....or I'll speak for myself.."I" know the truth...all the cursing...that was his way of saying im a bad dude...im a "man"...he was "trying" too hard imo..js...hope you guys get what I'm saying...just sad that he had to do all that😢
You could be North West's older sister. However, the BET Awards show was weird because it have an agenda focused on women and young girls, aiming to align them to vote for Kamala Harris if Biden drops out of the presidential race and lgbtv. BET is owned by CBS Entertainment Group.
Tyla is a 1 hit wonder cudos to her but all those awards not. Lauren Hill killed it. Dirty Red please don't, Will Smith? The whole show is just ghetto. And yes where were all the men? Tiana Taylor killed it ❤ Chloe did a good job as well.
Idk wut sexy red be saying or why they line her. I can't vibe either. JKwon was fire 🔥. Lauryn Hill n Son was good. I like the country. I like Will Smith song. The word's are meaningful. He didn't need kirk franklin. Keke Palmer did great. Coco Jones nokd it out!! Teyanna killed it¡¡¡

@@itsjustmejenny3745 I reckon so. Make sure you pronounce "lingerie" like Wanda from In Living Color. lol
looks like a stripper show instead of an award show....
👏🏾 agreed !
You're right. It's only for Gen Z.
We need our own award show at this point lol
This award was foolish period.😡😡😡
BET Awards is not for any body, any age, any sense. It was The Magic City Awards for pimps and strippers.
They should have let Chris Brown do Usher Tribute
Right. The whole thing
Girl you are so right it’s scary 😅😅😅😅
Hello.. GREAT JOB with ur commentary. Really enjoyed your energy.
Thank you so much 🙂

You were on point. Nowhere like it used to be. Ratchet. 3. There's a lot of entertainers out here that aren't shaking their butts.
Coco Jones was the only woman I felt belonged in that tribute and did it right! But aside from that it needed more men and more women from Usher's era (90s/early 2000s)
Chloe did great too don't ya think?

Where were all the Men
They want you to embrace women (that way)😘
Prison most likely.
@@truthtorpedo4068😮😮😮😂😂😂😂😂
Probably there, with dresses on lol
Don't broadcast this mess. For the whole world to see this buffoonery.
I don't know how you got in my head but you did, took a seat and stayed a while. GGUURRRLLLA!
I dont understand how tyla is getting these awards so early technically she's still a new artist but i really enjoyed you're commentary
Right....
You don't get awards based on how long you've been in the business. She had a HUGE record. Deserved every award she got.
smh, it’s ONE hit song lol not a hit ALBUM. let’s tell the truth: she looks like a teenager so they have her appealing to the creeps. she’s pretty. & her “hit song” is about an abundance of female ejaculation…..i mean, let’s be serious.
It leaves you feeling empty!!!!!
I'll say it, the show was for women only. Men didn't need to show up at all.
Whoops 🤭 it was giving very much “who run the world…”
