Correction- Tinubu square is named after Madam Tinubu, the popular Lagos Market Leader/ trader of the 19th century. Her statue is what you saw at the square. It was built in commemoration of Nigeria’s independence in 1960.

Efforts should be taken to stop people from saying all sorts of rubbish that are quite misleading because sometimes it incite hatred and causes confusion, imagine this uneducated- public nuisance saying Tinubu owns 99% of buildings in Tinubu square more reason why so called place is called Tinubu square, rubbish !. Tinubu is not even indigene of Lagos by blood and he was adopted by the family and that place has been there since late 70s to early 80s and named after madam Efunroye Tinubu .

Do you even know the meaning of Tinubu ? Osun state doesn’t have beach and in Yoruba “ibu” means big water, so my friend stop saying what you don’t know okay. if you want the history of Lagos i will lecture you from Ejo ngboro ( Herbert Macauley) to Sir Mobolaji Johnson to Baba kekere ( Lateef Kayode Jakande) who’s real origin was actually from present day Kwara state.By the way, i have got nothing against there actual origin because we are all Yoruba. My dispute remains Tinubu square wasn’t named after Bola Tinubu as that idiot implies okay

Marina/Broad Street/Nnamdi Azikwe Ave. Balogun/Martins Street is the old CBD (Central Business District) of Lagos in the 1900s up to late 1990s when the once residential, neigbouring Victoria Island assumed the new CBD. The other side of Lagos Island (Dosumu, Agarawu, Igbosere, Bamgbose,Campos, Epetedo and Lafiaji areas) are the residential areas where Lagos (Eko) indigenes live. A very good tour guide, no doubt an indigene.

A lot was done and is still been done but our people are very difficult. When Tinubu was Governor he's the one that tried to revive the CBD to its full glory, he interlocked all the roads and built the drainages, he was the one that put those concrete flower pots that has CBD written on them, he created the CBD police that puts on grew shirt and black trousers. Due to economic realities it would seem as though the Govt didn't have a human face so they had to relax the law enforcement in that area cos they kept arresting people and seizing goods.
