  • Welcome to another insightful webinar from Special Education Academy, where we empower you to be the best advocate for your child's education. In this session, Karen Mayer Cunningham, the Special Education Boss, demystifies the process of writing effective IEP goals.
From understanding what an IEP goal is, to learning how to construct them, Karen provides a comprehensive guide to ensure your child's success. She emphasizes that special education is about teaching children skills to manage their disabilities, not about making those disabilities disappear.
In this webinar, you'll learn about:
    * The different types of IEP goals: behavioral, functional, academic, language, and communication.
    * The importance of tailoring goals to the child's unique needs and circumstances.
    * The role of present levels in determining the gap and setting appropriate goals.
    * The SMART framework for writing IEP goals: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound.
Karen's approach to special education is akin to coaching, and she believes that setting the right IEP goals is like setting the game plan for a winning season.
Whether you're a parent, an advocate, or a school-based member, this webinar will equip you with the knowledge and strategies you need to ensure successful student outcomes.
