Even the smalltalk in cruise is realistic, love it 😂 It can get really dull at FL350 if you can’t find anything to chat about.

@@TheFlightDoc I have the absolute privilege of flying a 737 for a day job. It’s cool watching people really get into their hobby but not take it too seriously and still have fun with it.

London isn't the easiest place to start, but after a while, you kinda start knowing what they're going to ask you if you fly a few times there. If you want an other challenge, try Germany on a week end :p Or hey, come to see us in Paris sometimes.

Love your channel! I have been flying on Vatsim for a while but was in the exact situation you were here! I did my first flights as VFR Circuits at a GA Aircraft.
Thats awesome! Did you progress to IFR and more complex aircraft?
@@TheFlightDoc Yeah. Started of VFR doing circuits then flights between two aerodromes.
Then started doing IFR flights with ATC and once I was confident, moved to IFR flights in the B737 and A320, kinda like IRL. Still yet to do my first transatlantic.

This is mad exciting but must be hugely stressful.. You did awesome job.. I watched a beyond atc video yesterday, I could see that being used for training as a nicer intro to talking to real atc
It was the most stressful the first time around and it has gotten exponentially easier every time afterwards :) I did a video on Beyond ATC, I liked it as a tool for when vatsim is offline (a common occurence living in Australia!) and for training ifr for vatsim :)

This is why splitting of roles is so important across the aircraft for the pilot flying and pilot monitoring

Nice video - just discovered your channel and I like your content. Vatsim ATC are very understandable and help you if you say to them you are new, take it slow and I don’t suggest playing vatsim on large events like *cross the pond or anything where airports are very busy. You’ll get there someday and be a pro

Great video! Would recommend that both do the MCDU setup when doing shared cockpit. Seems like it does not sync for me, and it looked the same from your video (to have the same flight plan). Great video!

If this is the FBW A32NX I suggest upgrading to the dev version, since it's got way more features and less glitches. Keep it going and hope you have fun on vatsim!

I also remember how scared I was on my first time. To make it worse I annoyed controllers by not having charts so I got lost in taxiways😂

Man I'm getting old. I use to play it all the time as a kid. Ive never played the modern one though. I use to live next to an AFB and go to the airshows all the time. I wanted to be a fighter pilot when I was young

Really video for sure! You handled it nicely but first flight on VATSIM already into London Airspace... I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone starting on VATSIM as this is the busiest airspace on VATSIM and actually requires some skill

Used the ‘your controls’ program! It wasnt without its bugs😂 but it worked quite well

@@TheFlightDoc that’s wonderful news! Hopefully it works for the Fenix. If not the fbw will have to do! Last time I used it I had a bug where the landing gear and throttle were out of sync. Caused manyyyy issues 😭

I've been flying MSFS2020 since release and the only reason I have never joined Vatsim is because I'm also scared.
Honestly, give it a go, it is definitely scary the first time, but it gets so much easier from there!

Can someone explain why real players appear to be in like ai planes or generic planes? The only plane that looks like normal is a320neo every other plane looks generic/AI I’m on xbox
Vatsim injects the traffic into MSFS so that you can see the other players on the network. For example if you're taxiing sometimes ATC will ask you to follow a plan infront or something so it's good to have that plane infront even if it is generic

Why were you using an outdated A320N? Because most instruments seemed to be INOP
Its a freeware aircraft, and most of the systems are not INOP, its much better than most a320s
The flybywire is a bit less complicated, less to go wrong on a flight using the ‘your controls’ software

When your playing shared cockpit like this how does the game know who is flying and who is monitoring? by this i mean how does it know whos controls to "listen" to and thus avoid erroneous inputs from the ither pilots controls e.g. when he presses the radio tx button on his yoke. Looks like you guys had a fun time playing!
you can 'share controls' so the game knows one of you is the one 'controlling' vs 'observing' :D
