Check the dealer first for parts Price 2001 400ex clutch cable was $7.00 and adjuster bracket was $4.00. Cable on eBay was $20 and the bracket was $19.00 thanks.
You get it set on the bottom then you can adjust where you like your lever on the bars with the knurled nut that's on the end of the cable. I prefer mine to engage quick so i have a decent amount of play in the actual clutch lever.
you have to pull the colored lenses out. the green and red. then you can push the rubber holders out.i have mine under the bar clamps and the key is on the right side plastic next to the reverse switch. just drilled a hole and popped it in. cant run aftermarket bars with that stock control piece.
check the reverse lever. my 300 did that and locked into gear. The one on the shift lever side. thought I smoked the tranny but played with it and it went back to normal.
The only flaw on this quad. Why the hell run the clutch cable through the header pipes?? I've ran through like 20 cables in the past 10 years because of this. Once they get burned the cable comes right through the cover.
the clutch adjustment down by the motor on my 400 is adjusted so that all the threads are to the right of the bracket. is this how its supposed to be? and as my clutch wears out i'll have to adjust it so the threads go the the left of the bracket?
I get a lot of stuff from Rocky Mountain ATV. Free shipping over $99. Also Amazon has good prices. Just watch out when you get break pads ! I got a deal on eBay and thought I had a lifetime supply. They lasted about three hours !!
