Thanks for all the videos. I just recieved a 1980 puch maxi and have been watching your videos for information on restoring this bike to hopefully give it life again. Last registered in 1995.

I’m replacing my kreidler brake pads. I got these same 20 dollar pads from treats. Im curious about the steel guards on the old pads. They are opposite the half circle and they ride up against the pivoting paddle. They are there on the old pads but they are not there on the new pads. Do you think there is enough clearance on the new set up to remove the steel plates from the old pads and install them on the new pads? I’m not sure if I want to risk the plates coming loose if I do this but I’m also concerned that without these steel plates on the new pads, the pivoting paddle may dig into the new pads and make a dent that could end up creating a safety issue if it gets too deep. Thanks.
My old Honda Express had those style of brake shoes - with the V Spring. Unfortunately I haven't found a great method other than carefully / forcefully prying the spring out - and for reinstall holding the shoes like a taco and spreading them back out.
Just seen that the little brake adjuster bracket that spins on the back brake plate may have been round the wrong way when you re-installed it which is why your rear cable was too short and you needed to move the narp. Maybe it spins so you can gain an extra inch or so on the cable adjustment when running pads really low 😎 great vid though, get some more up! Hows the house too?? 👍🏻🏍
Are you sure you want play in those wheel bearings?! I’m a bike mechanic and I’ve never heard of that, generally speaking bearings shouldn’t be tight or grinding, but they shouldn’t have any play. If there is it will result in uneven wear, excess noise, etc... I’m happy to be proven wrong but I’d be careful with that.
