I can tell you from following a lot of Governor deer tag holders, that the vast majority take their bucks in the early season. There tends to be two windows to hunt big bucks, before they shed velvet (first 3 weeks in August) and go hard horn and the rut (two prime weeks in November). So out of a four month season you really have about 5 prime weeks. Virtually all of the governors tag bucks off the famous "Strip" in Arizona are taken early in the velvet. Deer patterns drastically chance once they go hard horn.. With that said, my wife had a premium tag in Western Oregon, and the buck we wanted was on an adjacent property and didn't enter the property that we could hunt on until the rut. The rut is also so much fun to hunt. If I was dialed in on that bigger buck in this video, I would try and get some better video of him. He is a heck of a buck for Oregon. I am going to go out on a limb but he looks better than my clean 183 typical (with only 24" spread with eye guards), and I am thinking could be pushing 190 or 200. You don't always need crazy spread to score well.
That buck was close to pushing 200”. Even with the Governors tag you don’t find many bucks over 200”. And that’s with every guide in the state looking for you.
Awesome update and great buck! I get that the hunt is young but he would have been hard to pass up! I would guesstimate that buck breaking the 190's gross! Thanks for sharing! Have fun out there!
definitely in that 200" range. Big props to you for being able to pass on a buck like that and see what else you can come up with. Plenty of time left! Excited to keep following along.
Letting a buck like that pass is essentially saying you're willing, push come to shove, to go home empty handed. If you know that going in, and don't doubt your decision, that's fine.
These special high dollar tags just proves that if you have enough money, you can always get trophy animals. Everyone else has to work hard to maybe get a chance at one !!
Whew, tough pass. Only thing I see is short beams that could keep him from being the 200-210 that he looks...that'll be a hard buck to beat. Best of luck, have fun!
WOW what a buck!!! Native OR here and you’ll be hard pressed to kill a mule deer bigger than that in this state. With the inlines and extras that buck was easily 190”! With that said, I hope you find a better one or you find this guy again in November 👍 Great video thanks for sharing! Subscribed
I think youre crazy for passing him up, especially for oregon buck. I hope you find something better or find him again in november! Before other hunters get him.

Enjoying the series, thanks for taking us along on the journey
Thanks for watching!
Don't know what he would score but he had at least 200 inches of bone and great mass

That's the plan!
I think he's 210-215 with all that mass. Go get em

Very true but I still have 14 weeks left

I spent $50 on 40 tickets and won but 41,850 tickets sold for this one tag. I am just your average everyday working guy
They also auction one tag off and if ya got over 80k to buy one you could have this hunt every week. But just got lucky
That bigger one is over 200” and that other one ain’t for from 180”🦌
@@CRR8980 i think your right
Wow! Nice ones!
Great Buck! I think I see a few extra kickers on his left side? Heavy mass. 201" with no kickers, 209" with kickers.
205 as broken. 210 after he is fixed
I don't know if I could have passed that back up. He had to be 180+

Had to be 200+
Hopefully you get him!
Thinking you might regret let him walk, that's a great Oregon Buck.
I am hoping I don’t but that is a possibility
193” Hard to let that walk.
Yes it was
206 6/8
@@PublicOffender that’s a good number
They always get smaller when they hit the ground, but he looks to have pretty even deep forks nice any day any where especially these days eh!

I got 2 weeks to find a bigger one before archery season but I think he is safe for a month yet
