All roles that papa doc was once affiliated and appealed to because these fields are at the heart of human life and having a career in any one of them one is looked upon with reverence. Many individuals in these fields often have many admirers and the darker charismatic personalities can easily exploit the vulnerability of others to gain a cult like following.

Not only he didn't believe in voodoo but the voodoo entities he claimed of are not the ones invoked in the voodoo religion but rather the negative forces one wards against with rituals, and only sorcerers, not voodooists, call upon to help to do mischief. Pretending to be Baron Samdi's elected is like pretending Halloween is an Anglican Holiday and posing as an Anglican preacher while having people killed by disguised paraders. Voodoo as religion mirrors old-fashioned Catholicism with its cult of saints.

5:24 Of Note is that Baron Samedi (aka Bawon Samedi) isn’t the Guardian of Graveyards, that would be the similar lwa, Baron Cimetière. Baron Samedi’s charge is death, the giving of life, and of rebirth. He is the lwa who greets and guides the dead to the underworld and leader of the Gede. Other than that (admittedly easy to make) mistake, your research team did a great job!
