Stoked to be back on the slopes, it's been like 15 years for this random dude. Snagged a deal on a Gateway Pop 👍
Welcome back.
Welcome back !
Consider doing some muscular prep and joint prep
Also it may sound weird but is actually useful : on flat snow intentionnaly catch an edge without speed just so you remember how it feels and how it happens.
Enjoy riding again !!!
Stay with it this time dude! Refound my love for boarding at 25-26, after 7-8 years of super passive boarding and really dialed in last year at around 28. Way better appreciation for it now than ever. Cheers
Congrats! I got back into it about 3 years ago after about 15 years away and I have to say there's nothing better. It's like riding a bike. After a few days on snow I was right back to the level I was 15 years ago, except the boards of today are WAY better.
For sure, definitely gonna have to get started ahead of the season. Appreciate all the welcomes here 🙏
Been on an Antigravity for 2 seasons based on Avran’s recommendation. AWESOME board for to progress on, and super affordable. Use the savings to have a shop structure the base for sure. Made a huge difference for season 2.
Thanks for your honest opinion. Going on ski/snowboard holiday for the first time in January. Gonna rent my board, but if all goes well I'm getting my own board for the year after.👌
Kudos on thr TC shout out! Gotta love office politics
God damnit I can't wait for winter. Might need to check out the Antigravity.
As someone who is probably a progressing intermediate, your comment on the Outerspace is dead on. Got a Mercury last season and felt slightly uncomfortable. But the OSL fits like a glove.
Awesome recommendations, Kool T-shirt 👍👍
RIP AFFLIATE. You served us well.
Great timing on this one. Sending this to some pals that are in the market.
thumbs up and a comment. keep the videos coming.
Picked up an 23/24 Antigravity 162w. First thing I did was have Milo grind/tune it. I think they thought it was weird that I brought in a brand new board for a tune, but those extruded Mervin bases are seriously ass. I suck at snowboarding and even I know this
Facts. Also smartest thing you can do with that deck.
Hopeful for this season, can’t wait to rip
Yes set the Standard.
Intermediate (higher?) rider here, thanks for the suggestions. Want at 2nd board along my dancehaul, something stiffer, handles the ice and crud/chunder well and also trying to get a little bit better in the park I was looking for the capita mercury because I saw it on sale. Looks like I should try something in that list instead.
Rossignol resurgence all day long.
Personal preference is a term that all reviewers need to use more. Back when I was intermediate I thought I needed a stiffer board , cuz I’m going faster now… 2000 days on snow later my boards can’t be soft enough. Especially at 130lbs, I need that soft flex to foot/ankle/knee steer. Charging with a soft board? - loosen up yo. But it’s my personal preference. Get out there and try different shit
Was the other all mountain freestyle top 5 video for more advanced boards? Or was it just a broad general list and this one is a little more niche?
Thanks for the recommendations - Would you spend $150 more to get the 24/25 outerspace living version, or save the money and go with last year's model?
Save the cash.
@@AngrySnowboarder appreciate the quick reply!
Another great video,
Do you have any suggestions of this same topic for like older model boards (like 2020-2023). Looking forward to the season.
There's literally this same video with last years, the year before that, and the year before that, oh and the year before that.
I am secretly hoping for an endeavor appolo review. I know i dont need this board i have way too many boards but...... i CAN NOT HELP IT !!!!!!
Wanting to go to a board in this category and love the Yes shaping. For the yes standard link, if clicked and buy last year's model on evo do you still get the affiliate commission? Could I please get a size rec for 200lbs, size 11.5 boot?
Yes. Probably want the 59.
Are you guys going to do a top 5 trees board this year? picked up a stranda shorty last season and was wondering what you would pair with this. Thanks
No
I'm not intermediate! YOU'RE INTERMEDIATE!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭
How would u say the new Warden compares to last years Freaker?
It's close to that but with a bit less snap out of the tail.
I was wondering how does the wired recon compare to the arc. Looking for reviews on them but not much out there for how new the arc is
They're two entirely different boards just based off the shaping alone.
Thank you Avran.
When you say that the Rome Warden would help intermediates get better, do you think it would help more than a mountain twin?
I know I have a skill issue getting comfortable engaging with the MT and apart from taking lessons this year, I was wondering if getting a "easier" board would help if it is indeed easier.
I don't think I'm a complete learner but I have trouble being really comfy on reds when they get steep. Something I didn't have before stopping for a while ..
Thanks a lot. My experience was quite humbling to say the least...
You need to go scare yourself. Suck it up buttercup.
Hi Avran
I’m considering the Ride Moderator as an all mountain rad dad board. Is the Moderator a big step up in terms of flex and catchiness to the Rome Warden?
Not exactly the same category, suspect the Shadowban is a closer comparison if it’s better to use as reference.
No it's a logical progression if you're aiming to go more all mountain freeride. It will be stiffer and more damp underfoot, but it won't overwhelm you if you have solid fundamentals.
@@AngrySnowboarder Thanks Avran, much appreciated
Continued validation for the friend I bullied into buying a warden to replace his 8 year old artifact.
What do you think about the 2024-25 Capita DOA? I was wondering if this year's model is any better than last year's. It looks like the kind of board I'm really interested to buy
There's better boards.
Hope you guys are gona do a top 5 party boards
Top 5 Rehab boards.
@@AngrySnowboarder top 5 rad dad bad back specials
Top 5 fat dad boards - basically all the Ride "pig" models

Curious how the new Yes All Out would do on this list. Seems to sit between the Standard and Standard Uninc with similar features of Standard but camber of Uninc minus any taper.
You see it on there? No? There's your answer.
@@AngrySnowboarder That comment was more made that you never reviewed the All Out on your Patreon and thought maybe the omission was due to lack of a chance to review and not that it was not good enough to make the list..
What do you think about Salomon craft?
Absolutely great board.
So is the pioneer just the upgraded version of the ranger?
Kind of. There's a lot of overlap in the Endeavor range.
Let’s go
Intermediate?? Does it mean that if your vid isn't explicitly labeled "intermediate" or "beginner" then it's meant for advanced riders?
Sure.
Love my Standard and can confirm it’s wide. It’s actually wider than my 159W Basic.
What's your weight? I had a Standard in the exact same size, it felt kinda small and squirrelly. Not like the board itself was small, but it rode like a 156. At the same time though, also weirdly fast and stable at speed lol.
@@sakesidestudios 180 pounds. No complaints here but also coming from a pretty stiff old camber board.
@@kc510 okay so fairly similar, I was 200 when I had mine. Coming from a Mercury 160w, the Standard felt significantly shorter. Might have to do with camber profile/effective edge. I still think about it though, wonder if maybe I need to give it another chance.
Cheers!
@sakesidestudios the Standard does have the Midbite tech in the board, and that may have made it seem smaller or more squirrely. I have the Typo (Underbite) and may get a Standard, but I will be demoing one for that reason. Just something to think about, happy shredding!
@@sakesidestudios I don’t think we could go wrong with either board! I was between the Standard and Merc when I picked mine up but I’d been out of the game for a few years and was afraid the Mercury would be a little too serious for me. Still on my future radar.
Cheers
Ah rossignol ! stop selling bindings, stop that "trickstick" board and you will be taken as seriously as what you deserve. (and bring back the real revenant).
And they need to fix the quality of the topsheets
@@ramonjoustra9912 yep like 70 % of brand makers. Worst i had were bataleon and salomon... The only topsheet that was indestructible was on a weird Head instinct dct that i bought few bucks as a "rocks" board for the end of season. Stiff as f*** but you could kill an entire fat skier family with this thing. Lol. The builder is "playmaker" from Taïwan i think.
