How refreshing it is to listen to Prof Chidi Odinkalu, he x-rayed the danger that lies ahead of us with respect to the crooked judgement from Umahia.

What a man. It is quite hopeful, to find out, that Nigeria still has intelligent bright minds like this Professor Chidi Odinkalu..

So refreshing listening to Prof. Chidi Odinkalu’s analysis of the case. The Nigerian Courts don’t work with such speed and execution, and as a trained attorney myself, I strongly believe the integrity of the decision is suspect.

Many of us were blindsided by who this judgement favored, not knowing the danger this judgement could mean when you are seeking for elective position and you do not have state resources to protect it. There is two sides to a coin. Always good to look at both sides.

Abati, why does Odikalu have the right to condemn the judgement of this court while Umahi doesn't have the right to condemn Ekwo? Arise TV! "Manifestly crooked" Abati didn't say Odikalu should be charged for contempt. Hmmmmm

Am very disappointed with Prof Chidi Odinkalu on dis...u can't b dis learned and criticize a judge dis way on national TV...how speedy a judgement is does not in anyway affect d integrity of a judgement. Dat judgement was need as quick as possible so rights of pple are not affected as regard d new electorial act so u can blame d court for acting swiftly; if d judgment had gone d way he wanted he won't have questioned d speed of d judgement. In fact we are looking for speedy judgement in dis country so why criticize a speedily dispensed judgement?

The political appointees have always resigned from office before contesting election. How come Prof. Chidi Odinkalu and his likes never tell them not to resign because they are not public servants? Meanwhile, it's only the office of the attorney general that have the local standi to appeal the judgment because the document has become document of the federal government of Nigeria. The plaintiff didn't sue the national assembly but the federal government of Nigeria.

Political appointees are not public officials. One of the cardinal rules in public office is non-partisanship. Everyone knows that political appointees are very partisan, especially in our climes. But back to the matter, let me ask a very simple question. How fair is it, if you and I are to run a race, and you are in charge of choosing the race umpires, the race venue, and are even the keeper of the prize? What happens, like we have seen severally in Nigeria, when against all odds I beat you and then your refuse to hand over the prize? Why should a political appointee use the machinery of the state and her resources to pursue a personal ambition? Now, if these appointees in question are as popular and "good" as they feel they are, let them resign and contest on neutral terms like everybody else. Or what are they afraid of?
