My favorite song! This song means SO SO MUCH to me!! I grew up in the occult. I was taught that God hated me & was my enemy & that I was to do whatever I could to destroy his image on earth. My family would infiltrate churches in order to rot them from the inside out. Life was Hell for me. But God was GREATER!! In the midst of all that hate, pain, & deception, the overwhelming love & grace of God somehow reached through all the chaos & the noise to pierce my rock hard heart & breathe LIFE into me! HALLELUJAH!

I really like the part where Apostle Paul talks about how "God saved (me) by his grace when (I) believed... It is a gift from God." Even though my Pastor has taught me this countless times, it's still encouraging to know that God still loves & accepts me just as I am, even though I'm still working my way through so many addictions & wrong thinking. Sometimes I get impatient with myself, thinking I should have everything figured out by now & be "all fixed," so it's super encouraging that God would use someone I don't even know to remind me that my salvation is not something I have to "earn" or "deserve," especially at those times I feel weakest & most powerless. I also like it where Paul talks about Jesus tearing down the divisions between different groups of people. I was always conditioned to believe that I could never be accepted by God because I was God's enemy. I was taught that i was put on this Earth to defeat God & to set things up so Satan could take over the world. God could NEVER, EVER want anything to do with me. In fact, he wanted me dead. So the idea that God could not only SAVE me, not only LOVE & ACCEPT me, but ALSO join me together with the rest of his Church as his CHILD never ceases to AMAZE me. I used to love the song reckless love until I realized God’s love isn’t reckless. We should think about the theological aspect of music we sing and make sure it aligns up with scripture. ❤️ when we sing this in church I usually replace the word “reckless” to “amazing” or “beautiful”
