The craziest thing too me about this, is a game like this which i wager would have at least an 80% chance of being a success based on what were seeing here get scraped months away from an intial release, but concord gets released with 8mill in funding only to get the servers pulled and canceled in less than 2 weeks from launch. Hm, I wonder, even if ya got the IP, the shareholders own anything from the game that would prevent them from working on it? Though even though if they do, not sure if it's a good idea to showcase this on twitter. Yeah sure it forces responsibility, but the public will have their own idea's of what the game was going to be like which I'm sure is not what the dev's wanted for their game. Reminds me of how we also lost EverQuest Next and Landmark. These games had so much potential.
these snapshots and work examples just ooze passion. im reading a lot of "its sad this art is gonna go no where"... but it doesnt feel like that to me. it didnt become what the artist thought it would be, but i busted out my drawing pad after like 5 years of not touching it after seeing this. just because it doesnt end where u think it does, doesnt mean ur art doesnt have value. u never know who ur gonna touch.
Financial incentive was proven 'mostly' irrelevant by Concord (and others of course). Even with the opposite of financial incentive made abundantly clear, the juggernaut of executive ignorance can be difficult to sway.
That's such a cool and unique art direction, we need more of that!!
If anything, other devs or studios could possibly take inspiration from these leaks. Ngl the creatures and characters look amazing. Still sucks this got canceled…
Spiral Knights mentioned, i am more then happy to be reminded of my child hood
"There were dragons" is the only thing i can think of seeing this being cancelled
No. Don't bring that up!
This is the depth of character that a lot games need! This is so intriguing. kinda hope they do decide to revisit this and maybe release it someday.
The idea of having this brought by good people and released and then that y'all were left on read is devistating. This is so far up my alley!! Like an evolution of cube world kinda vibes I would love to play this game!
Awesome way to encourage the media angle of supporting this game. Making it positive, essentially giving starting numbers for an unannounced and unreleased game, instead of threatening pointless actions, is a testament to your morales, Thor, if I may be so bold as to use your name. We need this kind of positive influence.
F, and I would take this over Dauntless anytime
Yeah... so much potential. It's great that they can show their work.
That’s fucking disappointing! I would’ve bought and played it
I'm looking at all this concept art, and realizing I want this - in it's intended voxels - as an animated show.
They need to bring back this to life. It looks damn good. 💯
Someone needs to collect the Dragon Balls ASAP!
Strikes me as very Ghibli-esque with the incredibly beautiful nature shots and wonderfully charming little creatures
It would be legit awesome if Pirate Software bought Project Dragon. Please keep us updated.
I hope they keep trying. I’d support the crowdfund to launch in a heartbeat
SPIRAL KNIGHTS HAVE BEEN MENTIONED LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOO!!!!!!
The craziest thing too me about this, is a game like this which i wager would have at least an 80% chance of being a success based on what were seeing here get scraped months away from an intial release, but concord gets released with 8mill in funding only to get the servers pulled and canceled in less than 2 weeks from launch. This is why the video games industry will fail i swear. Not saying this would be close in gameplay, but the style reminds me of viva pinata alot but with a more earthy spiritual undertone rather than a cutesy fluffy look, and i feel like we haven't got a stop and smell the flowers game like that in a while, what a shame.
Internet for real said, "Let them cook." Lol I wish we did get to see it though.
There is a petition. already 7.7k+ Signatures! let's go!
I love this artstyle and I have been wanting a Voxel game to re explore like minecraft and this looks super fun.
Forte: "You're sold? It's cancelled."
Internet: "Why are you like this?"
Forte? I thought this dudes name was Thor
@@nowonmetube I used the name of the company that owns the IP instead (9:14).
By allowing the devs to post all these assets/clips after they killed it,
that may as well be their response to anyone that says they're interested in it.
"Oh, you wanna buy a copy? It's cancelled." - "Oh, you wanna buy the entire IP? It's cancelled."
Damn I recognized the person right away, I follow him on twitter. Luckily he has found a new job at Studio MDHR the makers of Cuphead.
This reminds me a lot of Sky Saga. It even has the same block jiggle placement animation.
Sky Saga was also another stellar game that went into beta and then was canceled. Fully playable with functioning multiplayer.
all of the art and character designs rule so hard, really hope this gets picked back up
Man...look at that art. So nice.
Looks like a much better looking TROVE, would actually try it.
It's so sad that I only find out about the game from all of the amazing artists sharing their work that will never come to be. Honestly the best game art I've seen.
I'm "pressing F" by repeatedly slamming my head into my keyboard in frustration that this got cancelled. This game looks like it would have been so dope.
100% kickstart it, i would LOVE this, ive seen sneak peaks from very early stage, and i mean just some artwork not even 3d. someone had posted about it on twitter at a very early stage. and i was waiting on this
very similar to what happened to the game Sky Saga, the game was months away from release but the company was acquired by a Chinese mega corporation and was shut down, such a waste
I would play this game day and night if they finished this. The amount of unique environments, NPCs, and characters makes me want to explore so much
My heart broke while watching this video :( the art style is gorgeous and it looks like the team really poured so much soul into it. It really hammers home the importance of doing a better job choosing your employer. You must interview them as much as they interview you. A rug pull like this probably could have been spotted early.
Damn. I never heard of this before but now I’m sad I don’t get to explore the world. It’s beautiful, and I adore the creature designs.
That’s a game worth saving!!
This looks better than Lego Fortnite! #BringBackProjectDragon!
0:53 Bezos be showing up everywhere
Watching his current stream live and after seeing that Bezos here、 I look up to see what Thor is talking about just to witness Bezos timely showing up on stream
I'm so sad I might never get to experience this. So beautifully made. Its just right up my ally
Project bad dragon
Stop
How dare you😭😭
In a world, where every game looks more or less the same, we need this. This is so pretty and interesting I would so love to play this game
I hate capitalism so much. The very idea that artists poured their hearts and souls into this and then the game was potentially cancelled all the while for a tax write off shows how unbelievably bad the current industry is for this art medium.
YOOO, Spiral Knights AND Goggles mentioned? Goggle2 nation rise up!
But honestly, this is nothing new in the game's industry, it's just one of the few that came to the public eye.
It's reminding me quite a bit of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, in terms of artstyle
This looks so good, i would jump at the chance to pick this up in a heartbeat
"Context". Never gets old no matter who uses it xD
Wow, that is really nice looking. I hope someone does something with it, or similar to it, even if it wasn't the full scope of what was planned.
Positive Pressure here.... I WANT TO BUY THIS GAME. Local Vancouver Game Dev here as well. Many friends lost their jobs over this decision.
Looks like it would've had a similar art style to the cancelled Sky Saga which was also a really cool voxel game.
The released info is the best job recommendation/reference letter for the devs I've ever seen.
