So true Jason. I need help to be better. I own a Rumors trumpet and can't seem to play it in tune but others can. I don't have any problems with the Muse. How can I fix make that work?

Once you said the person was a surgeon, this explained the problems you had with him.

The trumpet brands and players, at least some very well known, are the problem too, not only the trumpet players. We all know what’s going on, nowadays there’re too many sellers and little (no real) knowledge applied and shared in the community. That’s why the real issues keep coming and never resolved.

This was a fascinating video from me. The concept of impedance matching, would I have called resistance, is something that I have been asking questions about for years! I hope that in the near future, I can come visit your shop and broaden my concept.

I have an older Bravura model that I played with a Bach 3C supplemented with a Schilke for higher range. I worked with Christine to find a better match for the horn and mouthpiece and settled on a Spectratone Red. Being able to adjust the rim and cup to a 'familiar' feel but much better intonation was key. I may experiment with some variations as I become more comfortable, but have already made a ton of improvement in range without loss of intonation. You guys have a great approach.

Agree or disagree, I appreciate our modern boutique trumpet builders who have a philosophy. I really think guys like Jason and Dave Monette and Adam Rapa truly believe in their systems and their equipment. They want to make a living but their primary goal is to make a great product. I have no issue with debating their products on their merits. But don’t doubt their honesty. Jason is out there trying to make the best trumpet ever made. And that’s what it’s all about.
