I bought the cassette EP of this, in Canada in early 1987 (I'm from Ohio, US). I didn't know Billy or his music, but the title was interesting -and 2 Canadian dollars. I became a fan! I his his new "Forty" double CD collect, often played in my car -wonderful! Good to see performances kept from TV, years back. Paul Shaffer does a fine part of keys/synth.
I like that he makes the effort to minimize his cockney accent so you can better hear and understand the lyrics. On the record, I keep hearing him say “korea”
A lot of Brits, or English people at least, would pronounce the words 'career' and 'Korea' the same, which would be the case in Billy's East London/Essex accent...
Exception version of a great song. Love Billy's guitar and Paul's synth sounds like a string section. But I am confused: Talking with the Taxman About Poetry came out in 1986 (I know, because I saw Billy with just his guitar and amp in LA in 1987.) But this footage indicates "new album" after he had already been on Letterman promoting Worker's Playtime which came out in 1988. What gives?
One of his best songs, I love this live version
Pure magic
i love this song to death and never knew he performed it on national TV. thank you. thank you for giving me a chance to watch this.
Same here !! :)
Quanto ho amato questa canzone e la chitarra di Johnni Marr. Non avevo i capelli bianchi e miei occhi brillavano.
