as many of the commenters say, you should have some expert come and help, Good for you not to be unwilling to try. And You DO understand about up cuts etc. Some folks suggesting wedges, ...I don't think are correct. I use wedges for felling but in this case, that tree doesn't need that. It is a pretty big tree, big enough to hurt you. Get a person with plenty of experience to guide you in cutting the tree. Cutting from the middle is a bad idea, especially with a tree so high off the ground. Everyone has gotten a bar stuck. No fun. But you need so get that trunk down on the ground, so it doesn't have such tension on the cuts. DON'T jump on that tree!!!! If it broke, with you on it, it could crush you. don't cut in the same cut when you have that little experience, cut a wedge out. In your case, just nibble some wedges out, that will release the tree to fall and break. and do NOT stick your fingers in that crack!!!! it could close up and pinch You and keep YOU stuck in that tree. Also don't do this stuff all alone. and keep your phone in your pocket so you can call in an emergency, (if you have cell service) so much more to say. Get some help! after you drop a hundred trees, you will know what to do.
Respect for trying! My wife and I just watch the entire video. I have been cutting firewood and felling trees in NW Michigan for 20 years. I seek out the biggest Oak, Maple, Beech trees I can find. Some as big 72" across and well over 100" tall. I always carry several wedges on my belt and large hatchet to drive wedge in the top of the log that I am bucking. This is common practice for any novice or professional cutter/feller. Walking/crawling under a half bucked log of any size IS JUST NOT GOOD. You could have been severely hurt or killed. Please take some time look at other professional cutters/fellers on TH-cam.
Absolutely the best video of how the hell NOT to do something !!! Woman you haven't got a clue what the hell you are doing !! Take some time to watch some videos on you tube of chain sawing or leave the damn thing alone or you are going to get hurt !! Watch Out doors with the morgans, bucking Billy ray how to cut logs!!! That first cut , cut some from the top one cut then cut from the bottom up and BINGO the tree is cut !!! wow !!!
My first piece of advise . Slow down , you have nothing to prove , your not in a hurry . 2 keep that upper arm engaged and firm to control kickback . 3 please stop smacking that chain brake so hard , if you miss you hand may whack the chain. just grab it firmly and push it forward . Best wishes
You need to carry some small wedges with you to keep the gap open when cutting logs that way you will get saw out and log pole help you get the logs rolled easily my friend
I would hire someone to come for a couple of hours who is a TREE PRO and help you understand how to properly cut wood under tension and compression. This is a DANGEROUS game you are playing here. Imagine giving a 10 year old a machine gun and saying OK this is how you load it good luck... Tree pros die. Guys that cut for a living make mistakes and die. A rookie with a power saw that is pretty much clueless is a HUGE risk. IM not trying to be rude but there are MANY MANY guys at my work who own 2 3 saws and use them off and on for YEARS and have NO idea how to cut down a tree properly. I talk to them about what face they use and they say whats a face. I say what kind of notch do you like to use? I have no idea i cut and it falls. Point is 8 out of 10 men have NO idea how to run a power saw. IM NO PRO but I have a BIG ash tree i cut down last weekend and Im going to make a video with my 3 stihl pro saws and how they are different. I do tree jobs on the weekends have for most of my life. From when I was a kid i was always around wood cutting. Trees are insanely dangerous as are saws. Making mistakes can be DEATH. Just a couple of weeks ago up here in NH a man got crushed in a bucket truck with a tree. Im pretty sure hes going to loose his legs and might not live. Hes in Critical. Hes a TREE GUY. Hes in a bucket TRUCK. Shit happens to the best of us even when we Think we know what we are doing. One of my ALL TIME favorite youtube tree guys lost his life last year. He had 2 stroke for blood and sawdust in his pillowcases. This man ran tree crews he took professional classes regularly to learn and learn. His name was Jeb Walters. He was an inspiration to ME and many MANY others in the saw community. When Jeb talked Everyone was paying attention because he was a true pro. He Lived cutting wood. I miss him for sure.

take some time and learn compression and tention of the tree so you don't bind the bar

P.S stop putting you face over the chain when cutting. If it kicks back what will it hit ?
