    Great explanation on how to find sub cool and super heat the old school way. Always great to get back to that. I don’t have digital gauges yet but I will someday!
    If you want a “pro” tip to remember the formula you can write something like L-G=SH on the back of your low side gauge and G-L=SC on your high side gauge.

    I feel your pain. I had one where the meters were placed on the wrong apartment. When the tenant moved out it shut the power off to an occupied apartment. So, each resident was paying for the others residents' electric bill. Yeah, new construction really screwed up. Could have been sabotage, new construction is like that. It was a mess.

    That disconnect change over means that one tennant was using the power from the other tennant.

    Hello Lex. I'm ol school for sure, close to 70. If it's Beer can cold I'm good . I do replace hoses when needed. I have some nice tools, just interested in the Veto back pack as I need both hands for the ladder.

    main service panel where power comes in from the city and steps it down to 120-240v branches of wires coming from their go to switches, recepticals, equipment. the breakers you find in apartment units are like sub panels you use to fit in extra breakers and for convenience. there isnt a main switch on these sub panels that cut off power to all the circuit breakers. First you find your 2 pole breaker for the ac condenser usually its the one rated for highest amps in your sub panel and has a red/black wire going into 2 stacked regular breakers giving 120v each wire. the wires after that breaker find its way to a disconnect outside located near the condenser usually far from the apartment. it simply uses fuses or resettable type breakers to cut off 240v going to the condenser contactor/blower/compressor. i suggest turning off the thermostat as well when your working on the condenser outside to prevent issues like unneeded strain on components. after turning off the disconnect use volt meter leads to push down on both sides of the contactor in the condenser and see if theres voltage present also if anything kicks on. honestly Im not sure why it would matter if he just swapped the disconnect covers unless the a/c's were different sizes for different tiered units. then again no harm no foul if you want to be perfectionist do what lex did instead.

    It's a real shame that contractors get paid so well to do such a crappy job like they did with this electrical. What a mess! I think it's great that you are straightening out their mess as you find them. Enjoyed the video!

    Good call switching the whips… seems logical since the tenant’s pay for their own energy and they are paying for someone else’s usage of air conditioning.
    Makes sense that if you use your own AC you should be paying for it.

    What causes a coil to leak? Is the common wire a ground or travel wire? Thank you for the video!

    • @LexVance
      @LexVance  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      High pressure blows a hole in a bad solder from the factory. Common wire is the electricity traveling back to breaker to complete the circuit. Thank you so much for watching!

    Essentially the electricians ran the electric to the wrong apartments disconnect box. Essentially the neighbors paying for their electricity from the condenser. Hopefully electric is included because most people would get mad.

    • @natepeterson7145
      @natepeterson7145 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Better to fix it because no one wants to get woken up in the morning so you can flip the breaker on the neighbors a/c. Good call
