This was easily the best RoundTable Episode you guys have done! Informative, funny, plus the fact you all respected each others Opinions was truly great to hear. Thank you and keep up the good work :) PS Find a way to get Dan and Sinvicta back on more often, they added so much to the show
Thanks for 50 episodes, i may have not been there from episode 1 but i really enjoy watching this podcast week after week. Really looking forward to at least another 50 episodes. Keep it up guys :)
Is anyone else surprised at how well Dad memesling promoted everyone speaking from different points of view and how he kept the conversation topics alive and got everyone to listen to one another's points of view?
Great guests as always, it's refreshing to see Dan's inquisitiveness being used to ask great questions to the others. Hope that him and Sin come back in the future!
I'm surprised you had 6 people in the podcast that all were able to talk frequently without talking over each other or leaving anyone out. Definitely one of my favorites so far; both of your special guests meshed well
I know you guys couldn't have Sinvicta & Dan Gheesling on every episode but having them on the show really added a lot more flavor and differentiating opinions. My favorite episode yet
Can nobody be fired and Dan appear permanently or semi-regularly on the show? I thought he was great on the podcast, in terms of both entertainment and discussion, and obviously he has some chemistry with our regular cast.
NL Baer Mathas Nick Cobalt Josh Sinvicta Malf Kate Austin Rob Thats all i can think of because i dont have an egghead. EDIT: i added other comments, also, thats ALOT of people to have in a podcast, lol.
For a guy with such a goofy/meme-lord reputation, Dan had some really good comments and questions that really suited the podcast. Sinvicta was great too, I'd love to see them on more
I know of many small businesses around here that are using their establishment being a Pokestop to their advantage. Most state something like every day at [insert time] they will have a lure party, and from what I've heard it's made a lot of money. A local Soda Shoppe for example has made a killing because they have lure parties at the same time as "Happy Hour" and they've sold massive amounts of drinks during those parties.
I see where nick is coming from, but right now there is no alternative to Pokemon Go for getting people to go outside. Yes, it's bad that whenever people are outside they are on there phones, but most of the people playing Pokemon Go would normally just be inside anyways.
I mean there is Ingress, made by the same developers, which is /mostly/ the same premise, but Pokemon Go definitely has the wide appeal of a prior fanbase.
"There is no alternative for getting people to go outside". Nick point is, why do we have to have something to force us to go outside? Go outside for its own sake. I don't completely agree with Nick's argument with Pokemon Go, but I think his sentiment that you shouldn't need something to force you to go outside is valid.
He was just being argumentative for the sake of it, that's Nick. His real reason for being against it is because he wasn't able to play it in his area so he has no interest, but that isn't controversial enough for him. "People shouldn't need an app to go outside" isn't even a real argument. Who cares how it's done, it's happening and wouldn't be happening without it, that is what matters.
I'm not saying pokemon go is bad, but I hope it's not the evolution of pokemon. People think pokemon has been dead with out really looking at the fact that it's a genuinely deep rpg with an esport attached. Go is just a catching pokemon mini game
Pokemon? Deep? That's a bit of a stretch. There are few deep JRPG's out there to begin with (ff tactics, tactics ogre, vagrant story, last remnant etc.). Pokemon is very casual in comparison. It's a glorified collect-a-thon/rock paper scissors game.
I personally didn't even have a smart phone until 2 days ago. I wasn't interested in pokemon go and haven't been interested in pokemon since I think Emerald? Maybe. I tried it for 45 mins on my friends phone and went out next day and upgraded my phone just to play Go. It is indeed not a great game, but has some addictive nature to it. It also gives you a small sense of adventure as you leave your house to go hunt and it's like baer said it is cool to just be able to easily talk to other people playing about a common topic. The game needs work for sure. It crashes alot, has a simple point, and mechanics are simple because it is just a phone game. The real story about it is how many people are into it. If they don't improve on the game quickly enough and fix tech problems I don't see them retaining to much of the crowd of interested persons. You of course are going to lose people from normal boredom of the game because it is a "repetitive" type game and slows down without dedication requiring you to spend money to keep up if you choose not to invest the time walking around stops. But even if it loses half the current crowd in a couple months and retains the other half for a year then half of that for a couple more, this game looks like it could and probably will survive with additional content for 3+ years like baer said. Plus it does get people off their ass so nothing wrong with that at the very least. They may still just be looking at their phones, but at least they are walking and talking to other people again. That is the real phenomenon people are so interested in, because for to long now we just walk past each other in the world like ghosts in our routine lives. The world itself has become dull and uninteresting to most people to the point they just live in it long enough to make enough money to escape it for as long as they can, anyway they can. This at least could be the start to bring people back into the real world, doing real things with other people in person. Sure the game leaves much to be desired from hardcore gamers with high standards of gameplay and haters will hate things that are popular to try and be "edgy", but for a mobile game it is better than other games I seen people playing like angry birds which inspired no one to do anything ever. I don't see any other games getting people to walk around and talk to other people in real life so I think that is a step in the right direction.
+Reishin would you like to see what people in the meta game have to do. Do you have about an hour so I can explain what iv breeding is. just because the campaign is casual doesn't mean there isn't surprising depth underneath.
Dan has some surprisingly "non bullshit" stuff to say on the podcast. I like what he has to say about analytics and discussion that isn't shitposting. I like the two "guests" on the show quiet a lot. Its tame conversation (mostly) and bring more perspectives. I hope they stay around!
I own every Nintendo console from the original NES to the WiiU. I still want to buy the little NES emulator thing. It looks cute, fun, comes with a lot of games that are hard to find or expensive. And I think, for me at least, it'll be another piece to add to the collection.
At a cafe in my city, there were discounts for people on their purchase depending on what their level was, all you had to do was show them your app and username
I'm not much of a nintendo fan but I love a challenge so I want to try the really hard games on the list and I would love to get into the popular nintendo games like Zelda so for such a good price I will almost certainly be getting it.
Dan, there is EVE Online, its exactly how you described a MMO that you would want. Its not a very big game, but there is typically around 20K people on at all times.
Its really good, the problem is, like most no theme park MMO's, is that you have to spend a lot of time in game to get anything done really. They have added some really cool things as of late, and made older features a lot more enjoyable. But its still a huge time sink.
The Mini NES has the 30 games for 60 dollars, which is a better value than buying 30 games on the E Shop, which would cost 150 dollars. It's not really for people who already have these games on the Wii U Virtual Console, it's for people like me who haven't been able to buy these games because they've been paying more attention to the full release titles.
The levels of beard are the best in this Nick-clean shaven Dan- 5 o'clock shadow Ryan-3 days of growth Baer-guy who should have shaved weeks ago Sinvicta-fuckin styled to Hell Mathas-castaway
The next Pokemon main series game needs to be Pokemon Go with battling and trading, and everything in normal Pokemon games, but you are the trainer meeting other trainers in real life, its the natural evolution, and we are ready. My only problem is that it needs a pretty much brand new device, and the GPS needs a bit of finesse.
As a teacher, I would argue that we don't practice doing boring things well. That's not a skill that you can practice--there's no muscle-memory in that. As we grow older, we cope with the boring because of some goal: money, promotion, a larger goal, etc. You cannot convince young people to complete their homework because it prepares them for the future. For them, the future is today after school. That's it. Forever, school could be boring and your parents convinced you of its value. Now, kids just don't have the patience or attention for it. Gamification can add motivation to a mandatory demand. I mean, they don't have a choice, so we can try to make it fun, right? Unless you work-out with friends or love watching yourself in a mirror, going to the gym sucks. I guess this is the motivation that some folks need. Hey, it's the summer, guys. I really didn't want to start thinking like a teacher, yet. Let's keep it light, okay?
Isn't it ironic how I have been watching Roundtable for a while now and I play Afterbirth and I have been trying to unlock the lost which in Afterbirth in case you didn't know you have to try to get the missing poster trinket which sounds easy just get mom's box and be Cain boom done but for some reason I would be Cain get the box and I get the poster on the one floor that doesn't have a self sacrifice room. Now back to how this is ironic I have been trying to get the lost for 4 weeks and every week I would look for Roundtable and open up Isaac and play then I play NL video's and old races with Josh and Nick and when I ran out of video's went to Baer, Dan, Mathas, and Sinvicta. 50th episode is already hype as it is but for me unlocking the lost after 4 weeks of trying just I'm over the moon right now but I have you all to thank for giving me the encouragement with your vidoes. Now I'm going to play the lost and try to unlock all his things have a good one guys and keep doing what your doing because its good and helps so many people
Thanks for the Pokemon GO segment lasting so long, Nick's weird facial expression of "I don't want to be a sourpuss about something everyone likes even though I clearly have distaste for it." was really amusing, it was the most negative I've seen a facial expression go to before being a full own scowl. At least NL was just poker facing it, he don't care.
"I don't think its a fantastic thing that people are outside looking at their phones." It's not fantastic but it's not entirely negative if people are interacting with each other. Also, "Go outside for the sake of being outside." And get bit to hell by mosquitoes with nothing to show for it? Goddamn dude.
Man, I really wish I could figure out why Nick and Ryan are so down on PoGo. I think it boils down to how they were the only two that were already going outside and regularly exercising beforehand. For people who start playing the game and don't do that already then it's actually really exciting and actually feels really good to start being more healthy and social. It almost feels like they already have a system in place for them to be motivated to exercise and kind of want people to adopt their standard/system rather than play a game to get the same results, it's almost like cheating that now everybody else gets to exercise and socialize without the discipline. Not to mention that salt that they can't even play it.
"if you have an isaac run that's going over an hour you have the worst items," You can tell Matthas has NEVER broken Isaac in his life because those take anywhere from 1 and a half to 4 hours (I've even spent 6 hours getting exactly what I wanted just for the hell of it in an Isaac run.) That's kind of a super narrow minded assumption tbh.
Pokemon Go for me is like like this; Pokemon go is a nearly inescapably bright Sun with one group of people flying directly into it with smiles on their faces and another hiding away in dark caves grumbling "millennial idiots" or "get a life", things like that. I'm sort of stuck in the middle, walking around trying to ignore the cave trolls and wishing i had a good pair of sunglasses.
I agree with Ryan. The game is actually really bad. Yeah the social aspect is cool, but that's present because of the following Pokemon has, not because the game is any good.
But it is also toxic to resist quality criticism that intends to make sure people realize the possibilities (including socializing for its own sake, or that Nintendo may be using the format to milk nostalgia). And I would argue, even more toxic. Don't shit on the skeptical, as they are the ones who would stand up even in minority.
Really it comes down to the way things are phrased. "This game is feature-barren and needs more depth to have legitimate staying power rather than relying on nostalgia," is valid criticism. "This game sucks, I don't get why people play it," is toxic and reductive.
+StNowhere I found Nick opinion to be so judgemental and hypocritical.its like saying people shouldn't play sports as an excuse to go outside or why get a girlfriend when you can watch porn or pay a hooker.
I wonder how many that are now playing pokemon GO is actively seeking out other pokemon games such as Black/White or even the older remastering... or if its just another "oh this is popular" that lasts 1 - 2 months and dies. Because ive played most of the nintendo handheld ones and i aint even remotely interested in pokemon GO.
Podcast gets a lot better if you look at Sinvicta and just imagine he's starring down Ryan
10 / 10 would watch a microwaved glow stick again.
I would love to see you on again!
Hey Dan, what's the name of your third grade teacher?
That's Rob, you dingus.
I love you, man.
Mrs. Guinn
Ryan and Dan are such bros together.
Best 50th Episode ever!
Hey dude, is that a body pillow I see back there? ;)
Nick's face during Pokemon GO discussion perfectly mimicks my own.
Dan lives in a Japanese dojo.
I was about to say, after Big Brother, did he become a FUCKING Shogun?
Or a porn set
He actually recorded it in his old fight club with the old man!
+computermonster1 Kairo Sejuro is my neighbor
make sure Kairo's always equipped with a katana, I've heard that he gets pretty dangerous without it.
This was easily the best RoundTable Episode you guys have done! Informative, funny, plus the fact you all respected each others Opinions was truly great to hear. Thank you and keep up the good work :) PS Find a way to get Dan and Sinvicta back on more often, they added so much to the show
22:51. Enjoy the ride.
Thank you. Was listening to the audio version, but I needed to see Dan's face.
Thanks for 50 episodes, i may have not been there from episode 1 but i really enjoy watching this podcast week after week. Really looking forward to at least another 50 episodes. Keep it up guys :)
DAN THE GOD FUCKING LOVE THAT GUY
Is anyone else surprised at how well Dad memesling promoted everyone speaking from different points of view and how he kept the conversation topics alive and got everyone to listen to one another's points of view?
Great guests as always, it's refreshing to see Dan's inquisitiveness being used to ask great questions to the others. Hope that him and Sin come back in the future!
Dan should definitely be a permanent member to the podcast. Sinvicta was great also.
Am I the only one who really enjoys Sinvicta
Probably lol.
Nope
You are not alone
I doubt it. He's got his own channel and shit. Means more people does.
I like him, but I think it would have been cooler to have Austin.
New segment in addition to Nicks Weird Games: DanGheesling reacts to youtube vine.
This has easily become my favorite talkshow.
I'd love it if Dan was on all the roundtables
One of the best episodes yet IMO. I love when they get off topic because they really have a lot to say about something (like they did with Pokemon Go)
The only gaming podcast better than the Co-Optional. I look forward to every episode. Thanks nerds
Dan and Sinvicta should be regulars
Agreed. They add a lot to the conversations - they often have differing opinions from the rest of the group and bring up interesting points
More Dan please! He makes anything eggsquad related much better.
I like the random flirting Dan & Egg do while everyone else is talking.
Can nobody be fired and Dan appear permanently or semi-regularly on the show? I thought he was great on the podcast, in terms of both entertainment and discussion, and obviously he has some chemistry with our regular cast.
Episode 100 should be just all NLSS people ever
NL
Baer
Mathas
Nick
Cobalt
Josh
Sinvicta
Malf
Kate
Austin
Rob
Thats all i can think of because i dont have an egghead.
EDIT: i added other comments, also, thats ALOT of people to have in a podcast, lol.
jason donghead
Dan, rumblemuffin, tb maybe?
I dont hink Tb would, but i feel stupid for forgetting dan, even though he was in this video. lol
+jason donghead malf, rob, kate
+KJRichards oh shit I forgot about them with NL. they still do Isaac vs. videos
Chex Quest getting a remake is one of my favorite news stories from this year. Lots of good memories with that weird weird game.
Pokemon Go is to Nek what Undertale is to NL. Also Dan and Ryab are the best when they do random shit together.
I feel like Satoru Iwata would have been super happy about Pokemon Go
Can we have a video of Dan reacting to things in the corner of every Roundtable episode?
For a guy with such a goofy/meme-lord reputation, Dan had some really good comments and questions that really suited the podcast. Sinvicta was great too, I'd love to see them on more
Wow, how did you get the real Dan fucking Gheesling on the show.
They've been friends for a very long time, he's been on a lot of the NLSS's and tournaments of shame, and some multiplayer series too
whoosh
Aeryazz explain this meme please?
*****
It means the joke went over your head.
There are a ton of NLSS that have Dan, and they collab stuff together time to time.
MY GOD THIS IS THE BEST EPISODE OF THE SHOW BY FAR
I really love Dan and Sinvicta by the way
Yes! Guardian Legend is amazing! I agree that it should have been included in the mini nes emu pack.
My condolences on 50 episodes, bois, I am really sorry it had to come this far.
Time to make the roundtable a permanent true round table
sinvicta's camera angle is kinda odd, not a complaint but why is it like that?
Well done guys, past and presents guests including. Dan was a beast btw.
I know of many small businesses around here that are using their establishment being a Pokestop to their advantage. That NBA JAM: ON FIRE game is fantastic
Damn, you guys went to Weber State University?? That's where I go. Sophomore!
Shatterhand for the NES is a highly underrated game. Its a bit on the easy side but its a really solid action platformer with amazing music.
wow, 50 episodes. you guys have been doing this for around a year already.
Dan I had the Tengen Tetris cart too!
SQUAD I KNEW IT WAS REAL
oh shit that's worth some money

We never really did get to find out if Dan was wearing one of TB's shirts.
it's funny to hear the pokemon go bit one year later xD
Do you think you could ever get cobalt on the podcast Baer?
Dan has some surprisingly "non bullshit" stuff to say on the podcast. I like what he has to say about analytics and discussion that isn't shitposting. I like the two "guests" on the show quiet a lot. Its tame conversation (mostly) and bring more perspectives.
I hope they stay around!

Rygar was so good! I also wish Little Samson was on there. That's my favorite NES game and the cartridge is rare and super expensive.
A local restaurant near me is giving a free large drink with food purchases if you have the pokemon of the day.
Have I missed something? No-one else uploaded this episode ...
This podcast has made me really respect Nick as a person
At a cafe in my city, there were discounts for people on their purchase depending on what their level was, all you had to do was show them your app and username
I'm not much of a nintendo fan but I love a challenge so I want to try the really hard games on the list and I would love to get into the popular nintendo games like Zelda so for such a good price I will almost certainly be getting it.
So before the spoiler part I went and watched a LP of Inside, and ... wow. go play it blind.
Is that the only shirt Mathas owns?
Hopefully he doesn't microwave a glowstick while he's wearing it
+Nicholas Ellingson It's all over your awesome shirt!
Man, For the first section it sure is great to be 14 and have nearly no clue about half of the games their talking about.
I swear dan transforms into sylvester stalone when the hood goes on

Dan, there is EVE Online, its exactly how you described a MMO that you would want. Its not a very big game, but there is typically around 20K people on at all times.

So Sinvicta essentially wants From Software to start making Armored Core again.
I also want From Software to do AC games again.
i image sinvicta is like 2 face or has some sweet wicked burns that he doesn't want us to see now.

I love baer but Dan just really felt like the host this time around lol, guy just took over and ran with it somewhere in the middle.
Nek, please...
and for the record pepsi-man was straight up awesome
Dan's so inquisitive
People keep complimenting Nintendo, but they had nothing to do with the development of the app, they just own part of the pokemon ip.

Nick is so right about pokemon go
Pokemon Go for me is like like this; Pokemon go is a nearly inescapably bright Sun with one group of people flying directly into it with smiles on their faces and another hiding away in dark caves grumbling "millennial idiots" or "get a life", things like that.

StNowhere And the confusion between those two is also toxic and misrepresentation.
+StNowhere I found Nick opinion to be so judgemental and hypocritical.its like saying people shouldn't play sports as an excuse to go outside or why get a girlfriend when you can watch porn or pay a hooker.
Sheldon George I think that is a bit of a straw man. That isn't like saying the same as using Pokemon GO as an excuse to go outside and to socialize.
Now if only Ryan could sing.
It's better that he can't, and knows he can't, but gives no fucks
Nick Thomas
Doesn't help my ears :(
Nick can sing and never does, I wanna hear Nick dammit.
dan and sinvicta should stay in the roundtable
Holy crap Dan knew way more about Nintendo than even Nick and Nick's pick were mostly garbo
When someone else is talking and he is deep and thought Nick always looks like he is smelling a nasty fart.
