Mandelbrot, when he visited where I worked, had an office in the same hallway as me. I was in machine learning (ML). Mandelbrot pooh-poohed ML as useless, especially in financial markets. He said fractals would solve all those problems. If you know what's behind today's AI headlines, you know ML won. Fractals makes pretty pictures if you want some art.
