Yes I find this job very relaxing for some reason. The fluid tester is fantastic. I check mine every winter now, any moisture just replace it as you said. I’m amazed at friends of mine who NEVER change their brake fluid. Same fluid 5 years. I finally got him to drop by my house and we did his in 30 mins. Said he thought he needed new pads. The pads were fine, bad fluid makes for much worse braking - huge safety concern! Easy job for almost anyone. Thanks for showing people how easy it is.
Easy work for you today Del, makes a huge difference if you have a compressor. There are also systems available with a pump action. Perhaps you could see if you could do a test on one of these to see if they are any good, for those of us without the benefit of a compressor. Thanks for your videos. Catch you Friday. 😊
Hi Andy, buy yourself a small compressor mate, you won't regret it, many tools run on air, and or course, accurate, quick and simple tyre checks every day (as we should be doing aye, lol).. once you have one mate, you'll find lots of uses for it..
Super job ! Did mine last year. Both clutch and brakes… had water in the clutch system if you recalled. Water sure sneaky little devil. Replaced the seals. Oh well. I do have one those vacuum units. Sure handy.
Some tools are really worth more than they cost, like the vacuum bleeder. A little scary working around all the beautiful new paint with brake fluid. A steady hand and nerves of steel. At my age I have neither. 😁 What a perfect color combo on the bike. Big props to Penny's color choice and your paint work. Blessings my friends. ❤👍👍
I have often found a hydraulic clutch a bit of a conundrum in that the leaver at the handlebar isn't stiff like a brake. Got mine to do as I am changing my rubber hose for a steel braided afair (when this rain finally stops, lol) Got the other similar tool you recommend Del for when you did the oil change on Penny's van. I'm swapping out not only my cars engine oil but the automatic transmission fluid as well. Should make it a breeze! God bless you both x
Sure thing buddy, the oil vacuum pump is a wonderful toy, great for making fork oil change easy as well... have fun with it and god bless as always, D&Px
Del, bought a sealey bleed kit on the back of watching this video. Would appreciate your guidance. Do you open both bleed nipples at same time when bleeding front brakes? And do you open them after creating a vacuum in the bleed system first? Same for closing. Do you close bleed nipples before taking bleed pipes off? Sorry for idiot questions but first attempt at doing this and got abs brakes so don’t want to get it wrong.
Hi Kevin. It's not dritical mate, if you have the two hose kit, then yes, plug the hoses into both calipers, open both bleed valves, and blast away... you'll see it drains quite slowly, if it stalls a bit and won't suck down, then gently pump the lever slowly to help it through..and VERY important, with ABS make double sure you don't run the reservior dry, keep it topped up at all times, and when you're happy you've purged enough through, lock off both bleed valves right away, then pop the hoses off. Good luck with it mate, and have fun.
Del does that bike have ABS , I have to replace my brake line from ABS to Master cylinder because it's too short. I do have one of those PNEUMATIC brake bleeders so it should work I believe, I know the when the dealer does it they plug into the ABS pump and do it that way.
Again, the usual consummate and professional job. Also it could be called : ‘how to make an easy but annoying task MUCH simpler and easier -as long as one has an air compressor”. Or as long as one has a BIG syringe and does one brake line at a time( for twin discs that is) I think you’ve done that previously with a large syringe- not sure. Did you consider doing Piston overhaul kits for all of the M/Cs- especially as you suspected 4 year old fluids? - NOT criticising though. I hope Sealey gives you a good discount on tools- they’ve certainly sold me some due to you. Thanks again. Regards.
Thanks buddy, in the original project I did re-kit all the calipers with new seals, so confident they're ok, it's just aged water logged fluid... and yes, the big syringe works really well, even for ABS systems! Thanks for your kind support.
Nice to see starting off fresh, indeed! Agreed on the rear fluid replacement tubes to make it look racy, and the switch of a lot of decidedly non-race bikes to the laughable looking little Urine Sample cups perched way up on spindly little brackets sprouting from handlebars, is a fashion faux pas that I just can't abide personally, lol
Nice video Del & Penny, hope you had a great New Year. Job well done mate, I know I would not be without my vacuum brake and clutch bleeder, it saves so much time. Take care from Oz, Cheers
Another job ticked off like you say, and you're right, the vacuum bleeder makes life much easier! Enjoy the rest of your week there in sunny Oz, hope 2024 has started off great for you, all the very best, D&Px
Great work to the V2 but I have to say the V1 of the Quacker was the epitome of a Kawasaki, having more than my share of them, my vote goes to the V1 model. The guy that you sold it to destroyed it, I was gob smacked at the changes he made when seen.
Hi buddy, thanks for your kind words, it's gone three pairs of hands since me, somebody peeled the wrap off and did a pretty cool airbrush rendition of it, fake rust and all, but then the last guy just painted it in the bright green... no damage done, it's just paint and all happy with it now!
Hi Pedro, yes indeed, lav mic slowly checking out, all replaced now with a Rode radio set up... big investment, but well worth it, will be much improved from now on.
Awesome video brother!!! I need to treat my self to that bleeder, looks so simple !!! Bike is looking great 👍 and way to go on adding the rear brake fluid reservoir 👍 keep up the good work brother ! Stay safe guys cheers from New York !!!! 🍺🍺🍺🍺
First time i saw you use one of those vacuum brake bleeding gizmos i ordered one, since getting one i`ve used it on all my mates bikes when i do their annual services for them, Harleys, Suzukis, Hondas, my own 2003 Harley sportster & my 02 Triumph America, brilliant pieces of kit they are, literally takes me minutes to bleed brakes and all it costs my mates is a bottle of Dot3 / 4 and a can of `Wife beater`` Stella lol. Happy new year mate to you and Penny. Glen.
ha ha WB Stella, not very PC buddy lol... and I thought we'd all moved over the Thatcher's Haze these days!! Good call on the bleeder, and great to hear you're taking care of your buddies. Happy New Year from us both!
Thanks Paul 👍, great investment mate, get it ordered, there's a link in the description below the video... drop us a line if you get stuck or have any problems... and thank you for your support as always.
2:29 - Have I really eaten too many 'Absinthe & Nitro-surprise' liqueur chocolates, or did the sound quality just drift because of: 1) An old mic. 2) Cheap mic (won't buy again etc!). 3) A badly earthed husband, or 4) 'Gremlins of '24 - The Quickening'? : )xx
Option 1 and Option 2... but duly replaced Sir with a Rode remote set up coming to a video near you soon! Big investment, but dodgy sound will never do...
Hey Tony, great to hear from you mate, Christmas and New Year flew past, what a year 2023 was! Let's catch up soon, lots of talk about mate. Happy New Year to you both, D&Px
Del these videos are worth their weight in gold for people like me who have only owned a bike for a few years. They give me so much confidence to maintain my own machine. Thank you
Great straight forward video. Love these! Is there something funny going on with the microphone? I've found the speech unusual for the last 2 vlogs Del?
Thank you buddy for such a polite criticism! Yes the lav mic took a dump and finally packed up, also sick of working plugged in with a wire, so we've invested in some Rode radio mics which will vastly improve things, so normal standards resumed shortly!
Hey Tony, I hope you're keeping well bruv, how's life these days? Are you back with a club now, or still riding solo? Take care and enjoy the week, Happy New Year 🎉 D&Px
Riding with a few mates in the Royal British Legion Riders Branch, also still with the Mancunium Chapter of Hog.. still taken a bit of time to get back to riding after my biggie. getting there. only done about 1200 miles this last year, hoping to improve that this year. still enjoying your vids Del @@Moonfleet41
Hi Tony, that's good news mate, as long as you're riding that's all that matters! The same as you, am always struggling these days to get enough mileage in, where does the time ago aye mate? Ride safe.
Here you go mate.. Link to buy.! www.spanner-monkey.co.uk/black-diamond-grip-extra-thick-nitrile-powder-free-gloves-large-pack-of-50-p-124418?search=SSP57L&description=true
Yes, sorry about that, I thought it would be ok, but sadly not, the lav mic seems to have taken a dump, so this week we've invested in a Rode Remote Mic set up, big investment, but the sound will be much improved.
Quick and clean. Another step towards a perfect result. I'm looking forward to hearing this beast bark and frolic across your wonderful English lanes. Günter/Nürnberg
I don't mind doing these jobs manually but I think what has probably convinced me to get something better for a vacuum pump is also car/truck maintenance.
Dead right, i swapped the fluid out in our faily car and it took me 20 minutes, end to end, job done.. well worth the investment, plus it justifies investing in a half decent compressor too aye !
Starting the year off with a good one! A good benefit of doing your own work on your bikes is instead of spending your hard-earned gold paying someone to do the work for you, you get to spend that money on really cool tools to make it even easier to do MORE of your own maintenance and repair, so you save MORE gold, which allows you to buy MORE tools to make it easier to do MORE difficult jobs easier, which saves you MORE gold, which.... It's a Vicious Cycle ;) I gotta say, if I had that water checker, I would definitely pretend to "short myself out" every time I used it, even if I was the only one there! BZZZZZZ!!!!!! ( I am so very easily amused)
Ha ha.. im not sure what the voltage is, but it gives absolutly no shock, maybe it needs moisture.. but im not doing the 9 volt battery thing we all did as kids..lol! You're right too, investing in a few simple tools to make jobs easier means you'll do them more readily and not neglect things like this. Take care buddy, always good to hear from you D&Pxx
looking at your lovely toolbox, it reminded me of a tool channel I stumbled across the other day called "Shadow Foam". Your probably already aware of the stuff, but just in case your not. I have an idea that it would be just up your road. Anyway, happy new year to you both.
Hi Penny and Del. Happy new year and great video! A simple service, often overlooked - I certainly never knew in the old days that my brake fluid and clutch needed changing. And I HAVE treated myself to a vacuum bleeder and a fluid tester. Money well spent, I say! Take care, dear friends. I hope the year ahead is a good one. Be well and ride safe.
Happy new year Sir, and good shout on the bleeder and tester,m knowledge it power, and when the job is a half hour, clean opperation, it's not somthing you'll put off compared to the messy headache it can be doing it manually... Take care and stay safe.. D&Pxx
It would of been nice to see the reading on the fluid tester when you had put new fluid in
Yes, I very much agree.
Good call mate, it is probably the most neglected fluid change of all, so it's great that you got it done!
Uma linda aula prática de como realizar uma manutenção e de como usar ferramentas. Obrigado!
Thank you for such kind words..
Great video Del. Wise words my friend. Wishing you and Penny a Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
Thank you buddy, wishing you the same, and thank you as always for your kind support. D&Px

Sure are handy, makes it so much simpler. Have a good week there and ride safe!
Love that tool that measures the water content, Del. 🏍️👍🏍️
Thanks mate.. it's hands for a half way check, specially if you ride in rain a lot.
@@Moonfleet41 I imagine so! 😎

I have often found a hydraulic clutch a bit of a conundrum in that the leaver at the handlebar isn't stiff like a brake.

Like i said below mate, systems differ, it wored ok on my Harley, but i can't guarantee all bikes are the same. !
Never knew about the tester, that thing rocks!
Nice one Del 👍
