My first big project was this pattern in red hearts unforgettable. I'd looked over 5 different tutorials and not a one made enough sense for me to use it. Then I found this, cheered, wished I'd had the exact yarn but persisted. Finished it within a few weeks (I crochet slowly) and got comments left and right. This time last year I wanted one in green (had a mint and a dark green from Ella Rae's collection) but had to stop work after I ran out of the dark green. Finally managed to obtain more yarn (christmas got in the way, crafters can relate) and now I'm working on finishing this one up. I had to re-watch video 2 to re-learn the rows, as stubborn as I am I ended up frogging the row one 4 times before breaking down to watch because I was SO sure I knew it well enough. Nope, but the stitches came back fast. Thank you for the easiest tutorial I've ever watched, your talent is off the scale awesome!
I'm using this video to clarify the written instructions. Its very good, not too fast and not too slow. However, I would love it it there was mention of which row you are on every time you start a new row. That would make it easier to check against the written pattern... thank you!
Your tutorials are wonderful!! I've never crocheted before. I learned the basic chain, SC, and DC last week, and this was my first project. Thank you so much for publishing these videos, they are so easy to follow, even though I don't know what I'm doing!!
Thank you so much for the perfectly explained video. Prior to seeing your video, I had printed out instructions from a Pinterest pin, and got so lost, then when I found your videos, I was thrilled! Thanks to you, I am getting this done.
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this tutorial, with your help I will finally be able to get this done for my mother in law in time for Christmas!!!!
Two things I request: One thing that would be very helpful Julia, as the written pattern is hard to follow along with, would be for you to tell us the row number you're starting on when you begin a new row. Many times I have to stop and come back later, or the next day, and I keep getting lost. Some kind of marker would be helpful. if that's possible. Second thing that would be very helpful - if you could hold up your work from time to time so we can get a good look at your work to compare to ours, and to have you explain a little of where you are & exactly what you've been doing which sort of goes back to the 1st things - if these 2 things make sense, it would help me a great deal! Otherwise, thx for sticking with us for the whole long shawl!!! I'm using stitch markers, I like them for big projects to keep me from getting lost occasionally :) Thx for the great void, love all your work!!
+Woolpedia English Yes, I have that already thx. The chart is somewhat blurry and it would just help if you said the row number instead of 'next row'! No problem tho, good video series!
I have always been nervous about trying the virus pattern but watching this u make it look easy I have a swirl yarn similar to this one I want to try making this with. I hope it works as good as it looks 😊
Hi @woolpedia, I loved your tutorial, I'm a visual learner and the written patterns completely scared me off this but you made it so easy to learn! I'm wanting to make it in the same yarn as you and just wondered how big the finished shawl was using the 1 x 100g ball of Lady Dee yarn?
Came upon this recently...the tutorial is good & appreciated, but you need to specify what row you are starting. That way people can follow with the chart; especially since there is no (longer?), a written pattern.
Great video series! Very helpful especially for those of us who find it hard to read and follow the chart which is a bit blurry. Your stitches are so beautiful! How do you manage to not split that unplied yarn?
I'm a bit confused... row 9 I think (14m 10sec) you say to work 10 dc into the large hoop. Am I wrong -when I count the dc marks on the pattern it looks like 9? I'm trying to follow both (for times when I can't have you in my ear) but is the written pattern off or am I on the wrong place?
Hi Karen, we provide only the chart. We did not and have no written pattern in words. If you found it somewhere else than on our websites, it's not ours. Regards, Julia
Hi Judi, please find all the video version embedded in the product description: woolpedia.de/Virustuch-H%C3%A4kelanleitung-Video-&-PDF-p249364631 Have a great weekend! Best, Julia
+Margaret Roberts Hi Margaret, this yarn is handmade in Germany. You can't find it in stores. Just have a look at our shop, we have cheap shipping costs www.woolpedia.net/Woolpedia-Colors
Your video is excellent but you have a mistake in the written pattern on Row 6. The written pattern says 10 DC IN EACH OF THE NEXT 10 DC when it should be 1 DC IN EACH OF THE NEXT 10 DC.
Very helpful, but if you would kill off the annoying, repetitious background music (?), it would be much more relaxing to follow this tutorial and enjoy the stitching.
I am so happy to see someone crochet like I do. Great work!
