His Smash voice was curtesy of Sakurai. Hearing Dedede laugh with his Smash voice makes me think of Sakurai laughing at us
All the more reason to replace! Sakurai has other means to mock us. 😂

@@corruptedplayer He was voiced by Kenichi Ogata in the Japanese version of the anime, not Sakurai.
Sakurai only voices him in 64 and Smash.
If anything, I just think Sakurai's aware of the old "Sakurai: *laughs*" meme.

I don't care how much people like or hate his show voice, that laugh is the most fitting thing possible.
The sound of the English voice is almost exactly like the Japanese voice, minus the accent. Listen to them back to back.

@@foxboy6145 yup. It's not uncommon for voice actors to play multiple roles. Even in the original dub of Pokémon, Veronica Taylor played not just Ash, but also Delia (Ash's mom), May, and likely a ton of side characters and Pokémon herself.

@@foxboy6145 Production companies like hiring actors with a lot of range so they can voice multiple characters. Helps cut down on production time and costs when most of your characters is just one guy talking to himself.

When Sakurai didn't give Dedede his 4Kids voice:

Dedede’s dub voice has been ingrained in my brain as his actual voice. I wonder why they never made it canon, many of the Pokémon have their actors from the show
I feel the same about it. I'd wager it has to do with how big Pokémon got as a series, and how its been integrated into the Pokémon Company itself. If Right Back At Ya managed to become such a financial success, it could've happened. Well, as long as Sakurai ultimately approved it.
To be fair, they're the original Japanese voice actors that are the same and iconic in both the sub and dub. Dedede's voice is different in Japanese, so if we were to get a Kirby game with voice acting, it would undoubtedly be with the Japanese voice actors first. If it ever got localized? Who knows who the voice actors would be. Except for Kirby. He should always have the cute Japanese voice.
@@corazonfeathers8116 Dedede’s been done by Sakurai in Smash, while Meta Knight had his Japanese anime VA since Brawl. I just find it weird how their dub VAs got ignored despite the show doing really well.

@@danielvakser9993 it’s supposed to lol. Penguins are commonly found in the south, so 4kids gave him a southern accent. A lot of their decisions worked well for comedy sake.

That show is ancient history in relative terms. Few people would probably remember it, let alone recognize the voice.

The only heavy that I would keep with their current nonhuman voice is Ridley, it makes him sound like even more of a monster. Despite his personality in smash being so cunning, he's an alien space pirate dragon first and foremost.
King. K Rool's and Dedede's respective shows voices are the best implementation of what their voices would be

To be fair, it's a great opening theme. At the least catchy!
I gotta say, having Dedede sound like a Texan prospector wasn't a choice I would have initially thought to make, but man does it work well for him. Likewise, having Meta Knight have a Spanish accent works brilliantly too. 4Kids made a lot of mistakes over the years, but overall I'd say their handling of Right Back At Ya was pretty solid overall.
I have to agree. 4kids did a pretty good job with Kirby anime. It’s has a much better dub than most of their anime dub by 4kids like Sonic x, mew mew power, magical doremi, one piece(ugh that was the worst dub by 4kids ever!) Kirby right back at ya and TMNT 2003 are the only shows I personally love and care about on the foxbox/4kids tv.

King DDD sounds like he's choking on something and Meta Knight sounds like an angry boomer thwomp. Sakurai should have just asked the 4Kids voice actors to voice act their respective characters, instead because they sound way better and fit really nicely.
How much control did Sakurai even have over the dubbing though? Honestly, the dub voice acting feels like 4Kids being 4Kid...
