An anthem for a kid's right to be a kid. So kids say and do some of the wrong things sometimes. We all do! This is a classic Broadway show with a classic message. I'm so proud to have seen it. A great song!

Gaah!! I love this song, such a wonderful message that children deserve a voice, their rights, and respect. They are our future! This song is so empowering! I'm teaching it to a group of students, and above everything else, I hope they take the message of this song to heart.
Annathecommenter Adults are sculpted by their childhoods. If we were to put more effort into "Creating Our Future!" instead of "Teaching Our Future!" Then we'd have more that 5% of people actually contributing to advancing the world, instead of settling for a job as an Actor or Walmart employee.
I love the way the lyrics use the term revolting children let me explain if you don't get it.... So they are revolting because it's a rebellion But also the trunchbull calls kids revolting as in gross.... So double whammy
Tim Minchin has really out done himself this time......it's uncanny how well he seems to understand the mind of a child, that he knows that it's not all sunshine and rainbows and puppies, and that children are revolting. But that' not to say that children are all bad, it's just kids being kids. Plus, this song has a great beat, and is over all unforgettable. Kudos to you, Mr. Minchin ^_^
We just did Matilda as our "musical performance" And the scenes and dances were all fun but none were as fun as this. Everyone was involved and it was overall amazing. Currently reminiscing on happy practicing memories... 😫😫

just got home from an audition for matilda the musical, we were taught a bit of choreography that went along with this song and it was brilliant! very energetic and fun and i loved the song so much i came home and listened to it :)
I always avoiding the Maditila soundtrack just because (with a few notable exceptions) most theatre kid voices are grating to me, but this is legitimately a really good song. And in a time where kids are getting tested and graded more and more, being less able to be a child, I'm going to have to listen to the whole thing, but give it a few years and this will be the revolution cry.
Sadie Morey Yes it was a lot of fun! But sadly no, she didn't. But the Trunchbull was actually played by a man! Lol! He wore a fake bra and it looked really weird. :P
Catherine Dunn I am Miss Trunchbull for my drama club and let me say is she ridiculous and dramatic and this song is sooo cool! Though The Smell Of Rebellion is cool as well.
'We don't need no education, we don't need no thought control ...' Pink Floyd Another Brick in the Wall 1979. Funny how the message never really changes. Great song from Matilda ... same message 30 years later.

Yeah they did do it because of that
Matilda is a book by Roald Dahl
