Would be cooking to hear some contrasting leads. See what that black guitar sounds like. Pretty cool Mr. Haynes throwing it down with the 'imitators'. Love me those 'Rusties'. Wish I was in there, too.

Amazing!! how did it happened?? at this time I was on holidays at the Lago di Garda!! if I knew that my favorite guitar player Warren Haynes stay only some 100 kilometers from me I had immediately jump into my car !!!

He just keeps the song so in balance with his style and licks. Warren is one amazing guitar player today... I've heard many renditions of this awesome song but none compare to the ones Warren is contracted to assist in. .
Some parts just make the hair stand up on your arm . Great job again. Really love this version. Just wish the mixer would of turned up his amps a bit more. They got overpowered by the band which did a beautiful job as well.

This performance was completely improvised on the spot (no rehearsal and no soundcheck).
Warren played through that small Fender amp (and not through his usual stage rig) that was set up on stage behind his feet at the last minute.
Please also note that this audio mix is the result of a matrix mix sourced from multiple and fragmented smartphones audience recordings. 🙂

Well you all did one hell of a job. Because it worked perfectly. I kinda thought it was unrehearsed when I saw Warren start to sing for a minute and then pulled back. The harmonies at the end were kick ass.
You all really did justice to this song.
Absolutely loved it. I've played it many times already. Hats off to you guys. Really outstanding performance!! ✌️😎🎸🎸🎶🎶🙏🙏💪💪💪🇺🇸🇺🇸

Sin duda Warren Haines es el mejor intérprete de esta bellísima rola de Neil Young ❤.

Just a shame that the mix is so heavy on the rhythm section. I would have loved to have heard Warren’s guitar properly.

Neil ,never in his life , played Cortez the Killer this great .

Rolling Stone critiqued the song's idyllic view of Mesoamerica, noting that despite the song's contention that "War was never known" to the Aztecs, in actuality they were "in a near-constant state of war", and that while the song claims people sacrificed themselves "so others could go on", in reality "Innocent people were tied to posts and brutally tortured and killed.
Nevertheless , in spite of all the whining , Cortez irreversibly stamped South and Central America Spanish for all time. And Cortez will be remembered long after Neil Young and his great music with childish lyrics are long forgotten.
"southern man don't need him around anyhow" . . . neither does Latino man.

    • @MarcoGrompi
      @MarcoGrompi  ปีที่แล้ว +3

Obviously Rolling Stone missed the point (again): this is just a great song, and Neil Young wrote it. We're talking about songs, not history. And yes, Cortez was truly a killer (and the song remains the same).
Many of us strongly believe this song will be remembered in the "Great History Book of Songs". Probably that's why we (as many others all over the world) love to jam on it forever.
      Peace & Love

@@MarcoGrompi excelente respuesta, si ustedes son críticos observen como estamos todos los países "conquistados" por España, tercer mundo, y los países "civilizados" por Inglaterra son países desarrollados, una abrupta diferencia

I agree with the others who said that this is NOT about politics, war, religion, the current/past state of the world, etc. To me (and I’m almost 70) it’s about, and should remain so, the MUSIC and TALENT of those who are playing/performing - NOTHING ELSE❗️
