wanted to make a complilation of all my monthly videos, so I did! I added january of 2023 in there as I never made a video on it, and I also re-edited some sections so it feels more like one continuous video instead of 12 separate ones. so yeah if you've already watched the others, at least there is some new stuff here for you, and if you haven't, this is the best way to catch up!
this breaks my heart to say, but i struggle to get invested in / spend time playing video games now. but watching through videos like this and hearing raz and others gush about games makes me desperately want to dive back into playing these games and get lost in the worlds they create.
I think a lot of people (incl. me) feel this way these days, based on forums and subreddits. Actually stepping into a game feels like it requires a level of commitment and "initial energy" that I don't often apply. It's the same sort of thing as scrolling through TH-cam videos instead of watching a movie I'm interested in... because one doesn't require me to make a decision or commit to more than a few min, I end up just "settling" for the thing that won't make me as happy, but is easier to do or requires less commitment.
@@razbutwo I mean I'll at least let it run when I go to bed one night for your algorithm. Gotta make up for me immediately clicking off when I realized I didn't have time for it
I thought about it, but I think the quality of certain things is just a little below my standards for the main channel (like this is trying to match audio that was recorded over an entire year, so while I think it is pretty solid, there are way more inconsistencies than what typically shows up on the main channel). Also, as I talked about these games the month I played them, some of my thoughts have changed a fair bit (which was reflected in my Games That Got Me Through 2023 video), and I felt like it might be a bit jarring. so yeah idk you are probably right that this could have gone on the main channel and would have gotten way more views and benefitted me much more than it going here lol BUT I just felt more comfortable keeping second channel stuff on the second channel.
These monthly videos have been some of my favourites to watch throughout the last year. It’s been a crazy year, with not as much time to play what I wanted to, but listening to your picks and recommendations (and in a way, just listening to the ups and downs with you) has been fantastic! Thank you for taking the time for putting these together, seriously! Can’t wait to see what stories we explore in 2024!
I just got Citizen Sleeper based on your recommendation, and you are 100% spot on. There is so much about this game that I enjoyed, it has high replay ability, and I was drawn completely drawn into the world. I do not have a gaming PC so I got this on Switch - the ONLY downside is on Switch my game kept crashing so I would have to redo a cycle, but the game was so fantastic I kept playing even with game crashes. Normally game crashes would have me put a game down, and they were frustrating, but I was so invested I kept playing. I'm hoping this gets updated so the game stops crashing on Switch - but for anyone even remotely interested in this game, I would highly recommend giving it a try
Have you played Lego city undercover? Heard it's good, and it's not like most games, since it's casual asf, and maybe you're burned out and you'd like it (idk tho)
Being consistently impressed is a great way to describe TOTK. A lot of my playthrough was thinking, "I wonder if I can do this" and feeling elated when I could, in fact, do that.
Loved listening/ watching this while holding my newborn son on a lazy Sunday in my lazy boy. I have been going through a backlog journey since the beginning of 2020. It was an absolute treat watching someone else’s journey through what they played over the course of a year. I’ve been cataloguing mine. Been such a cathartic experience over the years. Great content man. Can’t wait to watch more
I had a blast this year so far. Played Lies of P, Wo Long, Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Monster Hunter Sunbreak, Shadow of the Erdtree, Blasphemous, Moonscars, Dragon's Dogma 2, Salt and Sacrifice, Nier Replicant Remake and Stellar Blade.
I wasn't able to finish Bioshock. I couldn't find the Sisters which resulted in me being severely underleveled. Half the time I couldn't figure out how to reach the destination. Glad you liked it.
@@dankolord I dunno. The map is really confusing. The arrow doesn't help much because I can't figure out HOW to reach the destination, not where it is.

It feels really good to hear opinions on TotK's dungeons that isn't just bitching about them not being like traditional ones It feels like Raz is the only content creator who has actually judged the dungeons based off their puzzle design, esthetics, atmosphere, and boss fights as opposed to just "it's not like the old ones so they're automatically bad"

I 100% agree on the gameplay side of Bio Infinite but that story is the only thing that consistently makes me want to play it again. IMO they nailed that side of the equation - perfectly expanded on the story and twists that were developed in the earlier entries of the series.
I just want to say thank you. I enjoy your videos, on both channels and your love for FromSoft games absolutely resonates with me. Also your sign off is perfect. I will see you next time unless either of us decide to stop doing this.

If you loved Return of the Obra Dinn and The Case of the Golden Idol, you have to play Chants of Sennaar. It's definitely the most enjoyable game I played last year
I love love love OneShot. I played it at just the right time in my life for it to make the most impact, and the Solstice update along with how the characters interacted with each other, myself included, just hit in all the right ways. I also love the idea of a game being so intent on only playing it once, and letting yourself -- like everything -- else slowly forget the specifics. It's truly one of my favorites. And, they were right, the details have started to blur, only leaving me with the overall story and how it's affected me. Which, as deeply saddening as it is, is a really beautiful thing. I'll always recommend it to people, though, even knowing it'll never be the same for them as it was for me
Im super excited to watch this! I just finished watching the others last night, but theres always some details that are bound to be missed while I multi-task.Thank you!
I really wish I had had a similar experience to you with Tears of the Kingdom. I plan to jump back into it but I got up to around 80 hours of playtime back in May/June and found myself really getting sick of the game. I was someone who loved Breath of the Wild when it released and so Tears of the Kingdom was maybe my most anticipated game ever, so I was so dissapointed to find the game just really wasnt clicking with me. Whereas exploring hyrule in breath of the wild felt like making my own adventure, tears of the kingdom feels to be like a checklist of repetitive, boring objectives in a world I've already explored. Mechanically its really cool and I expecially love the ascend ability, and the depths are surprisingly satisfying to explore despite also seeming fairly empty and pointless. But exploring the overworld and sky of hyrule really gave me none of the feeling of discovery and mystery I got from playing breath of the wild. I plan on trying it again soon and I hope my feelings change after finishing the game, but so far I feel like the 80 hours I've played have left very little impression on me, and I don't have any memories of the game really wowing me in the same way Breath of the Wild and later Elden Ring did. Anyway good video and thanks if you read this, wish you all the best.
The way you describe Rain World makes me think of the new HBO series Scavengers Reign, in which the main characters are constantly evaluating how the alien world around them works and how they, the actual aliens here, fit into the ecosystems they encounter.
I only recently found your channel and you seem very good at what you do. Our opinions on games align quite well and when they don't I can always see the reasoning behind your points. It's intriguing to hear your thoughts on games whether you liked the game or not. I have a question: Did you play One Shot the second time? If you played it once you played only 60% of the game. The second time you play it completes the game and has only little repetition to the first playthrough. It's also shorter. I strongly recommend playing it for the second time to get the full picture. And this comes from a person who almost never play games again, even with games like Resident Evil 2 that offer two different characters and routes to play.
What a great lineup of games. Good choices. Ive played or own and intend to play almost every one of these. Im finally making my own list for ‘24 with goal of actually finishing games I start, including the new Dead Space remake. Hard for me to replay games though as 1) there’s so many good games out there I feel like I could be enjoying new experiences 2) when i do play games i play the heck out of them, not much to go back to. That said, games like BioShock I played so long ago, if I played them now they’d be new to me
I spent a LOT of time playing Tears of the Kingdom and Monster Hunter Rise/World/3u last year. Also played Gris. Gris might be my favorite of the bunch. This is the year of JRPGS for me. But looking at this list adds a lot of stuff to my list!
Holy smokes, I haven't even started watching yet, but I can already tell this is one heck of a video! 2023 was definitely a great year for video games! Although I have to say, I'm kind of surprised that Armored Core 6 isn't in this list, especially considering that you played 3 other FromSoft titles this year. Is it because you haven't played it yet, or is there any other reason I'm not aware of? I'm very interested to see your honest take on AC6 because I think it's at least worth giving a shot.
@@razbutwo It's cool, time for yourself comes first! Also, if you enjoyed ghostrunner, then I highly recommend Ultrakill, if you haven't played tried it yet.
Well, guess this is my cue to see each of the months for like the fourth time now! I've loved this series and excited for this year, Unless you decide to stop doing this:)
Ive been in the same situation when playing Eldenring, knowing i have a set amount of time to play because i will become a Dad, so every moment of the game felt much more precious
raz have you thought about playing fear and hunger or it's sequel, termina? It's the world's most horrifying game, so definitely check the content warnings, but otherwise I would highly reccomend it, maybe the best horror games I've ever played.
The Looker may be a B tier game, but the ending was S tier. On another note, I understand the reason for a chronological video, but I wish it was ranked instead. Maybe a separate video?
LOL so to be clear on the timeline here, my wife was due in March of 2022 and Elden Ring came out in February of 2022, so the billion games I played in the February section here was a year after she gave birth. With that said, in February of 2022 I did play Pokémon Legends Arceus, Sifu, The Stanley Parable, Nier: Automata and Elden Ring, so...
Hi-Fi Rush is simply brilliant. Can NOT fathom Xbox cut the studio loose. But now Netease or Tencent, or someone bought the studio with talk of a sequel
man I hope you replay resident evil 4 the original, even if you don't make a video about remakes or whatever. its really quite different in a way thats not necessarily better or worse but for sure makes the remake feel like a different game entirely
I'm curious to know if you ever played Mass Effect its my favorite franchise ever and would strongly recommend it to everyone! The remake trilogy is absolutely amazing to play through!
Hey Raz, just curious how you store/organise your footage. Do you record full playthroughs of each of these games and still keep them? Or do you start to delete footage once you've finished the related video? Or do you only record a couple hours of each game? Do you have notes on specific moments as you play and just make certain to keep those parts? I've been recording my gaming sessions and am just lookikg for some advice. Thanks :)
I record full playthroughs of everything I play and keep them all on a NAS. I do not have a system for taking notes, which does lead to a fair amount of searching for stuff, but the hard thing is you don't always know what kind of clip you need so I'd spend a lot of time taking notes on things I think might be important. I have convinced myself that doing that for every game I played would take longer than just searching for stuff. Dunno if that is reality, but it is what I am going with. In general, I do have a pretty decent memory of when certain things happened in a game's playthrough, so it generally doesn't take too long.
PSA: Kena Bridge of Spirits now available on Xbox. Like playing a Pixar movie. With long, cinematic and beautiful cutscenes, and combat, while fairly simple, is very fulfilling and even challenging, particularly on harder difficulties. Not Dark Souls hard but dont let the game’s look fool you. This is definitely recommend. Posting this for all the xbox gamers to take advantage. Lets get these devs some money so next game wont be exclusive elsewhere.
Tbh I really hated being forced to use return to sender just to survive. The vigors were also so washed down + made more expensive eve-wise that they just weren't even that useful. Bucking bronco, Murder of Crows and Shock Jockey(electro bolt) all feel like the same vigor as they do basically the same thing. Possession is too expensive eve-wise to be useful anywhere and the melee-vigor Charge leaves you really vulnerable after using it. The rest were...fine. Bioshock 1 and 2 are amazing, though I enjoyed 2 a tad more due to 2 having dual-wielding, better gene tonic options AND NO STUPID MEATSHIELDS(yes, the last quarter of bs1 was hella annoying).
Jesus man, I struggled to play 2 and a half games last year. I got hi fi rush and played through it about 3-4 times. Then I got Quake 2 remastered and switched between that and ultrakill until the year was over. This year Isn't much different, OG quake with Arcane dimensions mod for the 5th time and trying to P rank Ultrakill. I remember Bioshock was the first game I got with my 360 and remember being amazed how "open" it felt with the lived in level design and my approach to combat encounters with the plasmids and tonic because of that I replayed the game constantly and just never got bored because my memory of the layout improved and you just enter this godlike flowstate. Bioshock 2 even more so, but with more gruesome combat I played infinite once, tried to play it again. Got bored.
Hi, I really enjoyed your video and I will watch more of yours. I have a really hard time for a while now and I can't get myself to play games in one piece for years now. Normally, I just play for about an hour until reality and the problems are present again. Especially the anxiety of having so little time is ruining everything for me. I just start a game, play for a bit and move on to other games, because I can't stick to one, even if I want to. My biggest goal was always to beat a FromSoftware Souls game. I tried so many times, but I can't even get to the first boss. Is there any Souls game that you can recommend?
It's hard for me to remember absolutely everything I played last year because it feels like 50% of it was getting sucked into the Armored Core series, and the other 50% was getting sucked into the Monster Hunter series. My favorite game that came out last year was Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon, and my favorite game I played that didn't necessarily come out last year that I played for the first time was Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. My other highlights were Pizza Tower, Hi-Fi Rush, Street Fighter 6, and Super Mario Bros Wonder. It is a huge disappointment to see another From Software fan that just brushes them off if they aren't making a Souls-like though. You really owe it to yourself to play Armored Core 6, and a lot of the other games in the series if you can.
@@razbutwo that's fair. I definitely recommend you try it if you can find the time. It's definitely not as difficult as From's other recent titles (or even as hard as Last Raven, the hardest Armored Core game by a long shot), but it's an unapologetic thrill ride, well worth your time to get all the endings.
If I had a nickel for every time a popular FPS series had a game named ____ infinite that forgot some of what made previous games great, I would have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
I love ac 2 so I will be slighly bias but I do think viewing the game in a negative light due to the aftermath of how the wider industry ran with it's design isn't particularly far to ac 2. That's Like the Bioshock example of hating the first or second game because it led to infinite. It's the same issue I run into with AC fans who hate Origins because it started the trend towards Valhalla. Which my view is Origins was neccessary to reinvent the franchise and did a good job of doing so. Over time Valhalla learnt the wrong lessons and became less ac in both mechanics and story to become as much of an open world rpg as possible.
I’m always shocked the amount of people that prefer Sekiro to Bloodborne. I truly wonder which game is more loved by the soulslike community. It seems about equal, and really it doesn’t matter because objectively they’re quality is indistinguishable
I really enjoyed Remnant 2, me and my brother tried getting through the first one but we gave up, it jsut wasn't a good game. I wasn't that bothered about Wo Long, it just didn't feel fun to play for me
For a while I was storing it all on external hard drives with a google drive business account as a back up. Google recently changed their storage limits though (used to be unlimited for $20 a month, but now it is 5TB for that price which I am well beyond, and anything over that amount gets wildly expensive quickly. Most recently I got a NAS which has been the perfect solution for me.
@@razbutwo I am currently using a 4TB external hard drive and I have to constantly choose what footage to part with when I start recording a new game. I will definitely check out NAS! Thanks a lot, and great work on the video as always, cheers!

Have not played it yet
@@razbutwo It's cool, time for yourself comes first!
Also, if you enjoyed ghostrunner, then I highly recommend Ultrakill, if you haven't played tried it yet.
I love your channel!! Thanks for the hard work!!
For me i finish almost 65 games in 2023 and just buy everhood and starting playing it right now it is great game by the way
Well, guess this is my cue to see each of the months for like the fourth time now! I've loved this series and excited for this year, Unless you decide to stop doing this:)
Bioshock 2 is also my favorite of the series, idk I’ve just always felt it was the perfect Bioshock game
Ive been in the same situation when playing Eldenring, knowing i have a set amount of time to play because i will become a Dad, so every moment of the game felt much more precious
I can't stand a 1h30 movie but here I am watching Raz's 1h55 games of 2023 for the third time this week
Damn man, this is super cool. Love the idea
Man, what a great list!
I loved bioshock infinite the art style is amazing
raz have you thought about playing fear and hunger or it's sequel, termina? It's the world's most horrifying game, so definitely check the content warnings, but otherwise I would highly reccomend it, maybe the best horror games I've ever played.
It is on my list to play-just haven’t gotten the courage to play it yet lol
@@razbutwo Yeah I don't blame you lol. First time I've been genuinely terrified by any horror media since I was a kid.
The Looker may be a B tier game, but the ending was S tier. On another note, I understand the reason for a chronological video, but I wish it was ranked instead. Maybe a separate video?
I loved biosock too but my favorite has to be biosock infinite though! It was so fun to me
Wife: *due date is in March *
Raz: 👀
also Raz: *Plays 5626171818 Games in February *
LOL so to be clear on the timeline here, my wife was due in March of 2022 and Elden Ring came out in February of 2022, so the billion games I played in the February section here was a year after she gave birth. With that said, in February of 2022 I did play Pokémon Legends Arceus, Sifu, The Stanley Parable, Nier: Automata and Elden Ring, so...
Ohhh a 2 hours videooo
Can't wait to watch this lets goo
1:08:34 giving all of the engagement
Hi-Fi Rush is simply brilliant.
Can NOT fathom Xbox cut the studio loose. But now Netease or Tencent, or someone bought the studio with talk of a sequel
2023, what a year, sad to see it go.
What’s up raz! Found u about a month ago and love the vids!
Lies of P was MY game of the year 😢
All I’ve gotta say is Tears of the Kingdom is one of the few games out there that can compete with the likes of Rdr2, Elden ring, Baldurs gate 3, etc
I don’t who the hell you are but your video was suggested for me so I’m gonna watch it and tell you what I think.
Great to listen to while hanging out with my 6 month old in the morning
man I hope you replay resident evil 4 the original, even if you don't make a video about remakes or whatever. its really quite different in a way thats not necessarily better or worse but for sure makes the remake feel like a different game entirely
Have u tried Demon Turf and Justice Sucks? Both are true hidden gems in my opinion 👌
21:47 bro the combat is literally just subway surfers
I'm curious to know if you ever played Mass Effect its my favorite franchise ever and would strongly recommend it to everyone! The remake trilogy is absolutely amazing to play through!
Yeah! I played the whole trilogy in 2015 (iirc?). Definitely enjoyed it! I especially liked Mass Effect 2.
@@razbutwo Thank you!
I would suggest playing shovel knights dlc Specter knight it is really fun
Kena mentioned! :)
sable is amazing too
PSA:
Kena Bridge of Spirits now available on Xbox.
Did you play Alan Wake 2 ? I think you should try it. Loved the video very useful!
Bioshock 2 even more so, but with more gruesome combat
I played infinite once, tried to play it again.
Is there any Souls game that you can recommend?
have you considerd playing a game from project moon?
I think there is a massive difference between brushing something off and not having had the time to play it just yet.
Over time Valhalla learnt the wrong lessons and became less ac in both mechanics and story to become as much of an open world rpg as possible.
soooooooo whats your update on bg3 so far? :)
I wasn't that bothered about Wo Long, it just didn't feel fun to play for me
Raz please check out Marvel Midnight suns! It’s a realt underrated turn based deckbuilding game
For 2024 you should play all the old Ben 10 games(not the reboot)
I feel like the discussion of Sable and Tchia are damn near reversible...
No Super Mario Bros Wonder or Gravity Circuit!?!?
How do you store this amount of gameplay? I’m looking for a better way to archive my footage.
What’s the very first game in the intro? Is that even a game? Looks good
Hifi rush
1:04:30 Metalic Fruit hhhhhhh, someone took pine username lol
So, what happened to the stream clips that were on this channel? They seem to be gone. :/
My nick name is Razmataz by my friends and I go by Raz. I can't believe there's another Raz is the world. Hi.
