Just remember a RAID is not a backup. Having all your data in one place is now a single point of failure. Should have another one of these being cloned in a different location or also syncing the most important stuff to a cloud service (ideally one you host yourself)
The thing that held me back from getting it was the lack of understanding how the remote access worked and the additional equipment (cost/effort). This made it more understandable
I mean you could go another route like building your own NAS but as you said it takes time to handle things outside your network (setup tailscale) the 'expensive' route is just buy a Synology NAS and let them handle those things so it's just a plug a play....convenience over price I would say but overall anyone should have one instead of paying for cloud storage
The remote access might be the thing I need. I genuinely might set up one for my mom’s house. Especially with my sisters having as many family photos as they have.
just be careful opening a bunch of random ports and stuff to your loved ones homes lol Look into secure ways to do it with certificates and open source protocols like OpenVPN
You can do virtualization on it as well for some of the higher productivity models. Synology is definitely a Godsend for any creative needing to have a consistent and convenient place for storage. Encrypting all traffic, the download station as well 👌
Synology just sending out NAS systems left and right and us common folk who also need it but can’t afford it are sitting back looking like like ima run out of space before I can get one. 😭
Man i used to watch you all the time and now I remembered you but couldnt remember your channel name, I just searched for a headphone collection video and thankfully found your channel after 4 years💀🤣
I have to give props to Synology, but for what they offer, there are other systems that are completely comparable. Their price just kills it for most people
If yah editors work remotely you could use geolocation as part of the verification to sign in and download/upload files but use a virtual machine that only has the relevant files on to access remotely- I love to make a one looks cool - compress and encrypt backup to cloud or send onetime file to cloud to remotely download that would be cool to work remotely. Nice Vid
@@PixelRuzthe explains tech in a way that your AVERAGE consumer can understand. Unless you only want him reviewing Walmart mice, there’s nothing wrong with him covering this sort of tech.
I can't be mad at the progress, but maybe it's time for a name change lol. Either that or cover a more average consumer equivalent for all the high grade stuff like this that he covers. "I know the average consumer might not have the budget for this, so I came up with a few options for someone just getting started in self hosting and nas hardware" this would balance it out 😂. I can't be mad at him for reaching new levels, but like I said, maybe it's time for "Ur not-so avg consumer" to become a thing LOL.
Having everything in one location is great but also makes one point of failure. Make sure there are multiple copies of all data! Honestly if I was you I would have the same size NAS in the office and at home and have them back each other up.
Your next project should be a server rack. Home labs are fun and something I am doing. I’m just doing it for a hobby and to learn something new but it’s a whole rabbit hole lol. The wait till you discover Tailscale which I use or one of the other ones like zero tier or netbird.
There is alot of new gear in so many videos. I feel like we need a updated tour video of studio and mancave. Also curious if his front doorknob is still crooked 😂
Bro just let me see how beautiful my soon to be 3 studio display setup will look 😅 I m a software engineer. Don’t judge. I have been using a 27” 5k iMac and a 27” LG 5k Ultrafine monitor for like 5-6 years now. It’s time for a 3rd 5k monitor
Hey Jud long time subscriber here I know you probably won’t see this but I was wondering if you could do a video on your recommendation on a home security system. Just bought a house and looking at the diy systems from simpli safe and cove but don’t know which one is the best bang for your buck. Thanks you in advanced if you and up doing it!!
Dude still hasnt even BROUGHT UP the iphone 16 giveaway. Isnt that something he can get in trouble like unbox therapy? Promising something for his fans and not delievering, its hard to even watch his content anymore🙁
How loud are those Synology NAS? My office is zero fan noise or disk noise with my mac studio and MacBook pro and all external SSD's. Total silence. Will the NAS destroy my silent bliss yes no?
I swear this guy lives in my brain... I was just looking into getting a NAS a few days ago 🤨
🤣
I added a small one to my apartment a few years ago. it's been amazing.

I remember being introduced to Nas, hits for days.

Uravgconsumer uploads video.. automatic must watch. Content is always a1!
Hmm.....I may need to look into getting a NAS. Thanks for always dropping quality content.
That is from Indian tv series LOL: 1:25
I've a Synology for years in my home and I love it

Great devices, terrible prices. I have a two bay with 20TB, more than enough for my home use.
I just got one in October. Been a game changer. I think I need more storage I may have to get another
1:24 THAT WASHING LAPTOP FOOTAGE, CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD
Me too
Love it! I need one of these for my house! Very convenient!

Will it run on a T-mobile 5G home internet Device? What’s the minimum network speed do you need?
I may need to look into one of those! Thanks!
Do you have a redundant system in a separate location? A 190tb plus loss would be soul crushing.
Suddenly all TH-camrs are amazed at something that I’ve been using for years 😂 And it’s always Synology 😉 Has Sony bought Synology?
been thinking about getting this setup for the past 2 months.
Cant i do it with the lexar professional workflow at a smaller scale? like all the efficiencies?

what is the life expectancy of the NAS? (before files start to get corrupted or the disks have bad sectors)
4 mins ago is crazy 😂| I didn’t know you were uploading and also upgrading the studio 😂😂😂
Can I use a nas system as a back up hard drive? For extra games
There is alot of new gear in so many videos. I feel like we need a updated tour video of studio and mancave.
Also curious if his front doorknob is still crooked 😂
Did you make a video setting this system up in your studio?
Can we setup it to auto backup stuffs from our pc/laptop/mobile...?
What is the brand of speakers you have in the background in your home?
Can you connect it to your console? It looks fast enough to handle PS5 read/write speeds
Dose this thing have surge protection?
NICE TECH, FINALLY!✊🏾
This is dope but I really wanna know what lav mic that is
I hope you guys have it in a Raid 1 set up so the data is being backed up regularly.
I just brought the 4tb one last week.
What’s the white switch on top of the NAS?
10 gig switch
Ain’t nobody need 192 Terabytes of space homie
What is the NAS gets Corrupted?
i need this for the photos on my phone 😂

Hopefully they setup another NAS offsite to backup the first NAS. 3-2-1 backup rule.
Great move, that should be the best investment you ever made. I've been Rocking with Synology for about 10 years, I have four different devices.
Might I suggest putting your NAS on a small riser instead of on the floor.

All this love for tech and skipped out on the most important one for content creators 😂
I feel like the only reason I haven't got myself a NAS yet is because they can just be pretty expensive 😭
Doogee blade the power all the way!!!!
I bought one a year ago and i haven't set it up yet it's so complicated for what i want
Then you start using docker, and learn about self hosting and all of sudden you build a home data center
1:24 Gopi Bahu cameo 😂
Thats was one long ad you got there.
You need a unas pro and ubiquiti all the way
To all Indians out that .. That 1:24 Gopi Bahu schene ...
please minute 6:39 danger data...just saying.
Brother, you don’t need those ps3 photos
Amazing 😊😊😊
