  • This video covers seepage and dampness issues and solution to those issues. Briefly, we will discuss problems to seepage and dampness because most of the times you have to reach to the core of the problem in order to get the right solution and fix the seepage.
    We will start with what seepage or dampness actually is? Then we will highlight forms of seepage and why it happens that we get dampness or seepage in the walls and finally we will tell you the solutions through which you can ensure that the seepage doesn’t come and even if it comes, you can eliminate seepage or dampness.
    Seepage is not only hazardous for the structure of the building but is also bad for the health especially for the people having allergies or breathing issues.
    It comes to our knowledge most of the times and at times we see it happening in our house too that paints starts to break and start falling whereas walls start getting wet. With the passage of time, we also see that fungus start to grow on the walls. This is seepage or dampness in walls and ceiling.
    Types of seepage include:
    • Seepage comes and keeps on growing. This seepage is normally due to damaged or leaked pipes.
    • Seepage sometimes comes and sometimes goes away. This seepage is normally due ti P traps not properly fixed or closed.
    • Seepage or dampness comes on the Common wall. This seepage or dampness comes due to gap in the walls or your house and your neighbours house
    • Seepage comes in the floor or in the lower portion of your walls. This seepage normally comes if you have issues in laying the foundation of the house or a building
    • Seepage comes from the upper portion of the wall or comes from the roof of the house or a building. This seepage or dampness is normally due to issues of lintel not properly being laid. This can also happen if water tank is leaking or if the water tank overflows regularly.
    • Seepage or dampness comes in walls. This is normally due to a leaked pipe or any water channel being damaged which is concealed within the walls.
    Some of the main reasons of dampness are as follows:
    • If there is a house constructed in your neighbors, there is a seepage issue if a gap is created within your wall and their wall. This problem comes in smaller houses where is no gap between the two houses. During a rainy season, water seeps through that gap and rests there as it doesn’t dry out. You can know that it is the reason if there is dampness on both the walls. It means that there is dampness on your wall as well dampness on the wall of the neighbors.
    • If the DPC of your house has not been properly placed or foundation of your house is not properly made, the water seeps through the lower portion of your house and dampness comes.
    • Very commonly you see issues of seepage or dampness in the basement floors and moisture comes and the reasons for this is negligence of minor details.
    • Joints of tiles are not properly closed and water starts to seep through these gaps. You see water coming out of your floor in this case.
    • Overhead water tank leaks or overflows and water gets collected on the roof of the house
    • Due to drainage pipes in the walls
    • Getting the house painted soon after it is completed.
    Although it’s a difficult problem to deal with and there is no guaranteed solution but try to reach the root cause and you will be able to solve the problem.
    • Firstly be cautious that walls are properly interlinked especially common walls. Also try to get coating of polythene, bitumen or sealant. Also ask your neighbor to get the same process done on the common walls. This will solve seepage problem or your as well as their house
    • Use of proper DPC with proper ratio of 1:2:4 and should be between 50-150mm depending on the plot area. Try to ensure that foundation is rightly done and if it is rightly done, there are very less chances that seepage is going to come from the foundation. Use padlocks in DPC and check thickness of DPc as 2 inches. Try to get vertical DPC for external walls with 1:3 cement sand ratio. The plaster should be around 0.75 inches and ensure that there should be 2 washings of bitumen on it. Ensure the bitumen washings is done on all the walls of basement. If the plot near you is not constructed, outer plaster of that wall is a must. Use chemicals to prevent seepage and dampness during construction. For basement it is important that you keep RCC walls and use vapor barrier. Fill tiles gap with epoxy or white cement.
    • Use water sealants to restrict moisture. Also, check the slope of the roof. Use tiles around your overhead water tank and ensure that a pipe is there if your water tank flows, the water is channelized properly.
    • When house construction is complete, give proper time for bricks to dry before painting. Use PVC pipes instead of metal pipes

    Bathrooms ki leakage ko prevent karne ke liye tiles lagane se pehle pvc sheet lagani chahiye slab top per. Phir water leakage test karte hain. Next phir screeding Kar ke tiles lay Kar di jati Hai.

    Sir , I have 20 years old house. Getting dampness on floors. I have to change the floor. It is a mosaic floor
    I have two questions
    1. What should I do? Marble or Tiles? (Keeping that dampness in mind)
    2. Should I remove the mosaic part or it is better to input marble/tiles on that existing mosaic floor?
    Very confused. I am looking for long term solution . Please help.

    Sir I have a house that is 10 years old and it had no water seepage until 2016 almost four years back it has passages from the sides and rear and is not at all joined with the neighbours it had few leakages from the pipes which were repaired and some pipes were even changed but still the paint starts to fall and last year we painted the whole house and within a day or so we could see the damp coming again we even applied chemical and tiled up the lawn we thought that the rain water gets absorbed by the soil and the waters starts to rise from the ground but still no significant change so should we get all the walls tiled??

    • @GharPlansPakistan
      @GharPlansPakistan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As highlighted in this video try to get to the core of the issue. If the water seeps through pipes and you get the pipes repaired, it takes some time to dry (almost a year or so). Once again i would reiterate that try to reach the core of the issue and than find a solution

    • @GharPlansPakistan
      @GharPlansPakistan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If there is leakage in case of bathroom it must be from pipe. If you would have checked pipe before it would not have happened. Now the only solution is breaking the tiles, finding the leakage and then repairing it. There is not other alternate in this case
