I loved Nice , st Paul de vence, Eze, Beaulieu sur mer and Cap ferrat . I would like to join your group in case organising tours to Japan.
Hi what's the weather like around that time of year there? Im heading there at the end of August in my camper with the motorcycle, planning on touring around parking the van outside the towns and using the motorcycle to enjoy the towns and roads up the hills
I'm remembering your videos now that I'm on vacation here in Nice. Enjoyed St. Paul yesterday, found Antibes today to be a bit too ritzy for my taste. It was nice to see the Picasso works though. Probably have enjoyed Old Town Nice the most.

Head up to the Jardins de Cimiez today and you’ll find the ancient Roman coliseum, which once entertained with gladiators, the ruins of an immense Roman bath complex, a 500-year-old olive grove, and a still-operating monastery.

During its multi-century Italian period it was called Nizza, and since becoming French just 150 years ago, it is called Nice. I went for a walk by myself and I noticed a young lad following me. I was lucky as I managed to stare him out and fix my bag under my coat to the front so no theft occurred. However, he just sat on one of the benches on the promenade waiting for some other unfortunate person.

love your videos, very well researched and planned. The commentary is always interesting and the sights are , of course, interesting and delightful. My one question is , do you always travel with the same group of people? Every video that I have watched I see the same faces. So, is this a great group of friends that always travel together? Or a wonderful travel club that plans long excursions? Which?
+world wanderer Yes, this Nice show and others in the Provence series were made during a group tour that I led in 2014, so yes, the faces are the same. Over the past 25 years I have led about 80 tours through various parts of Europe with many different people, all from Hawaii, so they look Asian/mixed like our local population. Well, that's typically what 99.5% of the tourists visit. That Old Town is nice, OK, but it is a tourist trap nonetheless. This way, they missed all the exquisite architecture of old buildings and palaces to be found in the more discreet part of Nice in the hills, especially between Carabacel (Grand Palais ! the former Majestic Hotel !) all the way to Cimiez (former Excelsior Regina hotel). And do it by foot, and explore the nice, quiet streets left and right of the grand boulevards. That's the Nice I discovered in April, and there were zero other tourists to be seen.... You can see some pictures here: www.retroscoop.com/amusement.php?bt=Lees+meer&artikel=281 It is the (dutch) introduction to an inventory I'm making of "all" the hotels there used to be in Nice before 1980. The two first parts are also on that website, still two more parts to go. There is also an article on the famous Ruhl Hotel, far more elegant than the somewhat "bling-bling" Negresco, but unfortunately destroyed in the 1970's. Nice was so breathtakingly interesting and "nice" that I can't wait to go back next year :) But not in the old town !
