The Opel Crossland X now promises high comfort, lots of space and stylish looks with any kind of powertrain, thanks to an optional, smooth-shifting automatic transmission. Opel offers the 1.2 Direct Injection Turbo petrol engine with six-speed automatic for prices starting at an attractive €23,320 (RRP incl. VAT in Germany; NEDC1 fuel consumption with stop/start: 5.9 l/100km urban, 4.5 l/100km extra-urban, 5.0 l/100 km, 114-113 g/km CO2 combined; WLTP2 combined: 6.7-6.6 l/100km, 152-145 g/km CO2). The Crossland X with the new top-of-the-line powertrain makes its debut at the IAA Frankfurt International Motor Show (public days September 12-22). All Crossland X petrol engines already comply with the strict Euro 6d emissions standard.
Powered by the 96kW (130hp) turbocharged direct injection petrol engine, the Crossland X with six-speed automatic reaches a maximum speed of up to 198 km/h. Zero to 100km/h acceleration is covered in 10.2 seconds. The three-cylinder engine develops maximum torque of 230 Newton metres at 1,750rpm. In this specification, the Crossland X is as relaxing to drive on open roads as in town, where drivers no longer need to shift gears manually. The same applies to the Crossland X automatic with 88kW (120hp) 1.5-litre diesel engine (NEDC1 fuel consumption: 4.4 l/100km urban, 3.8-3-7 l/100km extra-urban, 4.0 l/100km 106-104 g/km CO2 combined; WLTP2 combined: 5.4-5.2 l/100km, 142-135 g/km CO2).
Safety first: numerous assistance systems as standard equipment
The modern driver assistance systems as standard equipment contribute further to the relaxing drive, such as:
Cruise control with speed limiter and intelligent speed adaptation
Hill start assist,
Lane keep assist,
Speed sign recognition,
and driver drowsiness alert.
The multi-adjustable driver and front passenger seats, chrome-trimmed leather steering wheel, air conditioning with footwell heating and electric windows front and rear increase the feeling of wellness still further. Crossland X drivers and passengers are always up to date thanks to the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible Radio R 4.0 IntelliLink infotainment with seven-inch colour touchscreen. Additional assistance-options for the Crossland X include forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, 180-degree panorama rear view camera and automatic park assist.
An excellent example of safety for all today is the Opel Crossland X. Like its predecessors, the Crossland X also offers advanced safety technologies in the SUV B segment that make it stand out in the marketplace. In Opel’s anniversary year, the “120 Years” model variant additionally features as standard a ThermaTec heated windscreen for a clear view on frosty days; LED ambient lighting in the centre console and the doors for a feel-good atmosphere in the dark; and on the outside, high-gloss black B pillars, a chrome roofline, a silver underride front and rear with protective-looks, plus anthracite-coloured light-alloy wheels in 4 x twin-spoke design. Thanks to its wide range of high-tech driver assistance systems, the small, cool SUV offers outstanding innovations that make every journey safer, easier and more comfortable.
Forward Collision Alert with Pedestrian Detection and Automatic Emergency Braking monitors the traffic situation in front of the Crossland X via the front camera and is able to detect driving and parked cars as well as pedestrians (adults and children). The system sounds an alarm and gives a visual warning, and also brakes automatically if the distance to a vehicle or a pedestrian ahead decreases rapidly and the driver does not react.
Drowsiness Detection is an extension to the Driver Drowsiness Alert fitted as standard, which alerts the driver after two hours of driving at more than 65 km/h. The extended system triggers a warning if the trajectory of the Crossland X suggests driver drowsiness or inattention, posting a message in the driver information cluster and giving an acoustic signal. After three warnings at the first level the system issues a second alert with a different message in the driver instrument cluster and a louder acoustic signal. The system is reset by driving at speeds below 65 km/h for 15 consecutive minutes.
In addition to these innovations, when it comes to safety the Crossland X is recognized as one of the best performers in its category. Euro NCAP announced Opel’s B-segment SUV as “Best in Class of 2017”. In safety ratings published in November 2017, Euro NCAP awarded the Crossland X the maximum five stars, based on assessments in the four safety areas adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, pedestrian protection and safety assist. The Crossland X performed especially well in the side barrier tests, where it scored maximum points for both adult and child occupant protection.

I've been driving this car for almost two years. The engine is very quiet and the car burns low fuel (the same amount as my much smaller Opel Astra hatchback). It's reliable, practical, easy to clean and roomy. I highly recommend this car. It's a car of prudent and wise people :)
