If Amazon sells it to an Auction/Salvage place first, that is most likely where the thieving takes place. I would file a complaint. If it is on the manifest, it needs to be in there. He looked heartbroken when the box was empty.

Additionally you don’t get a dollar for dollar “write off” of your business expenses against your net income. It is deducted at a percentage. Lastly, that would be a very hard expense for hi. To write off since he is not a retailer. He most certainly would be audited

I've bought two of these myself, they are never worth even close to the value it says. Even if everything is brand new, in the box, never used, you are very lucky if you get 50% of said value.

I do think you're missing something. 1) It said truckload as opposed to others that said "Pallet" and 2) it said over 1500 pieces, which means items, not parts (one box of 100 marbles is one piece). There has to be more pending.
