I'm from Washington State in the US. I was over there about 10 years ago. Your Plitvice National Park is absolutely beautiful! The first day was sunny and warm but it was raining hard and cold on the the second day there. The cold raining day was my favorite.
I went to a performance of Shen Yun. I don't know how many people know what it is, but it's a performance of classical Chinese dance combined with ballet and they tell stories and do traditional dances. They even have tenners sing and this year, they had an Erhu soloist. It was spectacular. I encourage everyone to look it up and attend if you haven't. They do new things every year. It's an entirely new performance every year. I HIGHLY recommend!
Even though I have no Chinese ancestry, I still find myself being drawn to the Erhu. I have always felt the need to go to China and learn this instrument from someone who has mastered it. It is truly the most beautiful thing I have ever heard.

The erhu is called the niko in Japanese, but they also have their own variant called the Kokyū
