I know it hasn't been long since part 1 but I'm wondering what you have been able to do with it in the time since you made this video. Also, I would love to see some sample photos. Have you attempted to get a launcher set up on it to have some sort of home? How do you view or launch other side loaded apps? You have really excited my imagination about this device.
I'm rendering a time lapse of a mushroom that I took with two L16s automated by a central computer to capture and save the LRI images. It will be posted soon, and after that I will be completing part two. I use SimpleSSHD and adb over wifi for remote access and control (ssh faster file transfer than adb). Part two will be good. I expect a part three could be done too.

I'm finding it on both Amazon and EBay for around $200 USD. Very tempting to get it and play around with it. Are you able to use ADB to push the latest firmware to the device? Do they have the recovery image available anywhere?
The device is totally abandoned and there are no update servers. I've not seen an ability to download the latest firmware. My devices are stuck on the android version they shipped with until someone else can figure that out.
Been scowering the XDA thread and this video but still have a few questions. Is it possible to sideload apps without the latest firmware via adb commands, and does any GCam port work? Found one at a bargain price but the potential of no video recording has me a bit on edge :/ Thank you!
You can 100% sideload APKs but they need to be Marshmallow APKs. Part 2 will discuss this in more detail. I sideloaded SimpleSSHD on them for instance.

thank you for this! as a person entirely unfamiliar with advanced computing, but with a ton of photos on the camera and no old computers, would love to hear some strategies for removing the photos from the photo roll to a more modern device. thank you!
Okay. This might sound like a stupid question, but I'm a photographer and I was an original backer of the L16 and I'm determined to continue using it. Here's my issue: the lumen application doesn't work on the silicon Macs. Is there a way to extract/convert the images from the camera at full resolution without having to buy an older computer to use Lumen?
@@WanderingRobotStudio Grr. Yeah, Lumen just times out. I think the program won't work on new systems after they stopped supporting it. Well hey, thanks anyway for tinkering and finding it useful for yourself.
If you do not have the lumen software, the only thing you can do is process the photo in camera. Then you can connect to any PC and download the processed photo.
has anyone been able to run the OSx file he provides? I can download it and open it on my MacBook, but it does not open, just sits there and shows it is running, but it does not.
I updated to the new version I believe it is 1.3.5.1. But I am unable to record video and I thought with the newer updates video would be an option? How do I get to the video recording option or is there a way to hack it?
I just got 5 of these for $100 bucks. Bummer that they abandoned them. I’m not tech savvy. I just got a bunch of paper weights. I got them for video was hoping could use it as a WebCam also wanted to use to film 🎥 live bands. The guy I got them From told me they were great for videos and sold me them And a few Rode mics with them. I thought I had a new video rig 🤦🏻♂️
I have two cameras that only flash a red light around the main button. Is that what you see? I believe these cameras experienced sub-freezing cold. Did yours?

I don’t think so. Either a VM or running with Rosetta will have to suffice.

@@asherhonish1143 Even on Intel Macs with the latest OS Lumen won't start up. I use a windows bootcamp for Lumen.

You will only get 4k images out without lumen

Unfortunately they can't be used for video and I never found a way. I do still use them for time lapses.
