I would definitely say that they are the most willing to take the artificial...But it has a lot to do with the locations where we fish...Cavali (Jack Crevalles) also take artificials regularly, especially off the rocks...Carite and Kingfish will take it as well...Once you can reach them...Other inshore species like snapper, ladyfish and even catfish will take it from time to time...All depends on where you are fishing...

Your dad probably knows his stuff...But sometimes the conditions can work against you..When fishing from the beaches (Chag, Mayaro, etc) with shrimp its important to use the correct size hooks...Mostly small fish will take the shrimp...So use small hooks...Then when you catch one of those small fish...Use that for bait for the bigger fish! Either whole or cut up...Lures can be really effective it rivers and on some beaches...But it does take time to learn...and requires a lot of patience...You should get a small spoon bait and start with that...
