There are artists that just massacre the National anthem with these huge vocal calisthenics, which of course, takes the focus off of the song and onto how great the artist thinks he/she is. Peter did a great job in delivering a great performance while at the same time, not being self serving.

Donde is right. Perfect pitch isn't what you think it is. It's the ability to distinguish notes by ear without any external clue. So playing a pitch pipe or harmonica to get the key signature in your head is proof that he doesn't have perfect pitch. Doesn't mean he didn't do a great job. Hardly anyone has perfect pitch. It's like a party trick more than anything else. Plenty of people with perfect pitch are lousy singers.

@@carmenmunoz4324 it happened on May 20, 1969. Peter was attending a Cubs vs Dodgers game at Dodgers stadium. When the Cubs won, some Marines there decided they didn't like Cetera because (1) he was rooting for the Cubs (who won) and (2) at the time Cetera had long hair as he was in the band Chicago. So one of the Marine's pushed him down calling him a hippie, and when Cetera went to get back up, another Marine cold cocked him in the face, breaking his jaw. And that's why when Cetera sings, his jaw is clenched; he had to learn how to sing with his jaw wired shut.
