But okay where do I even _begin_ to describe how pretty this entire thing turned out!? I know you’d worked really really hard on it and I loved watching your progress on streams, and some of the final shots in here are just so clean and pretty. So please watch out because I am going to type up an absolute storm of a comment about every detail that you put so much effort into drawing and compiling!!!

Okay so first off all the references with objects from 0:03-0:30??? SO GOOD!!! The wontons, the broken qin, the golden core, the baby at 0:09… Absolutely sobbing,,,
I feel like I remember offering you inspiration for one of the objects in the animatic but I don’t even remember which one anymore LGSBLFSHKS. I love all the ones you did go with though, especially in how they still fit but also change the meaning of the lyrics to be more Erha-related! 🤧
And you draw animals so well… 0:24 has such lovely silhouettes! Truly a -furry- inspiration (I’m sorry I couldn’t resist asglajJHMFSKHhfkshsj I promise the rest of this comment is just awed gushing 🥹)!
Taxian-jun’s expression at 0:30 and then Chu-fei’s answering terror at 0:32 is _such_ good contrast!! 0:42-0:49 is also just beautiful,,, I love Taxian-jun’s lowered face and dark gaze as he hugs Chu Wanning, saying those words (where the faded out part just adds to the emotional power of those words about Chu Wanning being the only one he has left omg), followed by Chu-fei’s own numb expression… The pain is so good fuck 😭
I SPY MORE ADORABLE BABIES AT 0:34 (Ye Wangxi, Nangong Si, and Naobaijin!?)!!! The 0:35 IS SO CUTE,,,

Man I _adore_ the different colours of blue you chose, which make it really emotional. And I also adore how the entire thing is edited to the beat! It emphasizes some of the moments so well, especially with repeated shots that mirror the previous ones (like Taxian-jun’s progressively more and more insane and mournful and bloody features from 0:50 to 1:08! There’s that smug smile at first and then a maddened grin… It’s just perfect! You also worked so hard on drawing all those patterns for his hanfu and it pays off so so well. And PS: I am _obsessed_ with the level of emotion in 1:08… The insanity and regret are shown _so well_ in his clawed hands and his shadowed face!!!!).
0:54 being a reference to Chu Wanning teaching Mo Ran how to write _with the lyrics “As a result of forgetting”_ has me screaming-esPECIALLY SINCE IT’S FOLLOWED BY ADORABLE BABY MO RAN’S ADORING FACE STANDING BEFORE CHU WANNING AT 0:54???? ;o;
Plus the shots of CWN at like 1:00, 1:01, 1:06, and 1:07 (AND THE FACT THE 1:07 ONE IS HIM DEAD AND IT SAYS “As a result of dying”? HOW DARE YOU AHHHHH)? Oh my _god_ those are _so_ prettily cinematic!!! I love his emotions being so visible and then the backgrounds… And the qin at 1:05 when he’s fighting with Jiuge yet you see his despair… Fuck it’s so good!! Your colouring and shading is always just //chef’s kiss!!!
Mo Ran’s favourite food under the haitang tree at 1:12 and then him waking at 1:13?? It feels like a really good quick capture of his death as Taxian-jun… You did it so fast but so well!
The reference to the chapter with the spiritual golden haitang flowers and the red butterflies at 1:15 is also just _absolutely_ phenomenal… I love how they gather as the next shot “loads” the same way they gathered in the chapter itself! ♥
Also the shot of Shi Mei’s whole deal at 1:22 is so so good,,, I love the way you contrast that in the next sentence-where I assume it’s Chu Wanning with his back turned-it’s such good symbolism,,, plus your design for Shi Mei is just too cute!!
Then the contrast between Mo Ran crying over Shi Mei at 1:25 and then injured Chu Wanning at 1:26?? Absolutely delicious thanks for the pain. ;w;
Mo Ran’s expressions at both 1:27 and 1:25 are also just soooooo well-done,,, really evocative of his feelings. It makes Chu Wanning’s reaction at 1:28 hit even harder, and his face is also really perfectly expressive gahhh 😭
Oh and 1:29 is so cute my heart… qwq
AND THE ANIMATED FLAME IN THE SOUL-CALLING LANTERN AT 1:31? MATCHED WITH THE LYRICS?? AND NOW IN COLOUR??? It’s such a perfect moment, especially since you linger on it _with_ those lyrics after the faster editing before!
“But you see, that’s not correct/Because you have chosen and/As a result, it’s ironic how you’re here/But shunned like you were a ghost” are such good Chu Wanning lines…
And then “But you see, that’s just fine/Don’t gloss over it and say that’s terrible/Because, I and myself, we’re all ghosts” feels like Mo Ran trying to reassure Chu Wanning at that time,,, And then “Very selfish ghosts” feels like such a good reference to how Mo Ran feels so guilty over his previous treatment of Chu Wanning and he feels like he doesn’t deserve Chu Wanning anymore but still doesn’t want to give him up 🥹
AND THE CHANGE IN TONE AT 1:47 WHERE “therefore?” FEELS LIKE CHU WANNING IS ASKING MO RAN WHAT HE MEANS… BECAUSE IT’S THE CONFESSION SCENE AND HE CAN’T BELIEVE MO RAN WOULD CARE SO DEEPLY ABOUT HIM-ESPECIALLY TO THE POINT OF LOVE…BUT WE SEE MO RAN’S VERY _VERY_ LOVING SMILE WITH AN ANSWERING “Therefore!” IMMEDIATELY AFTER AT 1:49??? _HNNNNNGH BE STILL MY HEART THEY ARE SO SOFT!!!_
ALL RIGHT TIME FOR THE 2ND PART OF MY COMMENT:
Seeing Mo-zongshi during his grieving period where he wore white like Chu Wanning makes me soft… God I love that arc so much!
AND I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN OVER YOUR BABY CHU WANNING AT 1:53!!! He was so bright and happy back then… 🥹
It also offers such a good contrast to baby Mo Ran at 1:55 😭
I AM GOING SO SOFT AT MO RAN’S FARM ARC REFERENCE AT 1:56… HIS SMILE IS 10/10!!!
And fuck 1:59 and 2:00 are both such pretty shots… The shading on Chu Wanning’s concerned face has me wanting to give him a hug, and Mo Ran’s face against a backdrop of the flower of everlasting hatred (with the lyric “As a result of not noticing”) has me gnawing off my heart ;-;

That shot being paired with Mo Ran basically saying “You and me, you and me, you and me; lovey dovey” twice is a good representation of his reassurance to Chu Wanning… Although it’s still so painful 😭
AND I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT PART OF THE ANIMATIC BASICALLY ENDS THERE WITH MO RAN CLOSING HIS EYES AHHHHHHHHH
But all the things flashing by in white lines against a black backdrop is really so pretty… The addition of the necklaces to the items we’ve seen already in the opening has me sobbing on the floor… Then I sobbed even more at the stairs at 2:34, especially since we see Chu Wanning and his little -ducklings- disciples fade in soon afterwards. 🥲
As much as my heart hurts though… Fuck they’re so cute in your style. I want to pinch all of their cheeks-including Chu Wanning. I know I wouldn’t be allowed to, but you just draw them so adorably 🥹
The next shots being a contrast to the opening shots, except now it’s the ending of the novel where they’re happy together-what with Goutou at 2:50… HGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH I CAN FEEL MY HEART PUTTING ITSELF BACK TOGETHER IN HAPPY TEARS

2:53…and 2:54… Ranwan and umbrellas _will always make me so happy_ because of the scene where Mo Ran vows to hold an umbrella over his shizun for the rest of their lives… It pairs so nicely with the lyric “There’s seconds to have” too since even though Mo Ran _did_ die, he also came back-and now he can truly be by Chu Wanning’s side for the rest of their lives, holding that umbrella…which you drew so beautifully. 😭♥
Like okay moving on for a moment from the symbolism I was just discussing: _oil paper umbrellas are so hard to draw?? And yours turned out amazing!!!_
Then there’s your Ranwan at 2:54… FUCK THEY’RE SO CUUUUUUTE!!! Mo Ran’s soft, beaming expression as he looks down tenderly at Chu Wanning, who’s blushing and looking slightly away…? 100/10 PERFECT RANWAN AND SUCH PERFECT EXPRESSIONS AND PERFECT BODY LANGUAGE ALL MAKING IT A PERFECT SHOT TO END ON!!!

Bby A-Ning deserves the world and more, he was so happy with his sweets. Now I realize that it makes it sadder cuz that scene could be interchangeable THEY BOTH TRUSTED AND GOT BETRAYED, THEY WERE JUST BABIES. Initially I wanted both scenes to be CWN during his childhood but then realizing MR snapping was also a good one.
