Congrats, Dylan! I got my grail in 1976, a Martin HD28. Forty-seven years later it's still a sweetheart that resonates within my very soul--and yes, the thrill of that first strum every time you start to play never diminishes. Your life was just enhanced--enjoy.
Congratulations! I just got my “holy grail” guitar (also a D-28) like 2 weeks ago, and I love it! I hope that yours turns out to be everything you hoped for.
Wow. Congrats! Watching you pull that out of the case felt like the Christmas mornings of my youth, when the siblings got everything I wanted and "Thanks for the sweater, grandma" was all I could say.
Wow congratulations! I remember getting my D18 and how excited I was and how great it sounded. Now I'm shooting for a D28 and a J45. Again congratulations!
Got my heart rate up just watching the unboxing. Almost brought a tear to my eye seeing it. I've got all the other guitars I need, except a Martin. Enjoy that piece of History. (I know it's not old, but it's a Martin. Each and every one is Historic).
I have a Martin D28 that I bought in 1972.....I only let one person play it for a bit. They r a better guitarist than I ever was. Such a beautiful sounding guitar. I took extra care of it for all those yrs.
I went to a guitar center and played the D28, HD28 and D18. All sounded wonderful, but the HD28 has scalloped bracing that make a significant difference. The HD28 used to be the standard D28, but to improve durability they stopped the scalloping and to make it more affordable the herringbone wasn’t added. Did you try the HD28?
different animal I know a ton of guitarists that love the straight bracing of the d 28. over the hd28 .....all depends on what u are goin for I owned 8 high end martins...u really cannot go wrong....I also played a rear shifted martin d 28 was AMAZING!!!!!!
Great video Dylan. Hilarious beginning as it shows the drawbacks of all our unboxing videos. Ceiling too low and room too small. I am a Gibson boy but damn that is sweet sounds. might get a 000- 28 or 18. Enjoy that beauty. Have you put it down yet ?
Awesome. I know the moment you are experiencing. They are absolutely wonderful. My 'grail' was always the D12-28, which I bought used a couple years ago from Tone Shop Guitars near Dallas.. A beauty 2014 model with Hot Dots installed. It was always my 'grail' because I am a 12 string guy since my 1st guitar. "Holy Crap" says it all! Are your fingers ore yet? If you play mostly electrics, you are going to need some setup. I also have a D35 and OMC16e and both needed saddle cut down when new. Now both play like butter.
Good video I am a Martin head I have 2 now an Eric Clapton Ooo-28 and a HD-35 but I have owned over 30 new Martins and liked them all I have One Larivee OM 44-Vine now too for many years since the late 80s I played exclusively electric but now that I am 62 it is almost all acoustic there is just something pure about the sound and just grab and play no pedals amps just play I still do have Fender tele when the urge arises Love your D-28 .
Got my first real Martin, a 000-28 brand new the other month, love it. Worth the wait (15 years) to find a holy grail guitar for myself, put a tonerite on it for a week, lowered the action at the nut and bridge, new Elixirs and good to go. Enjoy! That one sounds great
I got the 000-28 2023 model with the split diamond inlays and vintage tuners. Can’t remember the name of it but basically they try to recapture some vintage vibes
Tried one out today at a local music store here in Canada.. I'm in love with that guitar but... muchos pesos. Oh well.. maybe in the next couple of weeks I'll have enough stashed to pull the trigger. Thanks for posting.
Beautiful guitar, definitely on my list for my next guitar as I’m looking for a Sitka/rosewood combo. I’ve played about 7-8 different American made Martins recently and none wowed me. Why can’t they get their setup as good as Taylor out of the box?
That sounds like a beautiful guitar. I’m listening on headphones and it sounds quite bright and penetrating. I’ll never be able to afford one - so I’ll have to keep hunting for something more affordable that can cut through the other guitars in the group.
They still make them just as good except going to Indian rosewood. Looks fantastic! Got my 28 in 1972 used, made in 1969 and happened to be one of the last original Brazillian Rosewoods, by luck. Still have it...
Check it for hairline cracks, and make sure the binding not lose, Last 2 brand new martin d 28s i looked at had hairline cracks ! had to sell my 2017 martin d 41 because the binding was falling of , martin service dept did nothing to help , lost money on the d 41 , Good luck to you
Congrats. It is a grail guitar. From the sound of it, you got a good one. Very even, not very scooped (yes, I prefer 18s) and it does the D28 thing :) Enjoy it.
I’m pretty sure the comment you read in the video about not being smart was talking about the dude who unsubscribed for you flicking your knife, had nothing to do with you being smart buying a guitar
Very dangerous practice of shipping fully tuned! It should have been de-tuned before shipping. Someone at Martin needs to be reprimanded. Congratulations on your new D28. they are truly magnificent guitars! Rock On !!!
What very happened to the, "I'll never own another wood body guitar again." (Something along those lines)? How the carbon fiber sounds every bit as good as the wood, only it's better? Yes, I'm giving you some crap for past videos. And yes, I'm also saying congratulations on buying a killer guitar and hope you enjoy it for many years to come. As it gracefully ages and really comes into its own. It'll only sound better after this.
Bye the way I liked the Pro Tech as well I have 3 the Tactical auto 3 in cruwear steel the runt in magna cut and the pro tech strider pt plus in magnacut
Take the bracelet off, dude. That looks like a catastrophe in the making. D28 great guitar. Switched to finger style years ago . Dreads are just too big for me. I play Santa Cruz now but have a D28 as well. They’re reliable and iconic. Happy you found your “Grail”.
How can you not be thrilled for someone getting a cool, new guitar!
Congrats, Dylan! I got my grail in 1976, a Martin HD28. Forty-seven years later it's still a sweetheart that resonates within my very soul--and yes, the thrill of that first strum every time you start to play never diminishes. Your life was just enhanced--enjoy.
Congrats Dylan, what a beautiful Martin D28!!
Congratulations! I just got my “holy grail” guitar (also a D-28) like 2 weeks ago, and I love it! I hope that yours turns out to be everything you hoped for.
Congratulations dude! It is a grail for me too. I hope when I get one I will enjoy unboxing it as much as you. Enjoy it!
Wow.
Congratulations man. That is one sweet guitar, you’re gonna have loads of fun playing it. Rock on 🤘
I missed the live. But still..wow! Good for you Dylan. I'm happy for you. I wish you every success. Enjoy the fruits, so to speak.
Got my heart rate up just watching the unboxing. Almost brought a tear to my eye seeing it. I've got all the other guitars I need, except a Martin. Enjoy that piece of History. (I know it's not old, but it's a Martin. Each and every one is Historic).
I bought a 2013 D-28 Shade Top years ago, and I love it dearly my first Martin was an American D1gt from the early 2000's I still have both. Cheers
Congratulations! It's beautiful and sounds amazing!
Congrats Dylan! My 2008 D28 is my only full sized acoustic and all I will ever need. Enjoy!

I got my D-28 in 1970 and it sounds better today! Congrats.
Wow, that first throaty G chord. Something tells me that's a keeper. Congrats.
So excited for you! A thing of beauty! Congratulations 🎉 😊
Congrats! She'll only get better over time
Congratulations! 🎉

Knives are made for flipping. Good for you! The case looks substantial and stylish too.

What an incredible moment. Your watch had me concerned for an accidental bump.
“What are you unboxing on a Friday night?”
Love it man.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!…Dylan I’m happy for you bro…sounds awesome…enjoy my man😎
Looks great! Congrats. happy for you.
Love it! My favorite part of any acoustic is setting it up to make it mine. ... for the algorithm 💪🏻

Congratulations
Sounds and looks amazing!
WOW!
Great iconic sounding dreadnought. Awesome collection. 👍🎶
Congratulations on the beautiful guitar Dylan 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I am jealous. Beautiful guitar. I don't think i would be wearing a big metal watch though anywhere close to it.
This is stokage on film. Thank you
Congratulations!!
That's my grail too. Awesome guitar, enjoy. Someday i will get mine.
Awesome! Congratulations ❤

I’ve played about 7-8 different American made Martins recently and none wowed me. Why can’t they get their setup as good as Taylor out of the box?
Because they give you the room to make it yours. Setup is not their job
That is a DEEP body! It must have a massive sound. Yes it does!
You deserve this guitar Dylan. Pleased for you.
Beautiful guitar, congratulations 🎉

Try epiphone masterbilt aj500rce.
I have several Martin, Gibson, but the epiphone is exlnt, and about $700
Congrats on the killer 'coustic !! Nothing nicer than a Martin !!!
I have a D35 and a GPCPA1. They are awesome.
They still make them just as good except going to Indian rosewood. Looks fantastic!

Large sound my friend!

I'm just curious to see what strings (size/type) end up on it
I’m pretty sure the comment you read in the video about not being smart was talking about the dude who unsubscribed for you flicking your knife, had nothing to do with you being smart buying a guitar
Nah… he was being a douche the whole time. No big deal
Beautiful tone, it will be an hairloom to pass down...
NGD is the Best kind of day!!
never liked dreadnoughts myself but it is a beauty -congrats
00-28 Dlx ????
Can you do us a huge favor and compare the D28 to your Sable?
Nice guitar !
Nice music tool
Wow, that's a $2,800 guitar! :)
Fantastic
How’s it going pals?
Setup new and strings and it will be your favorite
Very dangerous practice of shipping fully tuned! It should have been de-tuned before shipping. Someone at Martin needs to be reprimanded.
Congratulations on your new D28. they are truly magnificent guitars!

Now that my friend…. Is no joke 😂
Such a beautiful instrument but the headstock on Martin's look like that of a $39.95 Walmart guitar.
That’s impossible because Martin predates Walmart or any guitar sold There.

lol. Just because you would bang up your guitar doesn’t mean I will…. Never been a problem for me
I think I would have removed that bracelet
Congrats! ✨🌿☀️👌🏻🙌🏻👍🏻 )
BEAUTUFUL GUITAR, GOOD LUCK, GOD BLESS, STAY SAFE, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
