    👍🏻 Great info. Have yet to see Mak Yong performance in Malaysia. Saw one performance in Yala, Thailand. It was so good. From the start, with rituals and offerings before they actually start to perform. It was so raw and moving..
    Moreover, it was performed at a Buddhist temple grounds for a very old monk’s birthday. Oh yes, a Menora performance was shown too. Hope to witness Mak Yong in a village someday.

      It is believed that Menora is the origin of this dance, during the Malay Buddhist era. And later during the pre Islamic era, the King prohibit Menora and introduce Makyong.
