For those watching who are new to this stuff do yourselves a favor and grab a can of penetrating oil when you run into a bolt that's stubborn as hell like the timing cover in this video. He got it off but could have been a major pain in the ass had the bolt sheared. I've had good luck with liquid wrench and it's affordable. Another tip is to use a T handle whenever possible on one, it gives you better torque but most importantly it's easier to keep balanced pressure. I used to have a Yamaha Wolverine, I got it for Christmas when I was about 13. It was in Yamaha Blue and beautiful. It was one of my favorite 4wheelers.
I bought a 1995 Yamaha Wolverine new and still have it today. Only thing I did besides routine maintenance, rebuilt carb and replace battery a couple times. I can't see how the front drive shaft went out of it. Mine is still good and u joints are tite and they don't have grease fittings. Thanks for all the Great Vids !

I bought the same year and model a few years ago. Had to replace the clutches, tires, cv boots, and do a valve adjustment. I wired a piece of metal screen around the intake to keep mice out of the air filter and added an aftermarket fuel filter but it's time to check out the carb. This year I put an elbow on the tailpipe pointed down because I haul a trailer with it sometimes with a passenger - just keeps the exhaust out of their face.
When you get a bolt stuck like that try putting the socket(or Allen head) on/in it and whack it with a hammer..it usually works..the impact of hitting it breaks loose the rust/ corrosion
Full time 4x4 Not super fast but damn reliable, same as the big bear 350. Had a 96 big bear loved it. Wife took it over til I got her her warrior. She went hhrough 3 top ends on that big bear, still sitting out back in pieces, been selling parts and robbing them as needed. Have fun with that, I have a top end out there that will fit that.
Possibly the reason why the rear wheels are loose is because of the castle nuts not being tight enough, I have one and that was a problem that I had and tightening those down fixed it.
Or a carrier bearing unless the previous owner was a crack head. You always torque your hub nuts down and double check after you cleaned it up after a ride
another channel I watch Michael sabo was working on a friends 250 ex that had been setting outside for awhile he was cleaning the mouse nest out and there was a snake laying in it probably waiting for the mice to come home .
I had a shop vac id use when working outside and one day i went to use it and smoke poured from out of it. So i opened it up to discover mice had made a home out of it and had chewed the plastic and motor apart and caused it to smoke. The funny part was that the mice were still inside it so I dump it out in the grass and the mice acted like the was drunk.

Every carburated Yamaha starts the same. Full choke, sounds like the piston wants out. You try to find the mid-choke. Careful as you try, it still goes no choke, but hey! It's idling OK. Best trick i've found is when I'm taking it off full choke is to keep the revs up, then rev up to about 1800, drop, do it again. Work everytime, no. Better than no times. Have you ever come across a Grizzly 660?? I'm wondering about the chain that is in the area of the water pump. I believe its the oil pump chain. On the other hand you dont know what your gonna need till you take the motor apart, new timing chain , piston, sleeve what ever its your wallet
